This reminds me of an episode of the Twilight Zone where the department store mannequins get to live a real life for one month and then have to go back. “Marsha” doesn’t want to go back.
Hearing that designer at the end saying she was going to cry, due to the apparent success of her show, was touching. It's her art, just like any other form of art. Very nerve-wracking to anticipate that reaction. I don't envy that life of a model. Lots of pressure. Thanks, David.💟
Loved your video. I modeled for a long time in my town but a top model? No. The intention is to sell the outfit you're wearing while showing every angle of it. I was taught not to smile but to walk at a certain pace. I can understand why top models become depressed as there's always a new one who steals the attention. Modeling borders on perfection-- therein lies the depression. Thank you David for this up close and personal look at the behind the modeling scenes.
It's always the people behind the scenes that work the hardest. Photographers, caterers, makeup artists, personal assistants... etc.

Clothes always look pretty good on the hanger. I hate seeing models getting thinner and thinner. We get so caught up with what size clothes we are buying that we lose our joy wearing them.
They are now using plus size models and that's a good thing. I was thin and tall. Still am but the pressure on top models borders craziness. Did you know that most top brand women's clothes are sized smaller( but not when you put them in,) to make a woman feel good? That's called deceit.
These were the early days of TV giving attention . High wages paid to be a walking doll with the possibility someone else might be chose over you to showcase design's . as a career and a choice they made it then whine nothings changed. nowadays its just neverending
"Choose another job. But it will feel the same. It is just a better mask. You need to be empty inside to be able to work in America". That's what I would have told them, but I can't, because she is dead.
I follow designers /Cat Walks because I sew. My favorite is "40 years of Armani". It's theater. The walk is out of sync with the music and is slowed down. The details are mesmerizing. Haven't women ALWAYS been "manikins" for men to project their fantasies onto. The trouble starts when you open your mouth. Which, IMO, is why Kamala lost.
I have always been fascinated with sewing and knitting and crocheting. In my view this trade has always been the best one as anyone who works in it is serving the mankind in terms that clothes protect people against the elements. If they please the eye, they also make the world around beautiful. I enjoy the yarn and the fabrics as well. When I feel depressed I go window shopping - and it has never failed me. Unfortunately, I had to give up the idea of choosing a career in the industry when I was 15 (now I'm 49) because I'm short-sighted. I've kept my passion as a hobby and I have to pause myself. I've never thought of modeling. I cannot relate to models, only to clothes-makers
@@iunnox666 I agree. Men are put into boxes and then considered cannon fodder to who ever is in charge. They are expected to carry the world on their shoulders. However, I've worked at a domestic abuse shelter.... too often men take unfair advantage of their Strength.
Thank you very much for sharing the video. The designer is really amazing! I heard them saying about the garments that everything had been done by hand - it's such a feast for the eye to see the craftsmanship! Thank you very much
1:00 at 1min she says she’s hat she’s never been to the theatre. This is one of many important things she has said. If this could be imagined as today we are conditioned to live in the moment.
Similar to the top comment i remember an episodenof the outer limits where someone was notmal but everyone else was pig people, ahe thinks we are beneath her like most models
They wanted to be admired for their beauty didn’t they Edit This is non biological and I’m an not a feminist . Just a comment for all human This footage is amazing

Yes!! I remember that episode !! 👍🏼👍🏼
Omg one of my all time favorite episodes
Marsha always has to be difficult. 😂

@StephanieJeanne... Nicely worded Stephanie, I am sure the pressure is high on models. 😊🧡✌
@drewpall2598 Thank you. Me, too. 😊💜

That's true.
And to end up BEING the 'hanger' ... Just a Rack...oi!!

@@SherryHill-k5y sigh...
@@SherryHill-k5y I knew about, Sherry. True about the plus size models, too.
They practically glide when they walk, it’s mesmerizing!
Imagine that - you take a job where the assignment is to showcase the clothes and you feel bad because you aren’t seen. Make it make sense. 🤣🤣

The $1900 1969 is equivalent to $16,400 in 2025 currency.
I gasped when they said it
@ and followed it with “worth every penny.” 😳

Don't take responsibility for seeking attention, blame the attention giver. Talk about Gaslighting.
I agree but that can be reversed on us. Why do we? Does a cat excise before its purpose to chase mice?
There's absolutely nothing wrong with appreciating beauty.
It appears to be not for the feint of heart.
Tough biz.
Gotta give it to the ladies.
Tough gals.

No more than men have been, really.
