What did you think of TYBW Episode 36, and the conclusion to Mayuri & Nemu vs Pernida? What's going on with The Bambis and the Soldat in the episode's new ending scene? Let me know your thoughts - thanks everyone!
The reason why we get a little clip of Pernida breaking out on Kyoraku bankai episode is just to make Urahara and Kyoraku's worried line about "That's Kurotsuchi" make sense. Otherwise they wouldn't put that in. Cause in the manga it happened after Mayuri won, right?
Still very bitter about the whole affair. Your own commentary is proof that this sequence of events gives too much of an impression that Mayuri cares about Nemu as a human being, which he doesn't or that he's really capable of something approaching love or compassion. He's an abusive monster who literally beat Nemu's loyalty into her, and the fact that this loyalty has been somewhat romanticized by Kubo and that Mayuri's emotions are center stage is disgusting. Mayuri never actually changed all that much, even if the nature of his abuse was somewhat softened. He was still a control freak who treated her as a human shield and his perfect doll, not a human being. The real insult here is that despite Nemu showing plenty of signs of independent thought and emotions outside what Mayuri commanded, Kubo had her die by reinforcing her loyalty to her abuser and neglected to include her thinking about others in her life she may have wanted to protect. Hopefully Hachigo can break free, and Uryuu can kill Mayuri and avenge both Sōken and Nemu.
the moment when nemu saves mayuri is greatly symbolic! -mayuri loses his left arm, signifying that he's unable to advance amid pernida fight. -nemu losing her right arm signifying that stillness has ended, and the time has finally come for her to evolve
37:58 I’m glad the anime finally clarified how Mayuri shocked Pernida with his headgear because when it comes to the manga, it wasn’t that clear. For years, the wiki actually mistook that electricity and stated that Mayuri somehow countered the Compulsory with his Spiritual Pressure which is hard for me to imagine Mayuri being able to do that to someone like Pernida. I knew it had to be device related somehow.
@@Amitlu Maybe. But I feel the tone of this scene is so ambiguous that people still get the wrong idea. That, and it's still infuriating to hear Nemu comfort Mayuri, though I suppose that's part of the tragedy. Hers is a one-sided loyalty that can never be returned. If only she sacrificed herself for those who actually cared...
the fatherly Mayuri and the abusive one are actually more believable then you would thing. Some abusive fathers can be extremely fatherly at times while also being extremely violent and abusive. Its like a pendulum and the fatherly moments come as a direct result of the extreme abuse. Its a counter they do to manipulate their children to not outright abandon them. Same thing happens with abusive relationships and "love bombs." Obviously Mayuri isnt love bombing but him being fatherly during the developmental stages (in some way), isnt that far out of left field. BUT i do think you nailed it that the TYBW version makes more sense with the flashbacks then the soul society version
I disagree, mostly because Mayuri never actually stopped being super controlling towards Nemu and dismissive of her wants and needs. That, and as you said, this was probably part of how Mayuri strung Nemu along, dosing love with the abuse.
@MrGksarathy you can be "fatherly" and still be controlling. By fatherly and love bombing im saying so within the confines of how those terms apply to Mayuri.
@@porcin3proph3t4 True. I can get behind that, even if by my own standards, Mayuri's general behavior towards adult Nemu is far from fatherly. It's why I also think he's still an abusive parent to Hachigo, despite her comparative cheer.
@@MrGksarathy oh hes still abusive throughout it by "normal" standards. But Nemu also has no experience with "normal" so hes "lesser" abuse probably still seems like "fatherly" stuff. But ya, ya got to squint and turn your head to see it cause its not normal lol
@@porcin3proph3t4 Yup. My heart honestly broke for her when she thought that Mayuri calling her Nemuri Nanago was an expression of love. It's easy to see why she thinks that, and it just makes me all the sadder she never got to experience better.
I think the tease of Pernida’s survival before Shunsui’s fight was less about the tease and more about Shunsui’s group noticing something is up with Mayuri, who they can sense is in combat Also, the scientists names are Niko Kuna and Bungaro (bandaged head guy)
the moment when nemu saves mayuri is greatly symbolic! -mayuri loses his left arm, signifying that he's unable to advance amid pernida fight -nemu losing her right arm signifying that the time has finally come for her to evolve
People have been saying this deconfirms CFYOW, but I see it as better set up for the same events. Assuming things go the way of the manga, Mayuri may be able to bring back the zombified girls after the battle. It introduces Mayuri to the pair more naturally, and also recontextualizes them working under Mayuri. It's a very smart detail.
How’s that supposed to do when they weren’t working under him?! Mayuri explained how he rebooted what was basically a corpse and put them to forced labor. But not before dissecting them, stuffing them full of devices and knitting them back together. So are Liltotto and Giselle are going to ignore that they turned them into zombies on that suicide mission?! Even back then , I didn’t understand why squad 12 was unable to pick up the bodies of Bazz-B, Haschwalth and Askin or whatever was left of Lillie . They would be far more valuable specimen for Mayuri.
