    TGV/EGR deletes I didnt talk much about but I believe that they are absolutely necessary for this platform to eliminate carbon buildup.

    You need more subscribers. Your video is very informative about each part. I have a list of stage 2+ parts I was going to buy at once and watching this just sealed the deal. Lucky for me in Cali I have access to a great number of tuners nearby, but 91 octane sucks. I'm hoping to break 300whp on a similar setup on pump gas.
    Any plans on building your short block just to have a peace of mind? From the looks of it stage 2 with protune looks pretty reliable on stock internals.

      @dwelker284  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. So glad I could help, mainly the reason why I did the video. You should be able to make it over that number even on 91. If you have E85 that will certainly do it. I don't have plans to go with a built block unless I have issues. Bren told me that the FA is really strong and with a good tune there won't be any issues. If there is an issue I'll most likely build the block but I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

    So you still have the car? I currently have a 2016 wrx limited w/ Invidia N1 dual exhaust. I would like to go stage 2 eventually, I’m just worried about long term reliability.

      @dwelker284  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I no longer have the car but as long as you get a good tune you have nothing to worry about.

    You talked about lowering - thoughts on how? RCE yellows? Coils? Been contemplating it personally.

    • @dwelker284
      @dwelker284  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kelvin Jan I will most likely go with RCE Yellows myself. Coils are a bit too harsh and low for me.

    derek,
    I'm about to decide on stage 1 v 2 at brentuning. My only hesitation is volume. do you think your setup is the quietest stage 2 j pipe/ exhaust pairing possible? how close to stock is your sound? great videos, very instructive.

    • @dwelker284
      @dwelker284  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +cygrey BrenTuning is definitely the way to go. No regrets there. My exhaust is not the quietest due to my downpipe. When I was stage 1 my catback(Q300) was barely louder than stock. Since going to a catless downpipe it became much louder but not super loud. Its fairly quiet in my opinion but loud when you want it to be. If you want to have the quietest aftermarket setup then go with the Cobb catted and resonated downpipe with the Q300. I think you would be happy with just a catted downpipe and the Q300 but it is up to you. I have some exhaust videos too that might help. Also in cabin exhaust videos so you can hear what it sounds like inside the car.

    I wanna go stage 2 and get a few mods, but what I want to get will surely put me around that 350wtq number and I don't wanna bend the rods. Guess I'll just get an intake and exhaust, maybe a EBCS and BPV.

    • @dwelker284
      @dwelker284  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      StarzXFP those are some good mods. It will certainly be fun for sure!

    • @StarzXFP
      @StarzXFP 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will be! I can't wait til it gets warmer. How has your stage 2 held up reliability wise?

    • @dwelker284
      @dwelker284  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      StarzXFP it's been good. I have over 30k on the car and it's been fine. I'm running meth injection now so it's even faster but it's help up fine.

    • @StarzXFP
      @StarzXFP 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How much of those 30k miles have been stage 2? I'm 50/50 trying to find more info about reliability or stage 2 failures

    • @dwelker284
      @dwelker284  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      StarzXFP tuned at 1k miles and stage 2 at 5k I believe. It's been stage 2 almost the entire time. With a good tune the reliability is fine.

    I just added the cobb big sf intake into my 17 wrx. it sounds awesome but i have to really hit the gas to hear it, seems like some people dont have to drive that hard and their intake spools up really loud. why is that?would having a catless downpipe help with that?

    • @dwelker284
      @dwelker284  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      wraloced .MacDaddyMarko I have no idea. Could be the throttle mapping making it feel that way.

    great video bro! have you checked out the verticooler. from what ive researched it gets better gains than the other tmic. how much mileage have you put on since stock tune?how much have you spent on mods so far? im barely at 3k miles on my 16 and im still on the fence if i want to mod or not since its my daily.

    • @dwelker284
      @dwelker284  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Carlos Hernandez The Verticooler is great but because I already have a charge pipe I want to keep that. If you get a verticooler you have to get their charge pipe too and I like the PRL charge pipe better. The KillerB TMIC is great too but there just isn't a lot of information about it. I had the stock tune on for around 1k miles and then went OTS Stage 1. I have like 13k on the car and I think more than half of the miles I've been PROtuned for. I have spent a lot of money on mods. In the thousands for sure. If you rode in my car you wouldn't think twice about modding.

    • @ProducerSolo
      @ProducerSolo 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Derek Welker that sounds great! ill check out the killer b tmic. you should hit a 1/4 mile n get a slip. i bet youre cracking into the 11s. keep up the great build and keep us posted!!

