    Great design. Well thought out! I will be building this for RVs. There is usually a 12v battery on the tounge. So, just clip on to the house battery and you are good to go.

    Great inspirational video. Been looking the last couple of days for ideas on a box exactly like this for my caravan. Although we have different connectors it's the same thing, so I'm now creating a list for my next wee project!! Cheers and greetings from Scotland 🙂

    I like it. Nice and simple. I believe you could put a simple 2 pin 12v blinker relay in-line with each of your right turn and left turn switches and end up with blinking lights.

    Made a similar one but for European 13 pin. Also made a vehicle plug tester from 4 compact rear light clusters (2 bulbs 2 LED, this is needed because some vehicle electronics don't play nice with led but might work going with bulb) and separate bulbs for conductors not used for lights. Long cable so I can troubleshoot from the cab - the long cable is connected to the lights with an old school pvc connector strip where I cut down the surrounds for the screws so i can clip on to them. Has a cigar lighter cable to add a known good ground. Test everything from the drivers seat

    Hi,
    I'm interested to build one and your design is simple and effective. Is there a need for a fuse in the box if there is a short circuit somewhere in the trailer?

    How does the brake test work? I would like to make this, but need to set an adjustable timer on the brake circuit so when it is on, the brakes will engage with the electromagnet every 3 to 4 seconds and then disengage. If you spin the wheel while the axle is elevated, you can test the brakes if working correctly.

    Hey Dan. Great video! Followed your instructions. Tester showed box was working, now it’s not. Any ideas on why it would work after set up and not now? I haven’t even hooked it up a trailer yet. Could I have done something ti burn out the switches?

    • @3DOutdoors
      @3DOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The first think I would do is take my tester and hold the negative side on a battery, so you know you are getting grounded and then check at each switch to see if you have power to them. I am guessing that you have either a bad connection on the positive someplace or the ground ended up coming loose in the trailer connector or on the clip you are using to hook up to your battery.

      @@3DOutdoors Hey Dan. Switched out the switches to a marine style with lights to see if there is power at the switches first. They all came on now won’t come on again. I’m definitely missing something. Is there a way to send a photo to show you how I have it hooked up. Should I have a fuse or something? Maybe I burned two sets of switches out?

    • @marshallalice6316
      @marshallalice6316 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see he didn't add fuse blocks so if you have a grounded light no fuse to save something getting burned up

    • @3DOutdoors
      @3DOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most switches have an indicator, but they are simply a devise that opens and closes a conection.

    I'd like to see a better diagram of the wiring. It would better explain how the running lights are on when the brake or turn signals operate .

    How do I get the turn signals to flash on and off? I bought a relay flasher and it doesn’t do anything.

    • @3DOutdoors
      @3DOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't know, I didn't put a flasher in mine. I just use the switch, if it comes on with the switch it will come on when I use my turn signal. I am just testing if it works.

    • @Pyro17059
      @Pyro17059 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If your lights are LED, a regular flasher will not work because the LEDs do not pull enough amperage.

  • @barntt

    Like any DC powered item this needs about a 3Amp Fuse in the POS+ wire going to the battery to prevent a fire or shorted out connection from burning something up! Come on Man! LOL

    Even if I no longer drive a passenger car or an 18-wheeler, it is actually very easy to check your lighting, which also saves you the necessary fines. And the fines you receive today are not cat piss (Dutch expression) in other words, it can cost you a fortune these days. Share your finding here and there