@@Grayson-Winchester It's been years, but from what I remember they were working under him, but had an ego unlike the zombies. The set up was basically that they had a mission to do for Mayuri in exchange for freedom. If the set up is now that Mayuri used his knowledge of the zombies to near-completely revive them as an experiment this premise makes a lot more sense. It also explains your last question since there's a difference between a zombified corpse and a corpse. Liltotto also likely doesn't care if they were dying anyway.
@@PequenoSegundaEtapa re-read the novels. Mayuri likes his specimen to keep their ego so that he can show off his intellect and authority. The mission was a deal they made until Liltotto joined in and worked. Then it was a deal made by the head captain. He would have wasted them anyway. He just wanted his fullbringer subjects. Nothing has changed, they are zombies by a different measure and have a collar on them . Mayuri forces a resurrection on them. Liltotto doesn’t care if they are dying. In wahrwelt they were using them as a weapon against Yhwach only to be defeated.
@@NEONlights-lb8um The problem was never if 100% of CFYOW was canon because it never was. It's written by Narita. The problem is that Narita asked Kubo for setting and character information to fill in certain gaps and no one knows the full extent of what Kubo revealed to him. Previously the only way to get this information was Klub Outside, but now Kubo is sprinkling bits of CFYOW lore into TYBW as well. There will always be discrepancies, I'm just pointing out that this bit doesn't destroy that scenario as some people are saying.
The reason Pernida eats Nemu is because it learned how to do so through Mayuri's Bankai. During the fight, Pernida learned several things: how to talk because of Zaraki, gained Zaraki’s physicality, developed the skin-peeling ability due to Mayuri's Bankai, and even learned how to eat without teeth. Essentially, whatever Pernida touches, it learns and copies that behavior. Also pernida didn't randomly decide to consume Nemu even though mayuri was right there. I think it was being instinctively cautious. Keep in mind pernida has bested mayuri so far and even outwit him at times. Nemu just popped out of nowhere and obliterated it twice. She was the greater threat. Pernida likely wanted to copy the superhuman qualities of nemu and eliminate the threat of her completely similar to how Mayuri had Jizu eat it. Plus Pernida wanted to evolve further so it chose the Jizu method (which it recently learned) of eating Nemu’s scraps to reach that next evolutionary stage.
His defeat still could have been done better. A major part about the war was the quincy daten which detailed all of the shinigami previous battles and their strengths and weaknesses. This forced the shinigami to think of knew ways to defeat them. That wasnt the case with this fight tho. The daten would have mentioned how Mayuri defeated Szayelaporro which was consuming nemu the same way Pernida lost. Sure you can make the case that Pernida was in a infant like state before the war so maybe he wasn't even capable of reading it but it still could have been done better. Like Pernida recognizing he shouldnt eat Nemu and Mayuri forcing Nemu remains into him through some scientific means instead of him willingly ingesting it.
Yep! He would’ve told her that’s her punishment for rushing in Seeing Maiyuri being more fatherly and express some real emotions adds to why he’s the GOAT of TYWB Arc as far as Gotei 13 as a whole is concerned
If there's anything I love about TYBW as a whole, it's that there are actual, permanent character deaths for our heroes. It's what made the wars of previous arcs feel somewhat lacking because there weren't any lasting consequences. But by the end of TYBW, the status quo has changed significantly, with a chunk of the Gotei 13 being shifted around or replaced.
25:46- it subtly highlights a parallel between Nemu and Perinda- the latter is literally evolution incarnate yet only develops through feeding off others and only then- it’s more like a mockery as it’s gloating while remaining the same gluttonous creature deep down- much how Yhwach is a parasite. Nemu develops naturally and doesn’t bring attention to it unless others point it out. Truly coming into her own before she’s killed shortly after developing too quickly
42:47 They don’t “inexplicably appear”.. They were showed to be wheeled through the Separate Soul King Palace Warp Gate that Mayuri/Nemu/Kenpachi/Ikkaku/Yumachika/Hanataro all use
I have to say, your reviews are amazing Tommo. Have always eagerly looked forward to them, and will continue to do so. No one understands bleach like you do, and i thank you for being here for our show. Great episode, as always.
It was tragic given her origins and less than pleasant one sided relationship with Mayuri especially initially. Sadly it was also to be expected given her role both as creation and in Gotei 13's forces. Still, she's remembered especially by the fandom. Long live Nemu........
Long live Nemu. May Hachigo find herself the life that you were robbed of the opportunity for. Also, I think a large portion of the fanbase downplays the abuse she suffered way too much because of this scene and Mayuri's general insane charm. It needs to stop.
