We were on a cruise during the same time frame in the Caribbean. It was so windy and cool that the Captain of our ship cancelled our stop at Cocoa Kay because the waves were 6-8 foot high, and it was too dangerous to tender. We heard stories of 5 destinations being canceled for one of the longer cruises during the same time period.

But like you said, sometimes things don't work out like you planned, however the important thing is to do the best that you can in whatever situation that you are in. You still had to chance to relax and spend time with your family. The memories and the bond that you've created are priceless.

Interesting fact about Southwest is that we send our aircraft to El Salvador for high maintenance! My dad is from El Salvador and I've never been there watching this VLOG makes me want to go visit it so bad! Sadly we don't fly there yet to fly stand by :(
That is traveling for you things don't always go as planned. My hubby and I had to change travel plans from international next year to local hopefully we get timeshare we put in for Boston. Since we trying for a baby and its been on going for a year and a half we just were like if it does happen and I want to travel this is what will have to work for us this year. Its ok at least you had a good time and I know we will too if we get our destination we put in for crossing our fingers we do get it. I had to come to terms that if I wanted to travel and if I do get prego at that time then I am at least in the US with good medical care any where in any state.
Work for an airline and have gone on a few cruises. I always purchase plane tickets to avoid what you went through. Never can predict what the flights will be like. I guess I'm lucky though, our airline gives us 20% off the lowest revenue fare. So I book our flights early (at least 21 days out) to get the lowest fare possible and they take 20% off that. :) Sorry it didn't work out for you this time.

I have a bit of an odd question that's totally irrelevant to this video but when flying dead head, I know that technically you're working during that time but is there anything you have to do besides just fly to where you're going? If that makes sense. Also do you have to cover for the other attendants if say one of them doesn't show or if they get sick during the flight or something? Michael Stern we could've actually met them at the first port, in St Maarten, but the flights were full so we didn't even bother. Getting trip insurance is so good though because we got our money back.

Still standby, but they get to fly for free on my airline for domestic flight, or just pay the international taxes if they fly international. We also have agreements with other airlines so our families can travel on other airlines for a very small fee.

It depends honestly, I feel safe in both countries because we have family there and they know where to go. The drive from Guatemala City to the resort was about 3 hours.
