great knife; my daughter got it from Gearbest by accident. As Bob Ross would say, "what a happy little accident it was". She carried it with her almost every day during the summer. She was one proud girl at scout camp! Great review -as always!
I have the FH41 with the blue/grey handle scales and have owned it for several months and I love it. Very attractive in person, slim fit in the pocket and it's a slicing machine.
Got an FH21 in that blue. I call it a faded blue jeans blue, but that’s not totally accurate. Regardless, it is a nice color. Not neon blue or royal blue. Not aqua or some other weird variant. It’s something different than the same old black or green. Definitely worth having one knife in that color. At least.
Someone needs to travel to this Ganzo plant in China and explain how to use recessed screws on the pocket clips. Not that difficult!(and then drill and tap both sides of the scales, yoh, some people are left handed!) ~ Great review non-the-less Jake.
This knife doesn't need recessed screws because they put enough room in the loop, but some of their knives certainly need that. I don't understand why they do the left pocket clip on 80% of their knives and then think that oh on a few it's no longer important, I don't understand.
I originally ordered mine (black G10 version) in Aug 2019 from AliExpress for $26 US shipped. Apparently Canadian Customs rejected it because I never received it. AliExpress were great and reshipped it to a US mailbox in Niagara Falls US for me. I picked it up around Feb 2020 and it's been my main EDC since getting it. Great size, slim form factor and I don't mind using it for day to day tasks around the house where I was more hesitant to use my more expensive folders. Probably the best $26US I've spent on a folder. Oh, the cutout in the G10 by the lock release is not as pronounced on my copy so I assume they've made some changes to the design. You can see maybe .5 of a mm exposed above the G10 on my copy.
Whenever Canada Border Services Agency takes a knife they send you a letter explaining why, but the problem is that it can easily take a few months, but that means you should have gotten a CBSA letter back in November at the latest. If you didn't get such a letter then it probably got lost/stolen in the mail. :(
Canadian Cutting Edge Thanks, I thought they would but haven’t received any letter from them. I’m just glad AliExpress shipped a replacement as I’m really enjoying this knife. It’s refreshing to get a knife I really like for such an affordable price. Keep up the great content!
Which is the original, please let me know I am curious. I pretty much stick in the world of low budget knives so I often miss recognizing when Ganzo's knives are copies.
@@CanadianCuttingEdge Some people were calling it a copy of the Gareth Bull Shamwari. While the blade shape is similar to some of his models, I just don't see it as a copy, too many differences.
Ganzo must have made some improvements because on my blue FH41, the G10 is flush on the side with the locking tab. It isn't exposed as you mention. Just thought I'd inform anyone looking to buy.
I just got their latest fh41 from aliexpress.. it got a two position pocket hole now for a lefties.. and the detent is quite stiff now, i can't shake it open unlike my older fh41.. seem like ganzo is listening to their customer complain.. i lost the older fh41 and after several week using CH3002, i still want my ganzo.. CH d2 blade retention is really uncomparable to a ganzo..
I make a video about fixing a detent but not your exact issue. I plan to do another video on how to fix that exact issue, as it is not uncommon, especially in the budget knife market. You can make taht detent work better. it's a slight variation on this video: th-cam.com/video/5zzJwIuah10/w-d-xo.html You do the same thing as on that video except you don't make the hole bigger, what you do is chamfer the hole just a tiny bit. if that doesn't make sense, then wait for the video - but it won't be very soon, I have so much on my schedule right now.
I do all sales via email - please e-mail me at CanadianCuttingEdge AT gmail.com I live in Alberta so it would definitely be shipped via Canada Post. I sell for 80% OF the retail cost + the actual cost to mail. I provide a custom knife sharpening and a clean, lube, and optimize each knife I sell. I look forward to hearing from you in my email.
I really like the 41. I did a finger choil mod on mine & now it feels even better when choking up on the blade. I like the G10 handles because they feel better in the hand. I like the finger cut out on the lock side. With the blade open, that removed G10 allows the index finger to go all the way around without running into a ledge there. Ganzo FH41 was my favorite knife until i got the Civivi Incite. Now it's my second favorite.
I took mine apart, wiped everything inside and lubricated the bearings and put it back together. Easily done. I love the looks of the knife. I tried cutting some cardboard and it went through them as well as anything I've ever tried. I can feel the pocketclip sometimes but it's not too bad. My main concern with liner lock Ganzos is their lockup seems a bit too shallow for me. Other than that, I think they're great knives.
Thanks for sharing your perspective on the knife. Your concern that the lockup is to "shallow" for you - do you mean the lockbar is not engaged enough or that the lockbar goes too far over? There is no one right way to talk about how much engagement the lockbar has but most poeple talk about "early" lockup and "late" lockup where late lockup means the lockbar goes much or most of the way across the tang of the blade getting too close to the liner on the opposite side. If you think lockup is too early then you have fairly easy remedy option, you can take the knife apart and use a sharpening stone to grind a tiny bit away from the end of the lockbar. If you try this make sure you do it in very tiny increments so that you don't end up making too much of an adjustment.
At this point I've decided to just carry a knife slip. Tired of knives not offering left side carry. With a slip you just remove the clip, and have less hot spots as a bonus. Draw speed goes to crap, but I don't care about that...

The blue G-10 makes that look awesome. The G704 has that Kephartesque type blade, which I'm sure excels at woodscrafting as well.

About 24.29 USD in Thailand. My next blade, of course.
I am allways happy when i see that you uploaded a new video! :D and allready looking forward to the next
I haven't gotten mine yet, but yours seems to flip open a lot easier than a couple of their early flippers.

HI Jake. I read your terms and I agree. I sent you my address on g-mail.
I want a G10 one. Whats the cheapest international shipping source? Fasttech shows them as discontinued, no luck on banggood, no luck on gearbest.
Check out Ali-Express.
@@ArsLanHGunner only the CF and weird green one :(
Where to buy Ganzo FH41 in Canada?
No stores in Canada have them :(
You have to risk CBSA confiscating them when you import them.
@@CanadianCuttingEdge Can you fly back into Canada with pocket knife in checked luggage?

Or just make a lefty version.
That is a GREAT ask but quite unlikely to happen. They have not made any Leftie knives... yet.
