    Honestly the live action gets hated on so much for no reason in my opinion it’s the only the Disney live action remake that is actually enjoyable and felt like it’s own thing instead of being a cash grab and I honestly do prefer the live action over the animated one.

      Yeah it didn’t really follow the same formula of the other live actions with them being verbatim to the originals.

      @Longshanks1690 3 ปีที่แล้ว +106

      But it didn’t do it well.
      There’s a difference between a different adaptation and completely ripping out the spirit of what the original was going for, which is the live action versions problem. When the story instead of Alice In Wonderland is Grownup Alice Returns To Underland, amidst the fact that a whimsical story of childish fantasy has been replaced with a serious, gritty war movie and little of the charm of the original characters has survived - and NONE of Alice who has been replaced with a block of wood - don’t you think that represents just a _bit_ of a problem?

    The Queen of Hearts is in the first book 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' which also has the queens of Diamonds, Clubs and Spades but she's the most important Queen there. She orders everyone's heads to be off throughout the croquet game but I think in the book the king of heart secretly manages to give them a pardon, except for when the Cheshire Cat refused to pay homage to him. Same as in the animated movie they have a crazy marriage but it somehow works.
    The Red Queen and the White Queen are from the second book 'Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There', they're like chess pieces. One of them runs in the same spot for a while, the other one is always saying stuff like 'Jam yesterday and jam tomorrow but never jam today', but I can't remember which does which. There is a white king and a red king but I can't remember much about the white king, just that the red king was asleep throughout the whole story and there's a big question as to whether or not he's dreaming up Alice or Alice is dreaming up him.
    I think the original idea was that the queen of hearts was a hot temper kind of anger and fury jumping up and down and screeching 'off with their heads' like a spoiled child, the red queen was a colder kind of anger like a governess when she's caught her children misbehaving.

    • @MistySophie

    both alice in wonderlands were my favorites as a child. i had a portable dvd player and watched tim burtons version constantly. then at my mom’s job, before i went to camp i would watch the 1951 version on vhs every morning and never got past the tea party scene 😂

    The live action is supposed to be a sequel, but everything is invented and has little to nothing to do with the Lewis Carroll novels of Alice. The animated classic on the other hand is a very good adaptation of both books.

    • @connection7165
      @connection7165 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly. I think the live action is great but it's not very good adapting the Alice in Wonderland books, while the books are all about nonsense, poems, songs, riddles and games, the live action involves political issues and removes every piece of spontaneity (they even tell you the ingredients of the potion that makes you smaller), but anyway it has its charm and I really love the story line and Tim Burton's aesthetic. Both movies are masterpieces to me.

    • @Nekoopa
      @Nekoopa 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, I don't hate Tim Burton but..... I think he doesn't understand the true essence of the book: The nonsense!
      And I'm the only one who think that the actress of Alice (I don't know her name) is very inexpressive?

    For the animated Alice, I remember as a kid being so disappointed whenever the film got to the Queen part. It just got really sad and twisted, although the film is weird. For the new one, things were easier to take in, but I felt the dance at the end was overkill, but maybe that was on purpose.

    I could be wrong but the problem is that in alice in wonderland, they only use her to slay the jabberwocky and in through the looking glass it's always about the mad hatter. And sometimes the mad hatter is in the centre of the movie posters instead of Alice herself.

I feel like since I was more familiar with that one as opposed to the Disney animated version it opened me up to the concepts of the 2010 one better. Well, that & the fact that I was raised on Tim Burton movies and thus already a fan of his by then. 😆💗

    Alice in Wonderland is my favorite movie. I remember there was this Alice in Wonderland Disney book for children in National Bookstore that came along with an Alice Necklace. I immediately asked my parents for the book but mainly for the necklace. I absolutely loved it. I still remember the smell. I would watch the 2010 version so many times as a child filled with innocence to the point that I didn't even close my eyes when the door mouse stabbed and removed the Bandersnatch's eye ball nor during the part when Alice slayed the Jobberwocky. I wish I could watch it again. With the one from 1951, I didn't watch it as much as the 2010 during my childhood. And I got scared at the intro because of the dark color. In the present moment right now, I watch Alice in Wonderland 1951 more. I even memorized "In A Wod of My Own," the "Golden Afternoon, " and "the Walrus and the Carpenter (not perfecly)"
    One thing that may be a major reason of loving Alice in Wonderland is ballet class. My big sister and I took classes as children and there was this Alice in Wonderland play the ballerinas participated in including my big sister. She played one of the rabbits. Unfortunately, I was not allowed to be part of the play because I was too young. I was just part of the audience and as I watched the play knowing I'm not part, I cried so much, like the way Alice cried. The teacher said "Next Time" but I'm still waiting for "Next Time." I want to read the original "Alice Adventures in Wonderland" book along with the "Through the Looking Glass" one. This year, I got an Alice in Wonderland necklace which was a "Drink Me" bottle design. I chose it probably because I miss wearing the Alice Necklace of my childhood.

    I love the live-action Alice in wonderland because it reminds me of Alice: Madness Returns. Both have the eerie, creepy and dark aesthetics that the original book conveyed, although Madness Returns was far more chaotic.
    It’s understandable that people dislike the live-action due to plot holes and all, but compared to Disney’s current live-action catastrophes, Alice In Wonderlands live-action is true cinema next to the Cinderella live-action of Disney’s.
