What a great help, Jonathan. I do have a question regarding your production setup. What mic is that you use for recording? Why did you choose that one? I plan to be doing distance lessons and I can certainly hear distinct nuances, even through TH-cam. I'm sure that is more of a testament to your playing. But, I want a true sound, however difficult to tolerate at my level. 🤣
I have an AKG p120, but I wouldn't totally recommend it. I got it because I figured a decent LDC would be good enough, but it really doesn't do anything special. The room I was playing in also wasn't great, and that's more important than if your mic is $100 or $1k. Check out Steve Metcalf's stuff to hear some great bass recording (and lots of other cool stuff!)