@MrGksarathy Yes. Ultimately it's safe to say that Mayuri's position allows him to simply exercise his sadistic tendencies. I mean it doesn't take a genius to figure out what injecting a zombie serum does or what scrambling someone's limbs into pulp results in. Something tells me he was only incarcerated in the past because he expiremented on the wrong person, but again given its Mayuri so it could be many things.
@@manuelacosta9463 Yeah. When I think of him, I can't help but compare him to the concentration camp scientists and their experiments, as well as Unit 731. They may have found a couple of useful conclusions, but all that was overshadowed by their sheer sadism, which made their experiments poorly designed and their conclusions not particularly useful. Mayuri isn't really a man of science by my reckoning. He's just a sadist in a lab coat. Urahara, for all his own ethical faults, is a more conscientious researcher who at least attempts to consider bioethics.
@@manuelacosta9463Yeah. I personally always think of Mayuri as akin to the scientists of Unit 731 or Auschwitz. Sure they discovered a few useful things, but often only because they put their test subjects through hell from sheer sadism. Many of their experiments were pretty poorly designed, and most of their results were useless for that reason. Mayuri feels much the same, just a sadist in a lab coat whose primary concern is determining new ways he can inflict pain. Urahara, despite his own ethical challenges, is much more of a proper scientist, and that's probably why he always outshines Mayuri. As for Mayuri's confinement, I'm betting that Mayuri was getting close to experimenting on the wrong subjects, and in a rare moment of foresight, the Central 46 decided to lock him up.
@@manuelacosta9463 Yeah. I always think Mayuri is much like the scientists in the Nazi concentration camps and those of Unit 731. Those guys discovered a few useful things, but those were only really discovered because of the hell they put subjects through, and more often then not, their sheer sadism, prejudice, and sloppy research practices led to mostly junk results. I feel Mayuri is very similar, and most of his research ultimately boils down to inventive new ways to cause as much pain to others as possible, which has yielded useful inventions. I feel this is why Urahara is ultimately the better scientist. For all his flaws, Urahara is not a sadist, does attempt to ensure the welfare of his subjects, and does have less nonsense methodology. That, and it's probably easier to try and replicate his results.
@@ErenisRanitos On top of having the greatest legs. She truly was perfection where it counted. Mayuri, of course, is no man of culture, so he cannot appreciate such perfection.
36:53- and how animalistic and even perverse it looks gives the impression for all its divine pretenses, Perinda is just a beast and a perpetual man child who relies on the experiences of others to grow without truly maturing as an individual- much like Yhwach who is more subtle about it
Good point, that makes him the perfect parallel for Yhwach. Not to mention Pernida’s dogged insistence on being labeled as a Quincy and stating his own name feels like an imitation of Yhwach claiming his name for himself against Ichibei.
I dunno, I think that's a bit harsh on Pernida. They only had minutes to grow, and they were up against an opponent who denied their very autonomy as an individual. That, and Pernida has a pretty justified level of pride in their Quincy label, since it has defined their individual existence, and Mayuri is someone who evidently is no friend to Quincy.
Wow. I just had a thought “hey, I wonder if Mr. Tommo uploaded the episode review” and I open TH-cam and BAM, it’s the very first thing in my feed. Day officially made. Haha 🔥🔥🔥
I appreciate that you can be a fan and also be real about when the writing is a lil contradictory at times. Like Mayuri was essentially soft-retconned as a character in terms of his overall personality and it’s okay. Stories can change and shift over time from what was originally intended but Soul Society Mayuri is basically a completely different character.
I'll be honest, with the Bambies I think Menines and Candice having the skulls and what not might have just been a visual indicator for us the viewers to know for a fact that they were zombified since the lighting in the room did somewhat hide that fact besides the single close up of Menines we got.
This cour might be the best of all 3. It's confirmed to have a double episode on December 28th. I just hope we will get 14 episodes this cour not a recap since Episode 27 is just an extension of Episode 26.
31:54 I believe the reason she inflates is because the Compulsory accelerated her cell division organ beyond what it was supposed to be outputting. Fitting when you consider Pernida dies in a similar fashion.
I'm pretty sure the reason Mayuri electrocuted Pernida is because he realised this is something he never used against him before, thus Pernida won't be resistant to it, at least while he's retrieving Nemu's brain.
