Anybody else still wishing the speedvision channel was still a thing. I really miss the programs and drive in theatre show with great classic films, first saw vanishing point on there and started a life long passion for mopar muscle.

Thanks so much for this history lesson. The sound of the 1912 is literally music to my ears, as was the 1914. But I was wincing at the transmission of the 1914. "If you can't find em, grind em!"

I usually enjoy your videos, but I also found myself smiling several times during this video. Really cool cars and well explained motor and gearbox functions.

What a wonderful video! I have seen the 1912 No. 8 National at the Speedway Museum that won the 500 that year, a sister car to this one, and there is a similar National at the Simeone Foundation Museum in Philadelphia. Big, well-made cars but a handful to drive at speed, clearly. The Mercer is gorgeous but i am thankful I have syncromesh gears in my Corvette! it is terrific that Jim Grundy allows these fascinating cars to be exercised.

"Fun old classic American built cars" that is neat looking styles and a real training vehicle to learn from in appreciation.
Are thee any videos about the late, great, Ted Horn, who placed high in many Indy 500's in the 1930' and '40's but never won the great race?

@@MyClassicCarTV I just started reading 'The Great Bridge' by David McCullough, which I'm sure will be just as interesting and readable as '1776', 'The Path Between the Seas' and 'Mornings On Horseback'. I'm a history buff who also likes machinery of all kinds, and I thank you for your excellent presentations. Wright Flyer, USAF (1968-1972).

In 1912, there was not a #11 entry in the Indy 500. Also, National only had 3 entries, not 5 as was mentioned in the video. All National entries were blue and white. Joe Dawson won in 1912 in a National which is in the IMS Museum. So that only leaves 2 Nationals from 1912. If this is truly one of them, why change the number? The plaque at 1:26 on the grill says it "toured" the track in 1959.
    I need clarification. Beautiful car!!!
