Oh my gosh! My dogs started barking right toward the end of this video so I couldn't hear what was being said. Then they stopped just as he was getting up to say that he was going to take care of the dog. Good video. Good timing.
Thanks for the vid. My fabric failed so it wasn't the exact same issue. I should have used bulk cord like you did but I ordered replacement fabric and pre-cut cords from Amazon. Your instruction re the zap straps was a life saver as the cords were ~1-2 inches different so I couldn't simply mimic each side. Pretensioning really cut some time.
Thank you for posting. Very helpful. I never thought of using washers. I've been hunting all over for the crimping sleeves that came with mine, but no one carries them.
thanks for posting this vid good thinking with the washer these chairs are well made but my elastic just broke after 5 years so this is just what I need
Very complete video....thanks for posting...I was able to find a new fabric on amazon. I just don't see how to get the top of the chair pipe piece through the fabric (it was sewn together when it arrived) as if the pipe will slide through it....?
+Zooey Mcphee Thank you. I do not believe there is a way to modify the mechanism. But I have put a 2X4 underneath the front which helps make you more horizontal.
Thank you for the video, very helpful. My problem is that I opened the chair to use it and for some reason I couldn't close it completely anymore. Do you have a video where shows how to close it? Thank you.

I had one 5 yrs ago and never had a problem with it but I moved out of state and gave it to a friend....I should have paid for the shipping and kept it....
+azdesertdog thanks, that helps. Just wanted to verify the size. I assume you bought a 50 or 100 foot roll. Looks like it takes about 18 feet per chair, (2) 35" sections and (2) 74" sections.
+azdesertdog I understand. I got those measurements from the "restring" kits that can be bought on Amazon, Cabela's, etc. They seem to be standard for most of these chairs.
He said, "$49 on sale" then said, "I'm cheap" 😄 i got 2 for $5 each at goodwill and i was still worried about the price lmao but this video helps. Gracias lol
Thanks for the heads up on the riveted chair. I found one for about $100 from frongate in AZ. What brand or where did you purchase yours? And thanks for the video!
Edit: A few days ago i'd posted photos of how i did my zero gravity chair with 1/4" bungee, but they seem to have been auto-deleted. I'd thought you'd be interested to see the way i did it, but they disabled it. Basically, i finished it off with a knot, which i knotted to an "anchor-bungee" that i had fastened near the hinge at base of back-rest. For the time being, i left the backrest the way the manufacturers threaded it. I only repaired the leg-rest and seat-rest with 1/4" bungee.
@@azdesertdog Thanks. I tried again posting just one pic, but even that was auto-removed. Note I did get 4 washers from my b.i.l. with 5/16" diameter holes, but not sure i could "pull" it off. Forgive the pun - but i never quite figure out how tautly to "pull" the bungee thru grommets, and the same would apply to washers. I mean, i'm relaxing on my newly-threaded chair, but can't be sure if i "pulled" the bungee too much thru the grommets. Maybe they should have been pulled less taut, so as to take longer to fray.
Hi, sir, do you know if all bungee's are safe with lighters? Secondly, if the inner diameter of my grommets is 5/16" can I Double-up 3/16" bungee throughout the entire length, and then, when it reaches the last grommet, perhaps use an oval-ring cut from a plastic-chain as an anchor (behind the last grommet) to knot the double-thread around? And would 1/8" Doubled-bungee fit better than 3/16"?
I have never had an issue with sealing the ends of bungees with a lighter, however, you should always use caution. I have not tried the doubled up smaller bungees but it does seem plausible. Good luck.
@@azdesertdog Many thanks for your feedback. But I still have the crucial 1/8" versus 3/16" question. Which of those sizes is the thickest i can get away with Doubled within 5/16" hole?? See - i'd actually go with Non-doubled 1/4" bungee, but the problem is, my fingers are too weak to work knots the way you do. Which is why I think it would be easier - in my case - to Double a bungee instead, so that way, i can more easily knot the two-ends around each other behind last grommet (with help of aforesaid anchor). That's why i ask - 1/8? 3/16?
And most of them have the one bolt near the seat on the frame...so the chairs are riveted except for that one shit bolt that always comes apart. but like I said in a few previous posts...I did find the ONE at Walmart of all places for $35
Just made a pass through Amazon, and pre-cut cord kits for these can be had cheaper than rolls of cord, w/ the end clips included. If you want replacement fabric w/out going DIY on a tarp, it's cheap, but ships in 3-6 weeks.
Thanks for the demo. CABeLAS has a repair kit for $ 9.99, my chair is extra wide and has 2 cords threaded. It looks like getting the kind you have a better idea. Was your chair double threaded?
Then you'll be using alot less cord. So why did you cut it a foot longer? And the original was not 3/8" because that would be thicker than your 5/16" replacement.
Mai Thow I have 4 of these chairs they are great. I live in Arizona so the sun destroys the elastic. Once I fix a chair it is good for many years. They original elastic lasts 2-3 years in the Arizona sun.
I have had 2 of these chairs and I find that the bolts come loose and at times they break off where the most movement exist on the chair. I have replaced the bolts on one chair and the bolts still broke. Great chair but lousy hardware on them
There are a bunch of different makers. The chairs I have have all rivets no bolts. I can't find the ones in this video any more.. They all seem to have plastic arms now.
I finally found one at Walmart of all places with all rivets,no bolts for $35.00 and it's fine. Better than the $65 one I bought at Hayneedle and that one wore out in 4 months. Glad to get rid of it and find the right one. I bought one for $100 from Frontgate and that came apart in 2 months. Sent it back. Yesterday I found the ONE at walmart so they have them now.
