He owned a magic shop in New Orleans during his final years. He was a very good guy, and I think probably one of the more influential characters for me as far as style and humour. The whole show was amazing, although it was every week night it never got old. The show afterwards was always Cheers...which wad good but more verbal than the slap stick audacity in Night Court.
Hopefully we will get more than 1 season...it's going to take some time to get the characters acting in tandem. But if they do and get the best writers...it could be a hit.

Sorry2disagree. Mellisa is playing the Judge's role SPOT ON. She's doing what Harry would have passed down to her, various comedic talents-combined with what he would have told her if he was alive and retired and she was just starting out as a judge. He would've said something like "Since this is a night court, you're liable to have some zainy situations happen in your courtroom. Just be yourself, do your own way of running this courtroom, just as long as you remember these are your citizens who need your love and respect, even when they've done some awful things and need to get their life straightened out." The only advice Mellisa Raunch really needs more than anything is she needs to make sure this role is not played out exactly like her "Big Bang Theory" role. But like it would be good to please her "Big Bang" fans, because it does feel like we got Mellisa and Jim Parsons still on television, fun to watch!!!🥰😁🤣

Reinhold Daniel Fielding Elmore is really bringing the show along. The other characters are ok but the prosecutor needs to be less stressed all the time, the bailiff seems a bit over the top. Dan is now a mentor if he wants to be or not. Abby is a fish out of water and Dan is the one pulling her back to the center at times. I think he see's a lot of Harry in his daughter and in ways is happy to see her doing what her dad did and wants to help her grow to be a better person/judge.

Remember, as the fiasco that was "Ghostbusters 2016" & the success that was "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" have shown us, direct sequels, even recast, are going to be more successful than complete recasting & redos, because you will already have a loyal fan base ready for more of the story. Now, under the same line of thinking, ignoring what has come before and recasting & redoing the original series without honoring it, will absolutely enrage the original fan base and lead to the new show failing miserably.
My one regret is that I no longer receive NBC to watch this show.

I love the original, I don’t see this show lasting. You can only go so far with nostalgia. This is the problem with trying to revisit old shows. These shows were good for their times but trying to make something from the past fit in with a different era doesn’t always work well. People will be curious at first but will loose interest due to its dependence on nostalgia. This will be the same fate for That 90’s Show. You may get a few episodes or a season out of it but not much else. Richard Moll had the right idea by staying away from this project. People love and miss the original cast and show. This is just imitation with a thin veneer of “Night Court” paint job. I just seeing neither show lasting long.

I think the first season will be rough going but I'm getting a lot of laughs from it so far. The second season will be the most telling and I hope they finesse the formula and don't throw anything obnoxious into it. Let the cast get comfortable and get a mix of old 80's lowbrow highbrow jokes. I like the slightly more serious tone, it would be tough not to with so many of the original cast gone. A somber comedy, I hope the writers are up to the challenge.

The original was one of the greatest shows I can remember. Pure entertainment, a break from the BS of real life.

I'm curious 🤔 is there such a thing as a graveyard shift night court? I never seen any courts doing graveyard shifts?

Not sure you can call this a reboot. It is more of The Next Generation like Star Trek was. Reboot would mean all the characters would be recast. Second, there is way too many commercials today than there were back then.

All that talking and in the end still didn't say how Harry's character died..... . . . . After careful consideration I've come to realize that the reboot doesn't live up to expectations.

Remakes and reboots and sequels sometimes aren’t as good as the original.
