The latest version (Oct 2022) is even better than this old video shows. Easier set up and less flex on lifting. A must have bit of kit for anyone servicing an AGA. Rob is obviously a perfectionist and this lifter (and the box) reflect the amount of development he’s put into it over the years.

The simple ways are the best.
Really great. Have forwarded to friend.
Every Aga man should have one ---- Especially how much they charge and they are all getting older, and not so agile!

I made a similar crane out of wood and rope to do it. Low headroom above my Aga is a limiting factor.

Well done, simple things are often the best solution.
My kit is designed to cope with limited headroom.

that's brilliant , a great idea ... you could go a few steps further maybe? and the footplate could be on a pivot that can be loosed to swing down and lock into place then obviously in reverse loosened off and folded up out of the way , and the clamp for the bar could essentially be in two lockable half's that again are able to slide on the main strut and can be slid together to meet the bar then tightened together and locked off, then again obviously loosened and moved out of the way for disassembley, essentially the lifting arm could work in much the same way as a microphone stand allowing you to loosen the arm piece in the pivot positioning area and slide it out to lift and slide it back and fold it out of the way , making it all one piece of completely foldable and storable , functional and saleable equipment? lots of idea's there ... just a genius idea you have .. and maybe worth marketing.

      Hi Leon.
Glad you like it. Thanks for taking the time to add your thoughts. I am marketing the lifter via my website and they are proving to be very popular.
Sadly this has all kicked off at the wrong age for me as I'm about to downsize and retire and I won't have a workshop any more. Simplicity and few materials make it quite cheap to make, sure it could be better but much more expensive. Do you want to take it on? I've sold about 60 in 12months so it could run and run!
      Thanks.
      Rob.

      @@chagfordrob September 2020.
Despite downsizing in 2016 I'm still able to supply my AGA Lifting Kit, worldwide!
I've built the ideal man-cave-workshop in the garden to allow me to continus with the kits.
I've a great engineer in Exeter (SB Engineering) who makes all the componants for me, and I make the boxes, assemble the kits and dispatch by courier. Take care everyone and stay safe.

Our AGA doesn't have the removable center plugs. Instead it has 2 small holes opposite each other where I imagine some kind of tool could be inserted to lift it out. Any ideas what that might be / how I might fashion something to do the same job?

I often find the bung gets wedged and is difficult to remove. I’ve tried WD40 and also heating it if the aga is cold, doesn’t always work. Ideas please ?

      Hi Stephen.
That’s a new one on me.
If you can get it out, I’d try to identify where it’s getting wedged and file or grind the high spot off. It should turn freely in the hole.
Might there be a build up of debris making it tight?
There are several high temperature“anti-seize” greases available from motor factors etc, copper-slip was a traditional one used on exhaust fittings etc. that might help.
