I just bought a black platinum last week at MSRP. I had to travel to a dealership 40 miles away as my local dealer marked it up $10k over MSRP. I got a lot of satisfaction telling my local dealer that I paid "only" MSRP at a nearby dealership. It's all fake. Gouging and fleecing of America. I used to sell new, used, certified pre-owned. Back when the 2005 Mustang GT came out. I was selling MSRP due to availability. GT only. And ONLY then. Otherwise, the American consumer kicked our *sses!!
They were so highly informed, thoroughly researched, with product knowledge and invoice pricing right at their fingertips.
EVERYTHING was going for invoice. And the dealership was surviving on hold back.
We only made good money on plan buyers.
I don't know what kind of drugs current new car buyers are on these days. $9500 over sticker for a Kia?! Are you serious?!
2005, I had the utmost respect for the American car buyers. A real worthwhile challenge. Made my selling experience rewarding. Truly an "earned" income.
This new car silliness nowadays is embarrassing at best.

@snakeplissken8506 cause I want a built truck that has a warranty. So that way, if anything fails, it is all covered by Toyota! I need a few more mods to have my overland build complete. Like I could have gone with a cheaper truck and gotten other upgrades, and it would have been cheaper. but I also wanted all the bells and whistles that come with it! And then I would of had to deal with others for warranty. Plus toyota is known for voiding warranties for some of the mods I would of gotten that come standard on this truck. And for reference, I priced out a 3500 gmc dually that had the bells and whistles I would have wanted, and it was at 92k, and then it started saying contact dealer for pricing. TRD pro or TRD off road? I have a hard time believing that. Lowest MSRP on a 21 TRD pro was around 53k. These were near impossible to find at MSRP let alone under unless maybe you are an employee or something to get that much under MSRP. You would have had to purchase that in the high 40s. My 2016 feels better, looks better to me. Toyota Corp did not listen to its core previous Tundra owners. They can keep their V6 and Hybrids because I’m not buying.🤨 The prices and Mark-Ups are unworthy for this New Tundra by any explanations. That dealer markup on the 1st platinum you showed is NUTS especially with it not being optioned out that much. I have the 2022 platinum in the same color with the 6.5 foot bed, power running boards, advanced package, and hard cover and the MSRP was $66,624 (which is what I paid before factoring in my trade-in and down payment). While I do wish the TRD off-road package was an available option it probably wouldn't have made much sense for me to add it given off-roading is not something I anticipate doing much of (still probably would have added it being the impulsive shopper I am so it's for the best that I couldn't). It probably would have made more financial sense to stick to the SR5 TRD Sport, but I liked the look of the Platinum better and wanted the additional options. With that said I definitely do miss my Camry payments compared to the Tundra platinum payment so I definitely understand the people that have changed their minds and traded back out.

Traded it in for a platinum trim. Other one had his 2018 Tahoe take a shit on his wife. Traded it in for the new sequoia since they have 3 kids and didn’t think a 2018 would die.

I instantly got buyers remorse and not so much because of the price but it just didnt feel like the big tough and rugged tundra that I knew. Lots of cheap plastic and overall a smaller truck. I started looking for used 21 TRD pros but they are still selling in 23 for way over what they were new. I still would unload mine for a 21 TRD pro at the right price but this truck is growing on my now and over 5k miles. I do love the tech, smooth ride and it's way better at towing. I've gained a solid 5 mpg better with this truck too. For now I'll hang on to it and honestly I don't think I can go to a short bed I've always had a 6.5 bed.

My 2018 1794 edition Tundra with matching hard bed cover with only 15K miles was $48k with 4% interest in 2021. In 2023 it only has 35k miles on it. I am laughing at the prices now and what people are paying. Wait till the prices drop because people will not pay the prices. Dealerships are going to be dropping like flies.

They know we are disappointed with the downgraded motors they don’t care because they building what the government wants. For fuel mileage. Every knows at this point. We don’t want full sized suvs and pick up trucks with anything less that a v8 it’s simply too big and heavy for them little motors. Little motors coupled with turbos and high compression ratios equates to a short life span at more cost to the customer. If you can’t afford gas for a v8 your not really using the truck for what it’s meant for.. WORK! Iv lost all interest in the tundra with this generation.

(Well have you looked in the mirror lately?)
I paid $4450 for a 1 ton, '08 super duty turbodiesel. Okay, admittedly it only had hand crank windows. But mpg near 20mpg, and air condition. A work truck, it generated $94,700 May to May gross income. I think America needs to see mental physicians, and stop self medicating themselves with high end automobiles.

I remember seeing a trd pro for 50k a few years ago now they are 80. Anyone paying these prices has issues. It's not just Toyota either it's all of them. People need to stop buying this crap. Let these companies sweat and keep driving what you have. I make damn good money but I refuse to pay these prices. Ridiculous. A sr5 should be 45k unless it's fully loaded.
