And once you pass your first assignment, then your first quiz, and eventually your first class, it will give you so much momentum.
It will also allow you to objectively see where you are strong and where you can improve. And you simply use what you've learned about yourself to get you through the next class, and the next, and so on.

Thanks for the content! I'm starting my IT journey with my 22 yr old son this month. We both are new to IT and are planning on taking on the WGU IT Management Degree once we complete all of the transfer classes with Study & Sophia. Unfortunately, we each do not have any existing transfer credits - so we'll need to knock out all available transfer courses (28) prior to entering WGU. I'm currently between jobs, so I can dedicate all my time towards this goal. Realistically how long do you think it should take for me to complete? I know its subjective, but just trying to set a realistic start date for WGU. Just subscribed, so I'll continue to follow your journey as well!

    • @tehczavier
      @tehczavier  ปีที่แล้ว +18

Congrats on taking the first step!
I think you could realistically get the transfer courses done within 3 - 6 months.
WGU on the other hand may be more like 3 more months. These are both conservative timeframes.
But really once you get started and knocking out classes, it becomes a game that you find yourself engaged in the more you play.

in my opinion, it depends on the speed you want to complete your degree, my employer offers an education benefit through guild education and their best university is purdue for BS in cybersecurity, however i recently learned that there is a limit of 2 courses per 10 week term, and even if you finish those 2 courses before the term is over you cannot take additional courses. based on what i've learned i've decided to opt for sophia since based on what everyone is saying, it's possible to hit more than 10 courses in a month even working a full time job, as opposed to university where they give you way more materials and papers to write, along with them more than likely being proctored as opposed to sophia.

Great question. It depended on the school. For example, all of Study.com's exams were proctored, however the proctoring was not live, but instead some one reviewed the upload stream of your exam.
For Sophia LLC, the courses that were "proctored" weren't done so in a traditional sense. Instead the school remembers your keystroke and uses that as form of authentication. Then the actual exam is open book and open notes.
Lastly, for WGU, the exam was more of a final exam and it was always a live proctor.

The business statistics course was not as bad as I thought it would be.
I survived lol. Is that one of the courses that you're worried about? I know for me, it was accounting that really scared me.

Also, if you're available between 5:00 am and 7:00 am (PST), I do live study-with-me sessions currently for my WGU courses. The sessions are hosted Monday through Friday. I'm not teaching or anything, but I am creating a virtual workspace to lock in on tasks with the community here on TH-cam.

    • @tehczavier

@@ADailyDoseOfGrace yes I did have repeat some of the quizzes multiple times. However that repetition allowed things to stick for me.
And with Study.com the proctored exam was really similar to the mandatory quizzes.
And lastly, Study.com's grading process made it where I knew I could 55 - 60% on am exam and still pass the class because of the total number of points.

I don’t feel like I understood enough, for many of the question I had to research. I did pass the milestone with open book from other questions and etc from web. I was imagining to finish all 17 courses of mine in around 35 days but idk if it’s possible. I’m doing business and at the same time as these courses too. What do you think? How long would it take for me to finish these classes? I really want to finish them under 2 months. Do you also have suggestions on how to understand and perform better?

First thing I would recommend is go at the pace that you are comfortable with.
Then reflect on your study approach.
You can sign up for two courses at a time with Sophia. One can be only exams and quizzes and the other can be a mix of both tests and written projects.
What I did was get started on the prompts for the essays while for one class while take the exams/quizzes for another.
