I think I am having a midlife crisis. Swooning over young Ian at 50. Epitome of cool. I was a concert goer and if I could go back in time to fulfill a frivolous wish, I would love to see The Cult in concert and meet them in person.
Ian's smile is a very, very rare jewel - all these years later I'm still in a puddle on the floor whenever I see it, even when it was captured all that time ago. Looking forward to the next glorious years of The Cult... greatest band on the planet.
Ian and Billy looked both so cool in these days. What a combo, pure magical music. all time heroes. Can see this for hours. accents and body language from both. super.
Ian always speaks so softly and thoughtful but he sings like a beast. He’s mesmerizing. Beautiful man. Billy is a beautiful man as well. Totally different personalities there.
I loved the cult and Death cult before they went all Rock. There choice to go that way but personally I preferred Dreamtime and Love albums. Unique sound at the time.
It's funny, this is the only interview where Ian is so chatty and animated, later interviews have Billy as the talkative one as Ian became more morose and serious.
@@mrscientific4956 Exactly. He liked the work they did on The Love album. By the next album, it's like he was forced to do something he didn't want to do. I don't think that's the direction he wanted to go.
Lucky lady, do tell? The Holy Barbarians. And where he met his first wife, HeatherLynn Campbell. When he went blonde and had a sabbatical from The Cult. Thank god he and Billy sorted their differences. He’s with Billy and The Cult, where he naturally belongs.
0:25 - What's different? Ian got his teeth fixed. I think it improved his voice, too. Been a Cult fan since the first time I heard "Little Devil". She Sells Sanctuary still kicks my a^* to this day. A lot of people were connecting The Cult with U2 because Billy's guitar (sort of) sounded like The Edge - maybe because of the use of arpeggios? I always thought that between the riffs and songwriting and of course, Ian's unique vocals - The Cult were superior to anything else that was happening as far as ROCK music was concerned. Recently saw the House of Strombo vid - brings tears to my eyes. I miss the 80s more than I ever thought I could.....
They seem so soft and gentle compared to their full on music, which I love. 1980's music was the best era of music. Not into all of their music but love 'RAIN' and 'She sells SANCTUARY'.
sad to see billy didnt show more respect to theatre of hate, the fans of theatre certanly would never see his time with the band as so ????? negative....cheers billy!!

Did you know they have released two new singles from the new album 'Under the Midnight Sun'? Give Me Mercy and 'The Cut Inside'. Both have that kind of indie sound. I like them both and the accompanying videos are cool too 😎
I am aware of Ian's background. Your comment holds true in some cases, but not in this one. I clearly said that he puts on an Amercian accent onstage, not in this interview (or others), in which he speaks with a 100% British accent. The fact that he speaks with an American accent between songs when performing live is for my money a definite instance of "rawk 'n' rawl" posturing. There is plenty of evidence for this on TH-cam. Still a shame.
That’s just their chemistry. Billy ihas a quieter nature and sometimes just can’t be bothered with an Interviewers rather dull questions. So Ian steps in and does the talking. In other interviews it’s the other way around. Thee guys have bad days just like anyone else. It’s strange to hear their accents are much thicker and unaffected here. Ian’s smile is pure gold, Billy’s a good Manchester lad!
They're both very dominant. Steve Brown once said working with them both in the studio was like having two stallions in a field fighting for dominion (or something to that effect). And then he said that putting Jamie Stewart in there was like putting a donkey in to chill them both out. It's no wonder he left in '90. Imagine being between those two LOL

Wow. A two year "history" Ian says. Poor baby. Love the band. The innocence here😀

Kelsey Nepinak i agree!!! he has great bone structure and handsome looks..and moves with his long legs:)

To think these guys are 50 now.

Back when Billy was Orlando Bloom.

Charlie Sheen looks great with blond hair!
