I guess it's a good sign that your brains still function well enough to recall all that and with such detail. Take care. Protect your health going forward..
The 3rd hit on Shannon was definitely deserving of an unnecessary roughness penalty. The other two was how the game was played. These days the receivers can go over the middle or jump for balls with no fear. It also goes both ways bc both Shannon and Ocho had some devastating blindside blocks on defenders. Brian Russel is the hardest hitting safety ive ever seen to this day. It wasnt that he was dirty to be dirty he was just very physical and didnt pull punches. He reminded me of ray lewis as a safety physically.
Brian Russel was one of my favorite Vikings of all time. He used to be on the NFL countdowns Jacked Up segments almost every week. I was disappointed when the Viks let him walk. I still checked out the Briwns games and highlights when ever i got a chance to see how he was doing.
#1. Those hits were scary. Even those days they should have not stayedin the game both hits they were obviously KO'd on the field. #2. I complained with this protocol stuff initially but realized for the sake of the players completely necessary. #3. The first hit on Unc while scary its kind of amazing how Thomas laid that hit (it wasnt a knee) and still caught that INT. It's usually one or the other lay the hit to separate the ball or go for the INT he did both at he same time. #4. These QBs really need to do more to protect these WRs sheesh.
Defenders are just too big and fast these days to allow the same kind of hitting they did up until the 80’s. If you allowed linebackers to hit QB’s the way the likes of Jack Lambert, Dick Butkus, etc did in their day, you wouldn’t have a single starting QB make it an entire season without significant time on the injury list.
I remember that post game interview as a Bengals fan. I've had a few concussions myself, anyone who complains about trying to get those hits out of the game is a sociopath.
The announcers barely batted an eye at those hits. Today those are both absolutely targeting calls, first down for offense and one more would be an ejection for the defensive player. Shows how much the game has changed in 20 years
They clearly didn’t give a f. They still tried to interview CHAD while he’s concussed. That is wild 🤣 why would you interview a person with a concussion
@Dawgthem Ya but it was ignorance more than anything I think. The evidence was coming out slowly buy nobody realized people were ruining their lives with all these head hits. The Vikings just had it out for Unc and back then fools got hit for real.
great job finding these clips! i saw this playing on the feed and wanted to comment to say nice job
That's how hard they were hit that they forgot: It as not Orlando Thomas knee it was shoulder, and Ocho's ball was not high as well
I guess it's a good sign that your brains still function well enough to recall all that and with such detail.
I miss that football!
Props to you for finding the footage
Elway didn't even check on him. Just walked off the field.
lmao
🤣🤣🤣🤣
He out there throwing hospital passes 😂😂😂
Yea that was some bullshit he better have apologized for that
😂😂😂😂 Elway said who's up next mike
Appreciate your research. You’re awesome dude.
In the 80s and 90s there were some incredible hits.
70’s too!
I remember that pod cast. Football used to be a gladiators sport. Some guys now could play back then but it's more about the longevity of the players. I can't argue with that.
And now you know why Jerry Rice is the GOAT. Not because he didn't get hit like this, but because he played through this era of football and still racked up numbers that will never be broken.
Great edit !!
That Bryan Russell hit on Chad is as lethal a hit you'll ever see...
WOW!!!!!
THIS IS A CHILLING VIDEO...THESE GUYS GI THROUGH A LOT....
It really bothers me seeing Chad like that at the end, goad he is alright.
Thank you for this. Always curious about plays they talk about
Classy move by Cris Carter: he was the first person out to check on Sharpe after that hit...that was a "this is a brotherhood" moment 👍
How did Lee Barden do? He wasn’t there, he was in the dojo. Wild how brutal that hit was.
Brian Russell about to get some interviews from this
😭😭😭 it's crazy how he KO'd both Unc & Chad
Yea it is crazy, never expected that @@ClasherSports
The worst part of Ochos is they were up 24 with 2:00 left in the game. Why was he still in the game, and why were they throwing lol
Interesting to see Carter being one of the first guys out there to check on o'l Unc though....... #Classy👍🏿💯🏁
Great edit , enjoyed the video
Orlando Thomas was a serious hitter. Dude had a talent for putting receivers to sleep.
i gained so much respect for ocho seeing that hit
thanks for taking the time dude
Wow that was a scary interview. I wanna know did he drive home after the game? this is insane
You know the lick hard when the commentator say” let’s listen to this” 😭
Recovery is real in football. I remember my mom having to make hot salt baths for me in order to make it to class on Monday after Friday night lights. 😭
lol shout out to u for clipping this together
its crazy how they both didn't embellish their stories at all. they described it exactly how it went
Well except shannon said knee but hes just still concussed
Great video and editing bro!
Chad literally looked like he’d just woke up from a nap in the locker room interview, puffy eyes, bad breath and all….LMAO!…😂😂😂…. Shannon getting laid out in these clips are hilarious for some reason….I guess it’s because we don’t see him that quiet often…..😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Good job I was hoping someone would put this together.
At least the nfl players tell true stories unlike the nba players
Because there's no tackling in basketball you big dummy
I don't understand that play call when Ocho got lit up. You're up by 24 with under two minutes to play, run the ball and go home.
THAT WASNT A KNEE UNK THAT WAS A FOREARM 😂😂😂
That was excellent how you found and played it after they talked about it. Shanon said it was a knee, looks like a shoulder knocked him out on that interception.
Brian Russel is the hardest hitting safety ive ever seen to this day. It wasnt that he was dirty to be dirty he was just very physical and didnt pull punches. He reminded me of ray lewis as a safety physically.
(Cough)Sean Taylor
Sean Taylor for me
Trash dirty saftey like Ryan Clark
Good to see the videos of the hits
Brian Russel was one of my favorite Vikings of all time. He used to be on the NFL countdowns Jacked Up segments almost every week. I was disappointed when the Viks let him walk. I still checked out the Briwns games and highlights when ever i got a chance to see how he was doing.
They don’t even remember the hardest hit they have taken…🤯🤯🤯🧠🧠🧠
Great work with this video
I remember that post game interview as a Bengals fan. I've had a few concussions myself, anyone who complains about trying to get those hits out of the game is a sociopath.
its crazy how these kind of hits are what got me in to the nfl and now i can barely watch them
The announcers barely batted an eye at those hits.
Now when I look back at videos of Ali in his old age it's enough to make you cry. Dudes brain was so bruised he could barely move or speak for the whole last chapter of his life
@@JohnSmith-tk7nt Ali had Parkinson's. Lots of boxers don't get it and it's not 100% clear that his boxing career caused it. Look at George Foreman, from Ali's era. Still doing fine.
