The story was a jewel of wisdom and your narration was like a stark light brilliantly exposing every facade iof this simple yet profound revelation. As a writer/rancontuer,
I, Thank you for sharing. Your narration was excellent for this story. 🌹

I get the message of the story - books are one of the best friend of one's mind; still I find the story creepy.

That was beautiful, profound. He has the time to experience life in his mind without distraction and saw the emptiness of the world.

    I agree.
While capital punishment never did or does now, decreed crimes, if zou take a like you forfeit yours. Even more so when it is a very brutal or heinous crime.

In today's life imprisonment ,the offenders get some exercise ,fresh air for few hours ,which is their right ,mix with other prisoners if not on solitary sentence !! as a right

You forgot cable TV, basketball courts, free education, intimate partner visits, $$$$ books & movie deals from media for their salacious story, and who know what else... 😂😂

I'll have to find out the impetus for Chekov here, how he assessed this story later. It is, after all, pure fantasy.

So? all stories and storied novels are fantasy. you have NO respect for the writer of books, plays, film, poetry. . . you also have no Respect for actors, painters, composers or any other artistic work. good writers and actors work hard to get into other people’s heads. i suppose “Anna Karenina” or “Macbeth” is “only fantasy”.
      “only fantasy, my foot!”

[This is at the end, so you don’t think i get like this and then don’t say sorry for being angry. “maybe you didn’t mean to be so callous - if so, sorry for getting so upset. Also, i don’t mean to be callous either - that statement got to me and i don’t get p.o’d very often.
Do have a good day 🌷🌱”]
also, do you live your life without identifying and feeling emotions about plays, books, art, and music? i’d like to see you try. as you can see, unfortunately your comment made me quite angry. my husband was a writer, my parents were actors. Sesame Street is a fantasy as are Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse. maybe you didn’t mean to be so callous - if so, sorry for getting so upset. Also, i don’t mean to be callous either - that statement got to me and i don’t get p.o’d very often.
Do have a good day 🌷🌱