I'm still don't understand why anime didn't give Pernida full-fledged Vollstandig in this fight considering that he already received first Vollstandig form in his fight with Zero Division but other than that pretty good episode
there's an interesting interpretation to mayuri in the soul society arc. nemuri number 7 has miraculously survived past her life expentancy. however her life is useless to him? why? to put it bluntly, she isn't learning anything of matter. and thats not really her fault, its just that life in the soul society was boring during that time. so to mayuri nemu was pretty expendable. if she dies, he can just make another one, he's learned the method. and I think its more his problem than hers. he made a soul, but cant do anything with it, he's frustrated with himself and life, not just cuz life is boring but his greatest creation is being put to waste and he's kinda taking it out on her. but then ichigo and his friends popped up. and aizen had his plans go into full effect. and life is suddenly a lot more interesting, he's gathering a lot of new fun data that he can feed nemu. data he can't get again anyother time and will be lost if she dies. so suddenly his greatest creation regained all of her value back and became much more unique. she's no longer replacable to him and u can interpret it as him gaining back his passion for science as he escapes the rut onto actual interesting things
@@ricardomonteiro870 That's a really good take that I hadn't thought of. It does add another layer to his frustrations, and also another dimension of how he does not view Nemu as an independent sapient being, but rather an extension of his genius. Yet more reason to hate him and more reason to be bitter about Nemu's death here. Her death was played in service of Mayuri regaining his spark to iterate and evolve his work.
On How Pernida rips of his own Finger, Normal Humans are just using about 30% of what our Muscles can, bodybuilder and such can use about 60% and the reason for this is that when we would use 100% of ours muscles power we would easly break our own bones and muscles each time we use the 100%. Theres a confirmed story of someone who got a boulder dropped on him slowly squeezing him to death, he was able to lift the boulder of while litterly ripping of his chest muscles from the bone thus surviing that.
16:10 Has anyone ever explained why Yamamoto didn't just have Kurotsuchi grow him a new arm? I get that he didn't want to exploit Orihime but Mayuri is a subordinate. Order him to inject you with some of that good good limb juice.
Does it work for people other than Mayuri and Nemu who's bodies are plumped with all kinds of chemicals? Also Yamamoto kept all of his battle scars. I always viewed it because that he kept them as a reminder of his battles.
@@NeonForceGetsugaActually, I could see them make one specifically designed for Yamamoto, or at least for his arm, if he asked them to, but yeah I agree with the fact that Yama would probably not ask anyways to keep his missing arm as one of his battle scars due to being a proud warrior.
@@Dylan-t5j5e Yeah, I still remembered in SS arc, his scars were glowing haha. The man doesn't heal. I wonder if the people had to tell him that he won't look good with burns on his face to why his face looks "normal". Haha.
Probably for the same reason, his pride Soifon got her arm back and it was stated to be from SS technology not Orihime so it probably does work for everyone Yamamoto just didn't want it
I still think Giselle personally killed Meninas and Candice, it what she personally wants to do. Once again I will only believe Robert is death if we see a body. Still we haven't he still alive to me. I feel the friends two parter going to be crazy and have hopefully new things added it.
49:17 Maybe Giselle just hides them because they didn't really want to fight and he is cautious of Mayuri because he knows what happened to his zombies when he fought him. The army of zombie shinigami is just their way of showing that they have numbers so they can negotiate and they are not really important to Giselle and if things go south that's when Giselle will show his trump card. That's my take on it.
Nemu has been one of my favorite lieutenants since her introduction, regardless of her "conception." The fact that she demonstrates compassion for her captain, despite Mayuri's twisted perceptions of life.
Another close up shots. The return of Candice and Meninas unexpected considering they are defeated at that point and never make appearance until CFYOW. Now liltotto believing taking at Yhwach make her think she can go against him makes sense with all bambies before it didn't. 4:30 Friend saga might be split. 5:45 works 7:30 9:58 11:00 it happens 12:21 - 40 13:50 - 14:00 - 30 - 40 15:15 16:18 arm 17:10 fast [Flashy flash] 18:00 - 16 shots Sinister step above - 50

I'm more for the they were hit my auswählen and knocked out near death and Giselle took the advantage at the time. 50:50 😂 51:40 does make more sense 53:50 ohhh 55:00 dude is living in his own utopia 56:20 yeah me neither just will wait
Yhwach is clearly playing with them. He likes to give his opponents a fleeting chance only to deliver true despair. Liltotto is just thinking to throw themselves at a sword. Because regardless if they are killed or hit by another Auswahlen, they will return to Yhwach again
As much as I like the anime. Imo the manga was better from kubo amazing panels especially that one were mayuri walks away as pieces of pernida explosion around him. I also think the black or red nerves in the manga look a lot more Intimidating. The animators still did amazing especially mayuri surfing scene
I love the fact that Pernida is evolving based on who he has faced in battle...like shedding his skin based on Mayuri's bankai and cutting off his own thumb like Kenpaichi, Mayuri and Nemu when they removed their own arms...even talking like Kenpaichi
49:45 We actually saw Bambietta in episode 2 of this arc, at around the 2 minute mark! Giselle was holding up her lifeless body, so I assume that's right before she gave her some blood again.
@MrGksarathy That anime went out of it way to show yes, there was a part of him that absolutely cared. Is he still a scientist at the end of the day? Yes, but he absolutely felt it. You're delusional.
