Lyrics (French)
---------------------
Ne me quitte pas
Il faut oublier
Tout peut s'oublier
Qui s'enfuit déjà
Oublier le temps
Des malentendus
Et le temps perdu
A savoir comment
Oublier ces heures
Qui tuaient parfois
A coups de pourquoi
Le coeur du bonheur
Ne me quitte pas
Moi je t'offrirai
Des perles du pluie
Venues de pays
Où il ne pleut pas
Je creuserai la terre
Jusqu'après ma mort
Pour couvrir ton corps
D'or et de lumière
Je ferai un domaine
Où l'amour sera roi
Où l'amour sera loi
Où tu seras reine
Ne me quitte pas
Ne me quitte pas
Je t'inventerai
Des mots insensés
Que tu comprendras
Je te parlerai
De ces amants là
Qui ont vu deux fois
Leurs coeurs s'embraser
Je te raconterai
L'histoire de ce roi
Mort de n'avoir pas
Pu te rencontrer
Ne me quitte pas
On a vu souvent
Rejaillir le feu
De l'ancien volcan
Qu'on croyait trop vieux
Il est paraît-il
Des terres brûlées
Donnant plus de blé
Qu'un meilleur avril
Et quand vient le soir
Pour qu'un ciel flamboie
Le rouge et le noir
Ne s'épousent-ils pas
Ne me quitte pas
Ne me quitte pas
Je ne veux plus pleurer
Je ne veux plus parler
Je me cacherai là
A te regarder
Danser et sourire
Et à t'écouter
Chanter et puis rire
Laisse-moi devenir
L'ombre de ton ombre
L'ombre de ta main
L'ombre de ton chien
Ne me quitte pas...

This guy doesn't sing, he lives his song
Very moving even his facial expressions were very powerful
@@UNCLEMOMO listen to Barbara, not Barbara Pravi. JUST "Barbara", she's Jacques Brel in a woman body
Le plus grand quel chanteur ❤
If you are looking for a female french singer of the same period capable of tremendous expression and poetry Barbara might be for you. Some of her masterpieces include : - "Nantes", a retelling of the first time she came back to her childhood town of Nantes as an adult to bury her father who had molested her as a child, a beautiful song full of ambiguous feelings. - "Gottingen", a son about the time she was invited to sing an meet with students at the German student city of Gottingen. Barbara was jewish and she had had to spend all of WWII in hiding in occupied France, so like Nantes, Gottingen is secretly a song about resilience and reconciliating with the past to build futures. The song Gottingen is credited with having had a tremendous influence in bettering franco-german relations after the war. And I saw there was a version of La Solitude which was subtitled in English on youtube, and that is a gorgeous song too.
He is a Belgian my friend not french!
my bad thank you for educating me respect Frederik
It has to be said! As belgians, we don't have much, don't take away whatever little things we have.
one of the most iconic lyrical song bringing crazy passion and feelings.
And your reactions is smiling all along...WEIRD.
REALLY WEIRD...
Like singing "ain't no sunshine" with a huge smile.
i understand that
I'm happy he enjoyed this magnificent song and interpretation to the point he couldn't help himself smiling. I bet Jacques Brel would have been glad to give someone joy with his work.
Le Grand Mr Jacques Brel, an absolute legend in my native country 🇧🇪🇧🇪🇧🇪
The most beautiful love song ever written. However this is actually a very sad song; he is not smiling, he is singing with passion and expressing his sadness, not joy.
I enjoy the focus on the performance and mimicry in his face, which I think MOMO is mainly smiling about. It IS a great performance.
If you read this post , this kind of parole , emotional song exist in France for a long time. in the 1930s there was powerful and amazing singers. OK you will probably know about Edith Piaf, but Frehel too. check it out.
thank you i will Neil
Jacques Brel is belgian not french. You can look le port d'amsterdam from his repertoire. He is consider a legend in the french language community even nina simone sang this song.
career in France, died in France, OUR Jacques Brel is French singer ! 😉
@@Berggruen3550 Jacques Brel is born in Schaerbeek (Belgium) is nationality is belgian. He sang in french speaking country not just France.
You're both lame. Music has no country.
@@Berggruen3550 Please dont say that. We all know Brell is Belgian and he love our country.
Quick French language trick : most of the time you don't have to pronounce the last letter of a word, especially consonnants. There are many exceptions of course, but the silent end letter trick works well most of the time.
Yes we say " ne me quitte pas" and not "ne m quitte passse " ;)
Como me gusta esta canción, me trae recuerdos de mi época vívida en Francia, gracias amigo por tú magnífica reacción. 🙋♂️🇪🇸
es un placer, me alegro de que te haya llevado por el carril de la memoria
There is a version from nina simone, so beautiful

Edith Piaff was this style of artist, very passionate too.
reaction isnt talking over dummy
Para su esposa lo compuso....QUE HERMOSO TEMA. ..gracias
gracias por ver mi canal
Sorry Momo, i don't listen until the end. You comment all the time during the video on topics that are not the video itself, the words, the emotion he put on it. Cleary you was more focus about your next comment than just listening and understanding the lyrics...
thank you for your point of view, i listen to all songs more than once because i don't always catch everything in the first view.
Listen to the version by Ledisi. With the Albert Orchestra i think. It’s breathtaking. But I LOVE the original.
Tais toi pendant la musique, si ce que tu as à dire n’est pas plus beau que ce que tu écoutes !!!
Can’t argue with that👊🏾
Belgian
Thank you for correcting me
ne me quite pas (neu meu kit pa
This song is one of the most successful covers of Nina Simone, and she sang it in french. You should go and listen to it.
This is a song by Brel and not a cover by Nina Simone
@@GrafindeKlevemark Pardon je me suis mal fait comprendre. Je voulais dire que cette chanson de Brel est une des plus célèbres reprises qu'à faites Nina Simone. C'est mieux ainsi...
Nina is covering Jaques Brel's best known song Ne Me Quite Pas. She spent her last years in France.
how about Billie Holiday? She had the same magic. Or Edith Piaf, Marlene Dietrich. All unique personalities in their own right.
React to Miguel Poveda, Triana puente y aparte..., 🙋♂️🇪🇸
You can listen to Edith Piaf : « L’Hymne à l’amour » 😉
I’ll check it out thank you
Easy, Edith Piaf, about the same Era, and both forever "goats" imho.
tu devrais écoute serge regianis
nice reaction don t pronounce the s of pas
Oh okay thank you for educating me
Pronounce it Nuh Muh Keetuh Pah
Thank you
Don't prononciate the "S". It's "Pa" not "Pass"
+L'esprit Bleu thank you for telling me
Not prononce the "s" to ne quitte pas
Thank you so much
