I have been saying something like that for around 7 years.
It doesn't help that I have shaky hands too.
Maybe it would be easier for me to build a robot arm to do it for me.
I've been a welder for over 30 years 98% mig welding with a arc as well. I bought a Everlast ext 210 about 6 years ago. And I've tried several times to get into it. But, all those knobs just turn me right off. So I get I'll just let it set in the shop for looks. Tig welding takes to long to do anyways. But, I like watching it done.

Great video .. I'm still learning due to minimal torch time. Winters are too cold and damp in my garage.
Question for you Dusty or anyone using a water cooler set up. What can I use for water cooler fluid safely on my Everlast cooler on a budget. Some of the brand name fluids are pricy :(.
TIG welding continuing education course at local technical college is $126 for 8 three hour classes with really good instructors and a wide range of equipment. Very good results so far. MIG used to be a prerequisite, but no longer. I took MIG last year. Unbelievable bargain. Better than Harbor Freight. We watch some select TH-cam videos in class most days.
Start with stick. Learn how to flow the puddle then go to mig. Then go to tig.
The school I went to made me learn oxy-fuel brazing before I did TIG welding so I got used to having a torch in one hand and a filler rod in the other I know that most people watching this video will not have the opportunity to learn how to braise or Fusion weld with an oxy gas apparatus IE welding torch for gas welding it made it a lot easier and the other thing is I look at it this way I had already learned how to mig weld first and push the torch in that process so it was fairly easy to switch over to TIG welding since it's push only however what I struggle with is walking the torch I can freehand all day long but there's just some things you have to get into tight places and the only thing you can do is walk the torch and that is my Arch Enemy at the moment
HELP… have you ever tried to train someone with no depth perception? I am blind in one eye and I am trying to learn to TIG weld.
I’ve been watching all of your videos related to aluminum tig. My biggest challenge is location of my tip and filler rod as well as no idea what my settings should be. I have a TH-cam channel as well and have just started documenting this major challenge!

What do you think about the hynade welding machines
I recently purchased a new Everlast Lightning MTS 275 to learn TIG. My first project was to build a welding cart using some 1.5" 1/8" hot rolled angle. I cut up the pieces and a setup my machine for 120 amps to TIG the joints starting on the flat joints, figured that would be easiest. I was using a #10 pyrex with a gas lens and 20cf pure argon with 3/32" CK Layzer chartreuse. My results were absolutely terrible 😂. I realized that the default settings had no post flow at all. I was able to setup manually and managed to save some tungsten with a 5 second post flow. Things were still not great however. I cannot figure out why my tungsten tip just keeps deteriorating from a nice point, to just a mess, even when not dipping it. I prep the tungsten and things start off great, then after about 10 seconds it's a mess again. I was hoping things would be a bit easier to start on carbon steel, but it's not going well. My technique improved rapidly though as I am able to maintain a good arc length without dipping, travel speed needs work as does adding filler, but it's getting there. My tungsten however, is just getting really blunt really quick making it difficult to maintain a steady arc. Any tips?
A #10 cup size is way too big for only 120 amps and your tiny gas cylinder, use a way smaller cup size like a 5 and use 20-25 cfm
Make the tungsten have a small ball point by using dcep and switching to AC
@PacificArcTigWelding Could grinding both sides of tungsten be a good idea to double replacement tips in case of dipping?
Have you heard of the Azzuno 250 multi process machine. I've done mig and stick. Was wondering about the tig ability and are multi process machines worth their weight. Or should I get a dedicated machine
For a beginner, using an enormous gas lens cup, means it's more difficult to see the weld pool, and will mean a lot of gas is going to be used. Most of the settings on a modern inverter have more to with marketing than function, and the resulting complication makes things much harder for anyone trying to learn.
Its a real shame that both the enormous cups, and overly complicated Chinese made entry level machines, are so popular now, as these are both things that tend to make learning more difficult, and the increased gas used increases costs.
I started welding few weeks ago and i have few hours of training already. I just dont know whats wrong with my welds, they turn up dark even when teacher set up the machine the way he thinks it should work. (im plumber not welder and teacher aint welder either) I have size 8 cup, tried 40-70amps and 10-16 L/min. welds that are max 2cm wide turn up shiny with colors but when i start welding around a 88mm stainless steel pipe it does not work. I clean up the pipes with flap disk before trying to weld. I tagged you on tiktok to video of few of my welds :)
Black is due to bad gas coverage. I switched to an 12 fupa gas lens and boom, no more black. You are getting air in your torch somewhere. Check your torch connection at the head.
I will try to find bigger cups/lenses and try this next week! I will check the O ring too thats on the thing that keeps the tungsten in@@josephlegacy4879

Primeweld 325x over the 225x if you can afford it. One of the most reasonable options. Better than a comparable Miller or Lincoln at 1/2 price