@@aarons6935 Again, that twisted part of him that cared cared about her being his dream come true. Never once did he even say anything about her as a person.
@@MrGksarathy nah, its not. I wouldn't go so far to say he "loves her" like a father/daughter type thing, but certainly not careless. Mayuri NEVER shares credit and he NEVER would refer to "we" in any of his endeavors. Especially in regards to a creation of his. Which is always subordinate and always lesser. And most definitely not in regards to his obsession in one-upping Urahara...thats his Roman Empire right there. CFYW novels and the subsequent novels after that imply as much the Mayuri did grieve Nemu on more than a "failed experiement" level. And his attitude towards Nemuri Hachigo later is drastically different. Enough for other characters to notice and piss him off by pointing it out to him. But I think "affection" is in "his own way" as stated by Akon in the later novel. Everything is in Mayuri's "own way". Mayuri's character growth is subtle, and unless one looks into all the content that features Mayuri that would imply as much; it could be overlooked.
@@ZPerpetua I personally disagree because he only gave credit to Nemu as an extension of his own genius and how she proved his dream. Even if he does to a very small extent care about her beyond her death, it's probably still related to her being his previous greatest achievement and the sentimental value one attaches to such a thing. In any case, none of it justifies or makes better the monstrous abuse he put her through. He's doubtless a better parent to Hachigo, but she still acts pretty obedient, so I think he's still somewhat abusive, and if she stepped out of line, the monster would come roaring back. The whole idea of "in his own way" highlights that he's still a psychotic madman whose ideas of care and affection are still twisted and abusive. If he's developed, it's to a microscopic degree.
The philosophy behind perfection betraying Mayuri and Syzael being the one to deliver was such poetic justice in the manga glad it hit here too I loved it
I think the end of the flashback is meant to create the context for the 2 different versions of Mayuri, effectively Nemu doesn't listen to Akon and starts to effectively "regress" to get Mayuri to say her name again only for him to view it as her being another failure and aggravating him but he still in the depths of his soul still has hope for her so he doesn't just scrap her to start again
15:23 Mayuri isn't portrayed as "fatherly" in that flashback. He simply says "good morning No.7". And wears a creepy smile saying that. People till this day still don't understand why Mayuri treats Nemu the way he does back in soul society arc. Even before TYBW, it was pretty obvious why he did that. He pushes Nemu to the limit on multiple occasions because he's testing those limits and he gets annoyed at Nemu when Nemu asks for the Hojikuzai because he knows Nemu is much more capable and durable than what she was displaying. He hits her because by asking for the regeneration serum, she's falling short of his expectations. That's literally why he screams, saying, " How dare she assume that she's going to die from that level of injury? He being her creator knows she's far more durable than that. " He's annoyed that his creation would doubt his capabilities as a scientist. There's no difference between the two Mayuri's from soul society arc and TYBW arc in regards to his personality and treatment of Nemu. The reason he cares for Nemu in the TYBW is that she's grown and gained a lot more experience since the soul society arc after encountering ichigo's group. Such experiences are invaluable and can't be replicated if she lost her life at this stage. And then she exceeds his expectations by acting of her own free will in his presence, and that makes him happy. That's literally what's going on here.
@@NEONlights-lb8um Exactly. He never once considers her thoughts and feelings as a person, merely as his perfect creation. Despite his espoused goals, he cannot stand the idea of Nemu going beyond the bounds he set for her until the very end. Yeah, their relationship is fucked up, Nemu deserved better, and people need to realize just how badly and consistently she was abused.
I have always assumed that Nemu exploding was due to Pernida hijacking control of her and stopping her brain from controlling her rapid cell division and not his nerves tearing her apart.
Some ppl say the arm was “weak” but… man, even the soul king was a shinigami once. He was sealed and weakened. He was dismembered and only one arm can already evolve and adapt in such an unstoppable way… Mayuri was never close of winning with his power. It was his brain. Making the arm absorb something that basically makes it’s own body a complete tumor. And he only lost because he’s thirsty for growing more power and evolving. His unlimited “progression” was his own downfall since he didn’t achieve enough intellectual development at the moment. Amazing battle. Just amazing. ALSO: Finally they made Mayuri something to be praised as an intelligence division’s commander. They made it all look like he always has a plan… not only for him or his fights, but for the whole Soul Society, and to improve just in time everything the shinigami might need, even without ever wondering they could need that.
The part about Yhwach using soldat shades as substitute for his great quincy nation really makes him appear more villainous. Despite him talking how his people were oppressed and how this "noble" war is for the betterment of the quincies, at the end of a day his goals and execution are completely twisted and corrupt.
hanataro getting cut from the scenes is probably so they can retain a level of seriousness throughout with minimal comedy which would happen to some extent whenever he's around just from how he talks and reacts.