    • @dwelker284
      @dwelker284  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Carlos Hernandez it should be in the upper 12's. With E85 it should be in the 11's but I definitely need to make it to the track.

  • @Itzbrosephbruh
    @Itzbrosephbruh 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    My 17 wrx makes a slight noise while engine breaking. If I clutch in it goes away. Is that a normal subbie thing or am I just being paranoid? Car works just fine though.

    • @dwelker284
      @dwelker284  7 ปีที่แล้ว

    noob question. will the catless downpipe pass inspection in rochester?

    • @dwelker284
      @dwelker284  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +louves118 Catless wont pass a visual inspection. The best bet is to talk to a mod friendly inspection place. I go somewhere where there is not a visual inspection and as long as it passes with no codes then its fine.

    where abouts in mass is the tuner located? I am from mass and about to buy the wrx and will tune it in the future

      Brentuning is the company. Google them and you'll find it. I believe it's like an hour west of Boston.

    Hey, im going with similar mods minus deletes and charge pipe.
    You did go with an Air Oil seperator?

    • @dwelker284
      @dwelker284  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Charge pipe you should definitely get. It made a pretty big difference. No I do not have an AOS but eventually I'll get one of those or a catch can.

    Your car smoke when idle at a stop with the catless j pipe?

    • @dwelker284

      Wrx Carlos yea it's common with catless cars.

  • @Itzbrosephbruh

    If i was to purchase the nameless bpv would i need a tune? and is there a noise difference with it over the stock one

    • @dwelker284
      @dwelker284  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I dont believe it is required but I would as well. The stock one leaks so it might make a difference. Probably not much though. Definitely a noise difference. Not louder but just sounds better.

    I'm looking into doing the charge pipe on my car but tuner says I'm not gonna notice to much gains without an upgraded intercooler. Was thinking of the process west verticooler since it came with a charge pipe but I'll probly do a front mount. But till then was thinking of doing a charge pipe anyways. What you recommend? I see you have a PrL charge pipe

    • @dwelker284
      @dwelker284  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eric Zimmerman I did the charge pipe before I had an intercooler and the gains were noticeable. An intercooler is a good upgrade though. Depending on your budget you can split them up or do it all together like the process West.

    • @ezimm81
      @ezimm81 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Derek Welker yea my budget isn't gonna allow me to to an intercooler and for the price of the verticooler for about 300 bucks more I can get a front mount. But that may not be till next year. I wanna get those sequential headlights lol. But how you like the nameless bpv? Was thinking of upgrading mine after seeing the boomba demonstration. My tuner says stock is perfectly fine and they don't recommend upgrading but my car is going back on the dyno in 2 weeks so I was gonna get the boomba or the nameless and their gonna smoke test it to make sure it's all good

    • @dwelker284
      @dwelker284  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eric Zimmerman the boomba one is cheaper and functions just as good. I personally think the nameless sounds better but that's me. I'd pass on the headlights for go fast parts. Again, my opinion.

    Aren't bren's number normally stupid high? Not that it really matters. Where are you located btw? I went to Agile for my 2014.

    • @dwelker284
      @dwelker284  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +BTroxTV Bren has a mustang dyno which reads the lowest usually. Dynojets are known to read really high. His 2015 wrx baselines are around 220whp which is common among other mustang dynos. Im located in Rochester NY.

    • @BenTroxell
      @BenTroxell 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Derek Welker Great gains then. I was tuned on a dynapack which reads pretty high.

    • @dwelker284
      @dwelker284  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +BTroxTV Yea it doesnt really matter the final numbers but the gains over stock. Its a significant difference over stock.

      +Derek Welker great to hear man thanks.. is your catless downpipe and q300 really loud? probably not im assuming. im going to go with thia setup but im just wondering if the cold start might upset my neighbors at 527am :?

    • @dwelker284
      @dwelker284  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Carlos Hernandez honestly it's really tame. Cold starts are a bit much but that goes away in 20-30 seconds. It's fairly quiet for what it is. I wouldn't want it any quieter to be honest. I absolutely love it. In my opinion it's perfect.

    • @ProducerSolo
      @ProducerSolo 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Derek Welker awesome.. im at 6.7k miles and im about to get a similar setup going. i might try phatbotti tuning but have also heard good things from bren.. i spent a ton on cosmetic mods n wheels but im ready to try stage 2. thanks for your time! :)

    • @dwelker284
      @dwelker284  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Carlos Hernandez if you're going to do etuning and are considering either I would choose BrenTuning without a doubt. If you have a good tuner close I totally recommend driving to get a dyno tune. I drove 5 hours to go to brentuning. Either way with a setup similar to mine you won't be disappointed.
