I remember seeing them in November 2002 in LA. Their opening act was Regina Specktor and someone yelled "You suck" during her set. She replied with "Fuck you!"
"tables they turn sometimes" I have been singing that line alllll day in my head. this really is a catchy song. it's so surprisingly good to me. so concise. so cool. it is just exquisitely simple.
ALL NEED THIS: In many ways, they'll miss the good old days Someday, someday Yeah, it hurts to say, but I want you to stay Sometimes, sometimes When we was young, oh man, did we have fun Always, always Promises, they break before they're made Sometimes, sometimes Oh, Maya says I'm lacking in depth I will do my best You say you wanna stay by my side Darlin', your head's not right See, alone we stand, together we fall apart Yeah, I think I'll be alright I'm working so I won't have to try so hard Tables, they turn sometimes Oh, someday... No, I ain't wastin' no more time And now my fears They come to me in threes So, I Sometimes Say, "Fate my friend, You say the strangest things I find, sometimes" Oh, Maya says I'm lacking in depth Say I will try my best You say you wanna stay by my side Darlin', your head's not right See, alone we stand, together we fall apart Yeah, I think I'll be alright I'm working so I won't have to try so hard Tables, they turn sometimes Oh, someday... I ain't wasting no more time
Who owns the rights to the footage of this performance? MTV? They need to release a cut of the original broadcast and an extended one with all the takes and between take banter.
I'd say that have elements from just about every decade since the 60's. Thats what makes them so unique and great. There is no other band remotely like them.
I guess I'll end up accepting the fact I'm not The Strokes' frontman, I'm not as handsome and charismatic as Julian, I did'nt tour the world with Fab, Nick, Nikolai and Albert, and I didn't write Someday, nor Reptilia or You Only Live Once. But I'm never gonna get over the fact I don't have Julian's voice. I'm in love with it.
He sounds a bit like Jim Morrison on this. It's rather good anyway. I love it when the strokes sound like they're getting ready for many nights on the piss x
Oh it was definitely on purpose. I think it was shot on older 70s-era cameras to make the footage look more vintage but it could still be cleaned up a bit for a DVD while retaining that feel. Fingers crossed.
well there are more high quality videos out there. the whole concert was filmed for an MTV special and they used 70s-era recording techniques and film to make it look "vintage"... but you're right, it fits.
@IndieRockOwns Dont worry man. i know how that feels.. actually 105 people know but if at least 5 4 3 or two of those people ever meet and want to share that amazing passion for the urge of great music.. we well do all that man.. ....Someday.
In all Honestly. they sound soo much better during there early peroid. sure julian used distortion on his voice and his voice was much younger but man did they sound good.
ize of the world was one the best songs on that album Is This It was fuckin genius Room on Fire was good and Impressions was a good one as well love the strokes forever
this entire concert needs to be remastered and put out on DVD... like, now.

I remember seeing them in November 2002 in LA. Their opening act was Regina Specktor and someone yelled "You suck" during her set. She replied with "Fuck you!"
the way he changes the melody at the "i think i'll be alright" bit gets me every time
i lose myself at that bit every time
You never know. Maybe that's the way it was originally written and the producer thought the other way would sound better.
Oh f that- Somedaay
@@kane00000 Theres a demo.
That baritone "I think I'll be alright." mmmmm
+Francis Mazzola i felt so obssessed abour that ! im glat im not the only one, lol.

Facts
I can't accept that this is live it sounds too good.
“In many ways, they’ll miss the good old days” how true, especially in regards to The Strokes
His lyrics are so fucking deep. It's really amazing how he express himself through the music
I like albert, he's my favorite strokes member. I also really dig his guitar.
"Ah fuck that. Someday."
"tables they turn sometimes" I have been singing that line alllll day in my head. this really is a catchy song. it's so surprisingly good to me. so concise. so cool. it is just exquisitely simple.
I would chop my arm off to go back in time and see this live
best live concert ever
Clara indeed
i swear this video is from the 1960's. i love it.
ALL NEED THIS:
In many ways, they'll miss the good old days
Someday, someday
Yeah, it hurts to say, but I want you to stay
Sometimes, sometimes
When we was young, oh man, did we have fun
Always, always
Promises, they break before they're made
Sometimes, sometimes
Oh, Maya says I'm lacking in depth
I will do my best
You say you wanna stay by my side
Darlin', your head's not right
See, alone we stand, together we fall apart
Yeah, I think I'll be alright
I'm working so I won't have to try so hard
Tables, they turn sometimes
Oh, someday...
No, I ain't wastin' no more time
And now my fears
They come to me in threes
So, I
Sometimes
Say, "Fate my friend,
You say the strangest things
I find, sometimes"
Oh, Maya says I'm lacking in depth
Say I will try my best
You say you wanna stay by my side
Darlin', your head's not right
See, alone we stand, together we fall apart
Yeah, I think I'll be alright
I'm working so I won't have to try so hard
Tables, they turn sometimes
Oh, someday...
I ain't wasting no more time
Elvis would have been proud to see The Strokes playing in the "same" stage as he did!
'ah fuck that, someday'
everytime they play live he always adds in the extra swear word :D
Yea...2002 looks so long now but they used vintage cam magic which back in 02 was Indie cool. Julian high as a kite tho...
Wish I could have been at that concert. Fucking love The Strokes.
How cool can a person get? Casablancas :D
This looks like a legendary Ed Sullivan performance.
This seems so 60s

Who owns the rights to the footage of this performance? MTV? They need to release a cut of the original broadcast and an extended one with all the takes and between take banter.
Nunca nunca dejará ser mi banda favorita de los años 2000
you only live once is my favorite The Strokes song and they are my favorite band

This song INSPIRES me to FEEL GOOD about the HERE and NOW! :D
Can you fucking believe this is 11 years old!
Oh it was definitely on purpose. I think it was shot on older 70s-era cameras to make the footage look more vintage but it could still be cleaned up a bit for a DVD while retaining that feel. Fingers crossed.

man this song is auckin famazing.
@XR4turbo only decade? the best album ever! :)
im so fucking agree dude
This looks like it was filmed in the early 1980s. It's probably the lighting that does that.
well there are more high quality videos out there. the whole concert was filmed for an MTV special and they used 70s-era recording techniques and film to make it look "vintage"... but you're right, it fits.
Warning: immediately after watching this video you may be tempted to take upsmoking in an attempt to look as BA as mr Valensi over here
if nyou guys havent yet you should def check out albert hammonds solo performances their good
@DeadPixel00 i was looking at my comments and i just realized we had a small convo from a while ago.
@carlosvalium The one he threw in when they were playing at SNL was the best.
Shit. I forgot to include this song in my drunken escapades last night.
i wish I was 15 again
i want that jacket that julian is wearing!!!
i've noticed fab hits his legs to keep in time
good idea really
Dont forget to like these videos!
@IndieRockOwns

well the weird lighting yes, and just that tone they provide, just like old shcool rock, they're like the beatles,.
Mtv 2002
@DeadPixel00 I've been afraid to say that because of backlash I would receive, but now I don't care. I completely agree
lol Albert's side step is tight when the music starts getting faster.
I think bands do better when they are with their friends 😊
@XR4turbo What about "Up the Bracket"!?
In all Honestly. they sound soo much better during there early peroid. sure julian used distortion on his voice and his voice was much younger but man did they sound good.
ize of the world was one the best songs on that album Is This It was fuckin genius Room on Fire was good and Impressions was a good one as well love the strokes forever