Kubo can make the fact that Candace and Meninas turn into a zombie work, without retconning CFYOW: Mayuri's restoring pods. Maybe after the battle against Ywach was won, Mayuri went and collected the bambis, just like how Mayuri collected those arrancars
36:12 I think the conversation between Mayuri and Szayelapporo is supposed to be Mayuri convincing *himself* that he doesn't care about Nemu, pushing down any feelings he does have because being a scientist is more important to him
My headcanon is the soul society Mayuri was so damn abusive was because Nemu had reached his calculated final growth point at the time and he was carrying on experiments to see how much her body can handle since she was already passing his expectations. And I think seeing other mad scientists over the course of the series and how valuable as a vice captain she low key was softened his mentality towards her by this point of the story
I got that the two fights were concurrent, with the bit of Mayuri' in last week. We didn't need to 'also' see that Lillie was still alive to push that impression My guess for why Mayuri didn't use the electric shock earlier, it looks like it needed to be close, and the two never got that close before, Mayuri always running around from the nerves, which are inactive now
@MrTommo2304 I had a theory on what the skulls on the Zombie Bambies might be. I was thinking it was Munchie Munchie Babies. Those skulls that tried to bite Ichigo. I was thinking if the skulls bite you it drains power and enemies but if she lets the skulls bite on quinces it gives them a boost to their powers or something like that.
What happened to Pernida's third arm? One of them died by having it's nerves frozen, the other one died by over regenerarating but the other one was smashed through by Nemu but we know that such attacks can't kill Pernida. We literally saw the one who died to Nemu cancer regenerate from being blown up. Unless I'm missing something please can someone tell me I've made this comment on multiple videos on TH-cam and even Reddit I've received no answers. Am I missing something? 37:50 i guess the anime removed this scene.
I always assume he saved the electrocution thing because he only has so much energy/power for it, so it was better saved when he gets a moment to set it up since it doesn't seem like he keeps it constantly available
I think we need to have lille flamingos because it works for his whole characters symbolism, him loosing his halo and then basically becoming a fallen angel. Also hope to see kira as well as any other characters that are still down in the seireitei possibly do something extra.
This is a random idea(which others may have mentioned) but what If the reason for Hanataro’s disappearance is that he’s gone too help Renji, I mean he is a member of squad 4
My thought on Rose and Kensie is this; Both of them were killed before becoming zombies by Sternritter V so maybe Mayuri couldn’t bring them back to life. Matsumoto and Toshiro I believe were zombified before dying, so perhaps their souls were still in their bodies
Isn't the Arena the spot where we see the sterns in cour 1 where ywh announced Uryu as his successor, or it could be where the sterns gathered when they were shocked after and arguing about uryu.
I have a question so we know from cfyow lili gets the power of the people she eats like loly and pepe if she eats the soldat could she maybe get a power up or somethig from yhwach??? Im so cofused i dont think so but maybe tbh idk!?
I read that Lille gets a voice similar to pica from one piece in this bird form. And the episode might end when he colaps. And the next poem is from Bazz B.
Random thought just occurred to me. Isn’t Nemu no8 more happy go lucky like yachiru? Maybe it’s more to signify mayuris journey on humanity is starting.
@@ninjaman0003 It's possible Mayuri let up on the abuse for Hachigo for whatever reason, but I doubt he's actually become all that more human, especially since Hachigo seems very obedient still. If she were to try and break away, I imagine the monster would come right back.
@@MrGksarathy hard to say. just seems very coincidental that kenpachi loses his partner and starts showing respect and guiding other people, then mayuri gets his version of yachiru.
@@ninjaman0003 That is kinda true. I hope Nemuri Nanago befriends Ichika and Kazui anyway, tries to break free from Mayuri, and Uryuu swoops in to help her.
I thought the thing he clipped into his head was some sort of reishi-concentrating device like a personal version of the big one he made. I thought maybe its draining for him to use it, so its like a last resort defensive thing or something? That was my theory when I read the manga.
Kubo was probably trying to portray Mayuri as cognitively trying to identify himself as a scientist who wants progress, yet in his subconscious it is his feelings for Nemu that dominates.
@@juvetb1 That's a generous interpretation of his inner struggle because even there, the struggle is between his stated ideals of perfection being the enemy of good science and his attachment to Nemu as his seemingly perfect creation who could evolve endlessly. Whatever care he had, it probably wasn't for Nemu as a person.
I think with this episode it really highlighted why it was a mistake to split the fights. The second episode felt rushed to me. Still a great episode, but if you did the two back to back, i think it would have helped to let us marinate in the fight a bit more.
@ it’s all speculative until Kubo says different. He seemed sad to me about the loss of a friend. He even shows emotion when the vice captains thank him for helping Kenpachi.
