    Waffenfabrik Bern is in Bern Switzerland, not Germany. And the straw colored controls are not "gold" trim, it is colored that way by heating the steel to a certain temperature for a certain time

    I'd love to have a Swiss model. I currently own a German 1916 DWM model. Deutsche Waffen und Munitionfabriken. Manufactured smack dab right in the middle of WW1. Paid $1250. All matching (except mag), and in very good condition

    The purple tint is from the bluing solution being at the wrong temperature, I have been told.

    What makes “P” marked so special? Is this indication of a Police issued sidearm? Thanks.

    • @CHmale81
      @CHmale81 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In Swiss army when you are relived of service you can take over your service wapon either rifle or handgung. So the P stands for privatised, the weapon is no longer in the Army inventory.
      (In case of the Assaultrifels they get also locked to semi auto fire only)
      Just checked granpas K31 for some reason it has no P mark, strange.
      The nice one shown was never issued to a officer and only kept in the arsenal, I guess it didn's see a lot of shots

    What does the "P" indicate and how does it effect value relative to "non-P-marked"??? Anybody???

      I believe that means that the soldier purchased the gun after service for private ownership.

      The non P marked was if ever issued to a soldier only for a brief period so it is probabely in a near mint condition, therfore higher vlaue

      OutdoorEnthusiast88 Just bear in mind almost all german small arms fell into allied hands at the end of ww2 and were either broken down for scraps or sold off to countries that shared "western sentiments". A lot of the war time ones in circulations currently were more than likely brought back by veterens.

      Yeah, that's how I felt as an 8 year old back in the 60s looking at them as mail order $15 buys in the back of gun magazines. They had dewat Tommy guns too for only $25. Sigh.

    i think im gonna be a dick and come out with new production lugers. I know it can be done. lol

    • @natsyrte
      @natsyrte 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      fireball676 You may try. Mauser did this in 1970. It was a nightmare to refit machines for the production of such an old gun.

      you can always cnc produce anything. Undercut the value of the originals and when you gain enough capital, make forged versions and charge somewhere between CNC and original prices. Id say most of it comes down to smart marketing. CNC has revolutionized the production market.
