You’re not only a great player and overall musician, you’re also a great teacher! I love how you use a two-finger style, which sounds awesome and old-timey, as well as being accessible to players coming from bluegrass-style playing. Your personality makes it all even more entertaining to watch. I’d love to hear more tutorials from you.

I can't play it super well yet, but I have this memorized after a couple of hours of trying and now I can pick on this whenever I'm bored! This is exactly what I have been looking for, as someone trying to learn banjo and struggling. I've never even seen a gourd banjo before, but yours sounds delightful and makes this song feel so much more mellow.

I love the tutorial the most approachable banjo song lesson I've seen.
Here's the lyrics. I don't really know how to format this well but I hope this helps someone besides myself.
One evening as the sun went down,
and the jungle fire was a burning.
down the track came a hobo hiking,
and he said boys I'm not turning.
I'm heading for a land thats far away besides the crystal fountains.
so come with me and will go and see the big rock candy mountains.
in the big rock candy mountains, theres a land thats fair and bright.
where the handouts grow on bushes, and you sleep out every night.
where the box cars are all empty, and the sun shines everyday.
all the birds and the bees and the cigarette trees,
and the lemonade springs where the blue birds sing, in the big rock candy mountain.
in the big rock candy mountains all the cops have wooden legs.
and the bulldogs all have rubber teeth, and the hens lay soft boiled eggs.
and the famer's trees are full of fruit.
and the barns are full of hay.
oh im bound to go where there aint no snow, where the rain dont fall and the wind dont blow, in the big rock candy mountain.
in the big rock candy mountain you never change your socks, and the little streams of alcohol come a trickling down the rocks.
where the brake men have to tip their hats, and the railways bulls are blind.
theres a lake of stew, and a whiskey too, you can paddle all around them in a big canoe ,in the big rock candy mountain.
in the big rock candy mountain, where the jails are made of tin, and you can walk right out again, as soon as you are in.
there aint no short handled shovels, no axes saws or picks.
im a going to stay where you sleep all day and they hung the jerk who invented work in the big rock candy mountain.
I'll see you all this coming fall in the big rock candle mountain

    • @kylewood4852
      @kylewood4852  ปีที่แล้ว +3

Ha ha thank you much Jake! So I’ve never really relied on a tuning app before I just find standard tuning and then down tune each string until I find my desired tuning. It’s basically the same tuning as standard G just down tuned a couple steps. My advice is to get a tuner that clamps to the head stock. Those fancy tuning apps are way too smart for their own good to know what down tuning is.