@@charlessands7649 As Tommo himself said, the whole Szayellaporo scene and the "you and I" speech make it fairly clear that he wasn't super cut up about Nemu's death per say. He was upset he had ever considered her perfect and cherished her as such, and he was excited at the chance of a do-over. Maybe he cares a little in his own twisted way, but that hardly makes up for the insane abuse he put her through.
What did you think of TYBW Episode 36, and the conclusion to Mayuri & Nemu vs Pernida? What's going on with The Bambis and the Soldat in the episode's new ending scene? Let me know your thoughts - thanks everyone!
Start saying Yhwach’s name properly bro
Can you do a breakdown of a JJK’s character’s power? Especially Gojo and Mahito. Theirs are the most confusing.
That’s funny that even the wiki mods were like “uhhh…..I have no idea what that just was”
The song they chose for Nemu's death was wonderful. Really gave me the chills.
I think it was distasteful, since the lyrics imply that Nemu was comforting Mayuri, which is just infuriating to think about.
@@MrGksarathy I think the music was deliberately sentimental to mislead the audience since Mayuri himself shuts it off anyway.
It brought tears to my eyes... This poor girl did not deserve to end up like this... Justice for Nemu! ❤❤😢😭
@@isabeligbar Justice for Nemu indeed, and really for all of Mayuri's victims. One day...
the fatherly Mayuri and the abusive one are actually more believable then you would thing.
I think the tease of Pernida’s survival before Shunsui’s fight was less about the tease and more about Shunsui’s group noticing something is up with Mayuri, who they can sense is in combat
Also, the scientists names are Niko Kuna and Bungaro (bandaged head guy)
the moment when nemu saves mayuri is greatly symbolic!
-mayuri loses his left arm, signifying that he's unable to advance amid pernida fight

No, it does in fact decanonize CFYOW.
Heck even shinji using his bankai in the anime already did that a year ago
Wow. Its almost as if the anime literally explained and showed all of this
His defeat still could have been done better.
Its very telling that Maiyuri actually lets Nemu regrow her own arm with that medicine. He would never have done that before.
Yep! He would’ve told her that’s her punishment for rushing in
Seeing Maiyuri being more fatherly and express some real emotions adds to why he’s the GOAT of TYWB Arc as far as Gotei 13 as a whole is concerned
@ and in past arcs, she even asked for help and medicine and he scoffed at her, barely relenting and giving her some just so she didn’t die.
@@MizikameThis is the smallest of concessions, and people are acting as if he's changed in any meaningful way.
That is until the HELL arc at least lol
Dude, Nemu was all over the place in that fight.
This might be one of the greatest comments you’ve ever left
I like dark humor but WOW!
LMFAO!
I mean with that kind of spread, she surely is covering all the battlefields.
I GET IT!
Maybe those soldiers at the end weren't flesh and blood quincy. But that black eyeball goop poured into quincy clothing
Or maybe the soldat themselves got upgraded 🤔
I have to say, your reviews are amazing Tommo. Have always eagerly looked forward to them, and will continue to do so. No one understands bleach like you do, and i thank you for being here for our show. Great episode, as always.
Imagine that we DO get more of Robert and BG9 but they're just these weird husks like the soldat
That, and it's probably easier to try and replicate his results.
god damn Mayuri you just had to give Nemu a full bakery

Haha 🔥🔥🔥
20:02 This is how Pernida reproduces the action Kenpachi did when he tore of his arm in the first part of the fight. He evolved in kenpachi's strength
This man's oratory skills are second to none 🙏🏾👏🏾
I appreciate that you can be a fan and also be real about when the writing is a lil contradictory at times. Like Mayuri was essentially soft-retconned as a character in terms of his overall personality and it’s okay. Stories can change and shift over time from what was originally intended but Soul Society Mayuri is basically a completely different character.
I'll be honest, with the Bambies I think Menines and Candice having the skulls and what not might have just been a visual indicator for us the viewers to know for a fact that they were zombified since the lighting in the room did somewhat hide that fact besides the single close up of Menines we got.
Same, I think Giselle was just adding accessories to her new „toys“. A attempt to replicate their dashing vollständig but what’s gone is gone🤷.
This cour might be the best of all 3. It's confirmed to have a double episode on December 28th. I just hope we will get 14 episodes this cour not a recap since Episode 27 is just an extension of Episode 26.
Where you read that it's confirmed
42:14- and it’s subtle karma for using Zaraki earlier as a test rat for the nerves

31:54 I believe the reason she inflates is because the Compulsory accelerated her cell division organ beyond what it was supposed to be outputting.
Fitting when you consider Pernida dies in a similar fashion.
Nothing beats having spoilers in your youtube feed.
Amazing episode, amazing coverage as usual!
I'm pretty sure the reason Mayuri electrocuted Pernida is because he realised this is something he never used against him before, thus Pernida won't be resistant to it, at least while he's retrieving Nemu's brain.
