It is 100% Clock Man. I always remembered the girl being in trouble for something, but I never recalled it specifically being shoes. I absolutely recognized the gloves as soon as I saw them.
Everything about the jumpy animation style is absolutely how I remember it.
And knitting the stars! I am blown away. These scenes have played though my head for more than 30 years. Absolutely, without a doubt, this is what I remember as a child.

A tiny little detail being off (shoes instead of gloves) is perfectly understandable for such an old memory. This is it, I have no doubt in my mind whatsoever.

So turns out The Clock Man was some mildly creepy but harmless Czech animated short titled "About Dressy Sally" (i think according to most translators). All I can say is that Pinwheel imported a lot of weird and bizarre shit for their segments.
That was the nature of the program, you didn't know what came next (unless you watched it over and over and could figure it what got repeated over time). A lot of it was very much foreign content like this. Stuff that didn't have much relation to what a came before or after though at times Pinwheel tried to fit a theme around it.
I will say for a long time, I forgot this short existed, even after hearing of this Clock Man thing, since the "Commander Santa" take of the story didn't sound like something Pinwheel would show, but after watching this, the memory of that music and the yellow gloves she lost did come back to me. It had been over 30 years and I never thought to ask my mom to record episodes of these when they aired (I was 5).
welcome to most "children's" content in general up until the late '80s/early '90s. Remember: most things were never really made with children in mind, so if it was animated, they thought "good enough".
I loved the European and British cartoons that they showed on Pinwheel. Some of it I remembered from Captain Kangaroo (Simon in the Land of Chalk Drawings, Crystal Tipps and Alastair); some of it was new to me. That show was how I fell in love with Paddington Bear (they showed those wonderful FilmFair shorts).
I dont think this is bizzare or weird especially with the Czech dub

I'm glad that this mystery was finally solved. I hope that person, who wanted to find this video, was able to finally able to see it, and that they get the closure they were looking for. I love when lost media is found, and hopefully we can find even more.

I don't know what to say. This is surreal. It doesn't feel real. I wasn't involved with the search, and honestly not really with lost media in general, but I felt connected to the community in a way that makes me feel for everyone that was. This truly is the end of an era.

OMG. I'm 38 and this scared the **** out of me as a child. I remember this and I am so glad someone FINALLY found it!
Same here we're the same age. The part/s that stuck in my head to this day is, the Wizard's face appearing in those trees. I've carried a memory of seeing a creepy black bearded & haired man's face, appearing in trees in a cartoon that I saw as a child. But over the years I've began to doubt that it was real. Perhaps it was a dream I thought? Now I know it was real, and it's a sweet little story.

I mean the wizard is rather dark looking and the things he can do, come in & out of that clock. I remember his face appearing in those trees, that creeped me out. I saw this on Pinwheel it was in English, back in the 1980s.
@@watchensee i saw this in the og dub which is great and the voice is calming. I never was creeped out because czech and slovak language are similar. Plus the story was similar to a classic czech/slovak fairy tale.

Thanks for noticing! I actually forgot this film existed at all since I probably hadn't seen it since I was 6! Watching this again, I barely remember the clock turning into a window of sorts and the girl knitting stars to put in the sky.

The way the wizard tells Sally exactly where he is as he's coming for her is definitely creepier than the English version.
I cant believe they actually found this, out of all the current searches this is the one I doubted would ever be successful. I actually enjoyed it more than I expected to as well. This def would have creeped me out as a little kid.

I am from Slovakia and these style of cartoons are aired always at 8pm these are just night time cartoons for kids. These cartoons were made in the 70s czechoslovakia and they are re aired and I remember when I was like 5yrs old I watched these cartoons and then go to sleep. These cartoons are not scary for me but actually quite nostalgic.
My Czech is pretty rusty but I've managed to make a basic translation for people who were curious

HOLY SHIT!!! Now that I see it translated I remembered this was a scary story that my mom used to tell me and my brothers when we were little kids!! Except she would stop after the "steps" part at 3:10 and leave me shuddering in my bed at night. Glad I never saw the real thing

As a czech man, i am proud that the most famous piece of found/lost media comes ftom here XD. We had a pretty distinct animation style during our communist years, definetly looks like something i would watch as a kid. I'll make sure to show this to my kids if i have any.

Me encantó la animación: la música hermosa, la voz del narrador Checoslovaco le da a la animación un toque sublime y a la vez tranquilo y calmado , el dibujo simple pero llega a ser artístico, los colores, la trama simple pero con una bonita moraleja el cual es siempre ser honesto, los 70's, Pinwheel, el Bloque del Este (Checoslovaquia pertenecía al bloque sovietico), Chevoslovaquia cuando estaba unida y la antiguedad y semí-degradado del sonido y los colores se mezclan y ofrece un hermoso y dulce sentimiento de nostalgia. Algo que según mi opinión y debido a que tuve una infancia muy distinta a la de estas nuevas generaciones ya desgraciadamente no se ve en la animación de la actualidad; hoy ya todo es simplón, la animación simple pero estilístico y artístico de las animaciones antiguas se cambiaron por las feas animaciones en flash y los diseños repetitivos de "Potato face", las bonitas lecciones se cambiaron por humor de escusado y absurdo que hace a los personajes actuales como tontos, la musica de las series actuales son olvidables y sin chiste.
En síntesis, animaciones como esta son de las que ya no hay, y es una pena que ya no se esfuercen actualmente en entregar algo de calidad como esto, Los cambios nunca son buenos y la "des-evolución" de la animación, música y moda actuales son un buen ejemplo de ello y solo refuerzan mi hipotesis... Excelente animación, mis felicitaciones a los Checoslovacos que la animaron.

Fun fact: The narrator of this tale is Rudolf Hrušínský Sr., who played the Good Soldier Švejk in the old movie adaptation. (If you don't know who Švejk is, it's the protagonist from a Czech book with the same name that has been translated to over 50+ languages.)

It's now been almost six years since Clockman was found (nearly the same amount of time it took to search for it) and I still can't help but laugh at how utterly shocked and confused the poor individual(s) running this channel must have been when this video started blowing up in popularity out of seemingly nowhere.

The most beutyfull old short i ve seen and the music is a masterpice
WOW. So this is it? After so many years, the wishes of so many people have been granted.
And the animation reminds me so much of the studio behind Pigeon Street and Musical Mother Goose. Stop-motion but with a surprisingly amount of in-betweens that it does look more drawn than using separate paper pieces.

I'm looking for a cartoon...? It's a series and the characters are unique. I remember seeing it on hulu,, the characters didn't have legs, but they walked with a giant spring as they hopped around. It was a boy and a girl and their facial expressions hardly changed. The tune was very lively and there were other characters too, also using one giant spring as legs. Somebody help find this please? I've looked everywhere... I'll be glad to answer any questions about the cartoon that I remember.
