Thank you Susan for your helpful video. I’ve just finished my first repair & revive on a cashmere sweater I thought was ready for the trash. It’s now mended, washed, shaped & steam pressed and looks better than new!
So happy & thankful for your knowledge and get it done approach
Thank you Susan. I love watching you. Very helpful!
I can’t thank you enough for posting this! I learned to sew from my mother, but never learned to mend holes in sweaters. You just helped me save my favorite cashmere sweater!
Thank you, I managed to repair my cashmere sweater following your great tutorial, thank you 🙏
This is so helpful!! You are very clear and easy to follow - this video has helped me mend a lovely sweater. Thank you!
I've done some pretty shabby repair jobs in the past...
Thank you for breaking down the process for us! I'm hopeful for the pink cashmere sweater I picked up at the thriftstore.
* oops, I mean jumper 😉
We're glad this video was helpful! Sometimes we call them sweaters too!
Thank you for this! I had been sewing across the hole and going around is brilliant! I also need that de-bobbling machine. I still use a de-fuzzing comb.
Glad it is helpful! We sell these fabric shavers on our website and we really do think they're the best ones out there
Brilliant! I am confident I can fix the holes in a shawl now. Thank you for such a brilliant video
Thank you. I was struggling to fix my mother in law’s jumper. It’s her favourite. She has some large holes and no spare patches.❤
Does it have to be cotton thread? Thank you for the video.
It doesn’t have to be, synthetic thread will work if that’s what you have!
Thank you! Any ideas what to do to stop shedding? Not just normal that would lead to bobbling, but literal hairs after being washed wrong?
Sounds like your jumper might have shrunk? Unfortunately there isn’t much you can do once this happens😕
@@nearlynewcashmere thank you for the quick reply and taking the time to answer me.
The painfully curious cat delights in chewing and gobbling our nice wool things. She's an adorable and horrible menace damn her, Minou! Anyway, I am going to try and fix a couple of things. What could go wrong? PS Don't change, you're lovely, and keep the videos coming! xLA in NY
Where did you get the patch for this jumper and what did you stick it on with? Thank you
We make and sell patches out of cashmere jumpers! Some are backed with a knitted interface best for hand sewing but we also sell patches for machine sewing with a bondaweb backing (when this is ironed on it sticks to the jumper)
hello and thank you for your video. I’m afraid i have ruined my lovely cashmere sweater. before washing it was soft and not matted. now it’s shrunk and matted that i can no longer wear it. any help or advice would be most appreciated.
That’s such a shame! Unfortunately there isn’t much you can do to reverse shrinkage. We have heard soaking in fabric conditioner and stretching can help but we’ve never tried this ourselves
Where did you get the patch of fabric?
We sell cashmere patches on our website, made from recycled cashmere jumpers. Susan just found a bit from a jumper we were cutting up!
How do you hem cashmere pants that are two inches too long?
Thank you--I was able to repair a beloved sweater. Does anyone know if cashmere is more prone to holes, like maybe more attractive to moths than ordinary sheep's wool?
Great to hear! That’s an interesting question, we’d love to hear the answer if anyone does know. We find that cashmere with food residue is often attacked more by moths so always putting your cashmere away clean is good practice
Too long in real time
Thank you for your videos! I've been rescuing cashmere sweaters from thrift and discard (free or nearly free, in really rough shape!) and thanks to your videos they're looking fantastic, I'm learning a skill, I'm teaching my daughter to repair instead of throwing away, and keeping things out of landfill.
That’s really great to hear 😊
