I'm turning 50 this week and I'm pretty excited about it. As you get older more and more pressure just falls off your shoulders. At least that's my experience. That's why I often worry about young people. They have even more pressure put on them then when I was in my 20's. Sometimes I'm thinking, maybe we should extend young adulthood by some years. That way we can give young people some time off to have fun. And we could have all kinds of programs for them, like sports, art, science, etc. They could join if they would like to, but it wouldn't be about measuring performance.
Well I'm 40 now, but thankfully realised at 30 that society pushes you into things you may not want and went a different route. 40 is now like 30, but with a lot more existential crisis..
Glad I'm not in my 20s any more, comfortably in my mid 30s... It presumably alright if everything about your life falls into place and you had a bit of a head start in life/no issue in your upbringing ect. Otherwise it can take time to reckon with what the world is like, learn to live with yourself and just feel alright in your own company ect.
Tom - loved this - you can bring other interesting folks to our attention - like Leena - because i TRUST your judgement + you have a wider 'pool of interesting folks' than I do, so for me it's a useful shortcut to FIND such additional humans - and if the actual CONTENT is useful/fun - double-wammy !! :-)