Our Friday just became alot better :)
34:15 having mayuri disperse both szyel and the sentimental music was a great way to emphasize the latter.
I'm still don't understand why anime didn't give Pernida full-fledged Vollstandig in this fight considering that he already received first Vollstandig form in his fight with Zero Division but other than that pretty good episode
A volstandig Perninda would probably be too powerful for Mayuri and nemu.
He didn't need to use Vollstandig, he was already winning the fight just spamming his arrows.
WHY DIDN’T GISELLE TURN NANANA INTO A ZOMBIE WHEN BAZZ-b KILLED HIM????
😢
there's an interesting interpretation to mayuri in the soul society arc. nemuri number 7 has miraculously survived past her life expentancy. however her life is useless to him? why? to put it bluntly, she isn't learning anything of matter. and thats not really her fault, its just that life in the soul society was boring during that time. so to mayuri nemu was pretty expendable. if she dies, he can just make another one, he's learned the method. and I think its more his problem than hers. he made a soul, but cant do anything with it, he's frustrated with himself and life, not just cuz life is boring but his greatest creation is being put to waste and he's kinda taking it out on her. but then ichigo and his friends popped up. and aizen had his plans go into full effect. and life is suddenly a lot more interesting, he's gathering a lot of new fun data that he can feed nemu. data he can't get again anyother time and will be lost if she dies. so suddenly his greatest creation regained all of her value back and became much more unique. she's no longer replacable to him and u can interpret it as him gaining back his passion for science as he escapes the rut onto actual interesting things
This cour has had fantastic animation and pacing and the best part is each episode keeps getting and better🔥
Fight was truly amazing, i loved the more conclusive ending to Pernida, as well as Mayuri's dream in the pod

"We'll show him together, you and i" while they're reaching out for one another, safe to say a part of Mayuri DEFINITELY cared
@@aarons6935 That's just a very stupid perspective. He only cares about her as a vessel for his dream and experimental object, not as her own person.
Beautiful, loved it, tear came down my face, lovely ending
Tomo has been missing hella shit this cor. He has a very narrow perspective, so things just go over his head.

The OST was amazing in this episode. Really happy that this fight was adapted so well.
Absolute favorite fight in the tybw and I think they did it justice!
@@MrGksarathy facts
I have always assumed that Nemu exploding was due to Pernida hijacking control of her and stopping her brain from controlling her rapid cell division and not his nerves tearing her apart.
20:50 I don't know if I'm the only one who noticed, but Pernida's eye looked like Kempachi's when it started talking like him.
I always thought this is a contender for the best fight in Bleach, unexpected good shit.
Probably my favourite in tybw arc (at least in the manga).
not complaining but episode 37 spoilers should be announced some of us avoid them purposely to better enjoy the episode
Both Nemu and Pernida evolve overtime. Parallels~
The thing Nemu is sleeping with in the flashback reminds me greatly of Masu from Deadman Wonderland
I will always enjoy the fact that Mayuri is unaware of the fact that Kisuke Urahara is once again multiple Sterps ahead of him xD
hanataro getting cut from the scenes is probably so they can retain a level of seriousness throughout with minimal comedy which would happen to some extent whenever he's around just from how he talks and reacts.
We didn't need to 'also' see that Lillie was still alive to push that impression
My guess for why Mayuri didn't use the electric shock earlier, it looks like it needed to be close, and the two never got that close before, Mayuri always running around from the nerves, which are inactive now
@MrTommo2304 I had a theory on what the skulls on the Zombie Bambies might be.
The reason for the dissonance between Soul Society Mayuri and TYBW is obvious. Mayuri just had a couple drinks that day.
Lol I feel like you're the only person who still gets surprised how winsome and perfect the anime adaptation is each week.
It was a nice Dragonball Z reference in relation to Nemuri Nanago (Masen-ko from Piccolo and Gohan) at @30:04
My thought on Rose and Kensie is this;
Both of them were killed before becoming zombies by Sternritter V so maybe Mayuri couldn’t bring them back to life. Matsumoto and Toshiro I believe were zombified before dying, so perhaps their souls were still in their bodies
Matsumoto was killed by Cang Du before being found by Giselle. Hitsugaya was the only one alive when zombified
I personally would have loved to see Pernida's Vollständig considering its appearance in Episode 26.
7:01 far too descriptive and grotesque
Nemu was definitely waifu material
Knowing what we now know about the glutton, i wonder if eating the “soldats” will do anything to lilltoto
I get not picking "Theatre Suicide," but "Twov Hairpins, One Shadow" still felt like a viable option.
Both things can be true at the same time. He’s both saddened by Nemu’s death and celebrates his opportunity to perfect his creations.
But he isn't saddened by Nemu's death as a person, but by her as a tool breaking.
