I stayed and watched and also went and bought myself a Cinch, lol... Have wanted this for a long time, and your video pushed me over the edge! The book is adorable! TFS
That turned out awesome. You have such colorful fabric scraps. I love long videos. I just turn them on while I’m crafting and it’s like I have someone in the room with me.
I found your site when you were doing the monthly sliw stitch block with Anne Brooke, Rachel at Roxy Creations. I didn't know that you also did journals. This was a great video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talent
I watched this in 4 times that I could get back to it, but it was too intriguing not to finish! Great book! The coil book binding machines are so fun. Loved you addition of ruffles, the elastic, and back pocket.
Great to see your project from beginning to end, learning how you solved challenges and came out with a super journal... and next time, we can see the quilt ;)
Oh Melanie, what a terrific idea! I have several great book covers and love the notion of pairing them with a Cinch-bound journal. So clever and inspiring! Hmm. I may create a slip-in pocket for the Cinch journal cover itself on the back Book cover, so I can replace the journal when it is used up. Also, I have heard radio ads while driving that blare out screeching tires and honking horns. It is Very startling!
Hi Pam! The journals I made for my needlework friends were created with a place to slip in the back cover of the cinch-bound pages in and out making the cover re-usable. Yes, watch out for those fake car horns! :-)
I love love love this journal! And I think it would be a great idea to have a get together here, that would be cool. I think I have to get a cinch now lol. Happy to see another video! :)
Hi Lisa. I have an older Cinch binding tool/machine; I probably bought it in 2013 or 2014. I think there are newer models now, one, I know punches square holes rather than round. I wish I could give you more advice on them, but since I haven't shopped for a new one, my knowledge of what's currently available is limited. That said, I've had my Cinch for over five years now and it's still going strong! If you buy one, make sure you research the binding comb/wires/spirals options. I wish the wires for mine were easier to find and that there was more of a selection available (sizes, colors, etc.) Hope that helps!
This is wonderful. Question for you? Do you always move at a million miles an hour? I mean you are even out of breath! I know you enjoy it, so it is ok to slow down and relax a bit. Made me nervous to watch you! Heehee. But you are a talented crafter. Thanks for a great video to watch and you secured my decision to buy a Cinch.
It was a hard choice, Claire, but I realized her clothing already had feet and I wanted to reduce bulk. I really debated that cut, but in the end, she got a new body! ;-)
Hi Helena, I usually use a 3.5mm to 4.5mm stitch. I think anything smaller might pierce your paper too often and perforate it, making it tear more easily. I don't use a longer stitch (>5.0) because I like having more control over a slightly shorter stitch. 🧵
you are the greatest journal maker ever!
I watched the whole thing, you kept me riveted! lol Love your videos, thank you for sharing what you make and your process. Blessings
I watched the entire video. Excellent! Thank you!
This is lovely!
so, Good job Vern!
Classic
Wauw! I like this idea 😊

Awesome journal
Melanie....im so HAPPY TO SEE YOU♥️ I'M JUST settling into your video......
I use that other scotch glue and it works good. But I also use the permanent Staples and Target brands which also work well.

like the lumber jack shirt!

Are you possibly planning on selling this one? I am interested if so. :)
Hi Melanie, I love the way you did this, I have a cinch but never thought of having the coils inside the book cover.
Yes , her mother throughly enjoyed the trip to Colorado. Who wouldn’t enjoy being with this gal on a twelve hour road trip?
Can you tell more about your cinch binding machine. I am considering purchasing one. I am thinking of we are memory makers 2.0

Are you ever coming back? 😟
Would you use matte medium to protect the information on the left inside cover?
take a sharpie, write .625 over top of the 5/8" so you remember and don't have to look it up... It's your machine, so why not?
I stuck around... It's now two cups of coffee and one bagel with cream cheese later.

New to junk journaling...what setting do you use on your sewing machine to sew on the paper??

Melanie Sullivan thank you!!! 😁😁
