    The no dual citizenship thing is a deal-breaker for me. The Dutch overseas territories does present an interesting way in, but having to swap my Canadian travel documents for The Netherlands seems like a wash. I would agree, showing up with a Dutch passport is likely to be about as well received a passport as you will find in the world.
    I do like the people in The Netherlands much better. Not pretentious, a bit reserved but they warm up quickly. And, this feature is for the ladies, I've never in my life felt short like I do when I'm strolling around Amsterdam. At 6'4", I usually tower over almost everyone. Not so in The Netherlands. Young men, old me, doesn't matter. It seems I can stand and talk to half the nation and look them squarely in the eyes. Even more than a few of the women are north of 6'. I don't think the same can be said of Frenchmen, so for all the single ladies looking for a man you can wear heels around, The Netherlands beckons.
    Ah, but France. If I had to spend a lot of time in one of the two, it has to be France. I feel like you could spend months, even years exploring France. The Netherlands, I feel like a couple of weeks and you would have a good handle on the place. And unless the Dutch are going to be taking territory from another European nation, they can't compete with France's spot on the Med. Where better to spend the summer months?
    I do wonder who would win the cheese showdown. And yes, Schiphol over CDG any day of the week!

    1:56 As a french, I confirm that the average french population does not speak english 😀
    That said, I'm a little surprised at the lenient tax score you gave for France. In reality, it should be more Lenine than lenient. The effective tax rate is super high, fragmented in many little taxes with different names and wording, like "taxe", "impôt", "cotisation", "salaire différé", "TVA", "flat tax", "droit de succession" and so on. And they multiply alltogether. France is very creative when it comes to hide taxation through semantics. Government never communicates on the effective tax rate, or else it would be the revolution. I computed that the french effective tax rate is around 65% to 75%, rising up to 90% when someone dies. I call that a soviet country.

    It is unfair match for the Netherlands. I am french living in the Netherlands. And if I have 8 figures seating in my account/assets then I would prefer to be in french riviera and occasionally going to Paris or the Luxury ski stations like Courchevel rather than being in the Netherlands. Further more the Netherlands have ABC caraibean islands but France has Goudeloupe, Martinique, saint Martin and ultra-rich destination Saint-barts. Then there is Saint Pierre et Miquelon next to Canada, there is Reunion and Mayotte in the Indian Ocean, New-caledonia in the Pacific and more...for a ultra high networth individual France wins easily

    I love this video format! I love all European countries, but I notice that Dutch people speak excellent English, while bigger countries like Franch and Germans feel like they're big enough that they don't need to learn English. Also, in terms of preception, France has more colonialism in Africa and Caribbean (Haiti), so preception is more about what not to do, and there smaller countries win. I think Netherlands slightly wins, if I had to pick a winner.

    There is a "hidden" but very obvious detail in this video that I absolutely adore. The painting in the center is a reproduction of a fresco called "White Angel" from the Serbian monastery Mileshevo (13th century). It is one of the great achievements of European art... but it actually has many meanings.

      But speaking of the topic, passports. The Netherlands is bad because it doesn't allow dual citizenship, and that is game over. But more importantly, The Netherlands blindly follows American cultural dictate (wokeness) and ultra left marxism has a lot of momentum. There are a lot of privileged people mostly in the cities who vote for unreasonable parties and policies (the best term to describe them is "champagne socialists"). The recent elections in the NL showed how much the rest of the people are fed up with it, so the anti-establishment party (PVV) won the most votes - but not enough to independently form a government. The champagne socialists (woke) compete who is going to be more righteous, and in that competition they devastate the life standard, purchasing power of the middle class.

      @subimaginos 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      One more thing - The Netherlands is a tax haven, but only for ultra large corporations. The famous double Dutch Irish sandwich is a tax scheme used by such corporations. When it comes to taxing ordinary people and middle class - the NL is very efficient.

    I am Dutch and what is also bad in the Netherlands is that you can't change your last name (only by a few exceptions where you need approval from the King). I found this out myself the hard way after marrying abroad. Netherlands is only one of the few countries where you can't change your last name unfortunately.

    You can get a French passport after being married to a French citizen for 4-5 years (depending on certain conditions). Be prepared for certain checks though, they will make sure it is a real marriage, and not just for the papers (as they should). Also, marrying a French citizen resembles a bit like going through some kind of due diligence, I had to gather a nice bunch of papers (over 100 grams of them) to submit to the French authorities before they would allow me to marry my wife. They still go by some medieval system that a marriage has to be announced for 10 days in case somebody "objects"... so they will pin a paper somewhere announcing your wedding and providing there are no complains, they will give you the green light. I am not joking.

    Saying that if u are a Netherland tax citizen or resident its almost impossible to leave it's very wrong.....Its not the USA were the taxes follow you all over the world. U can easily leave The Netherlands and live in a different country. If u unsubscribe yourself as a resident of The Netherlands with your local government, u do not have to pay taxes anymore. Also : if u want to stay an Dutch tax residenct u can still be in different countries for 8 months out of the 12 and stay a Dutch tax resident....

      Not true at all, unregistering is simply not enough. The literal code says: it depends on facts and circumstances. Then you look at the court litetature and see that they have a huge list of things to call somebody a tax resident. Actually having a toothbrush is one of them not a joke.

      @@burnout486 It actually is. I'm from The Netherlands and unregistered myself and still having my Dutch passport. they deliberately make it a vague concept in the law because there are many gray areas and then the government can apply how it suits them. Like u said : it depends on facts and circumstances. This is a very broad concept. If u unregister yourself and make sure u can proof u are an tax resident somewhere else, the NL government is not saying shit about this...Unregister and not being in the Netherlands for more then 6 months a year is surely enough not to get into any arguement with the government or what so ever.
