    Crewing a mission to Pluto would take hundreds to thousands of years to make possible, not to mention the voyage would take about a decade to get there and a decade to get back. You would be an elderly person by the time you come back home. You also need a duo decade's supply of food, water, and air in order to survive for a duo decade to make this mission possible. Also in order to avoid all that you need an engine with the power that can match up to at least a quarter of that of the speed of light. A round trip to the moon and back takes about a week on normal rocket power. Mars takes about a year and a half.

      Separation motors often serve a useful purpose in RO - ullage. In order to keep the propellant stable and safely near the engine instead of floating around, the motors keep the vehicle accelerating during engine ignition.
      (alternatively, the engines can be hotstaged - igniting the upper stage engines before the first stage has burnt out)

    What impress me is the most that you are probably using a lot of mods and these ships are well over 200+ parts and yet you have no lag which is the main problem I have with modded Ksp even with a good pc do you have any suggestions?

    • @TDChannelKSP
      @TDChannelKSP 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've mentioned it to others - I have a nice rig - i5-11400, 32GB DDR4, and RTX 3060ti. However, especially on the more complex scenes (namely late LEO assembly), framrate gets low.
      The footage is sped up 150-1000% depending on the shot. I film with physics delta time .01, so the game is as slow as possible with as many frames as possible. Then, I manually trim out lag spikes and stutters in the edit.
      It's the case for most massive modded projects - no super-pc, just editing.

    • @BugraBasgan
      @BugraBasgan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very cool, but think about how much easier all this would be if we worked together, & made orbital rings a reality FIRST! No messy, multiple launches, where a ton of things have to go right, plus all the resources you could save on, to make bigger/better vehicles that have improved safety.

    No rockets are needed! Just ask the good folks at Area 51 to give you a lift to Pluto on their TR-3B or one of their alien reproduction vehicles. You could probably arrive at Pluto in a few weeks.

  • @patrikcath1025

    I feel like you could have saved fuel by assumbling the ship very very far away from Earth, somewhere at the edge of its SoI so it would take much less fuel to actually get away from Earth in the first place.

    • @TDChannelKSP
      @TDChannelKSP 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually, not really. You still have to ship all the parts up there in the first place, but it's actually much less fuel efficient to leave this way!
      Because of the Oberth effect, it's more efficient to gain speed at higher velocities (like near a gravity well) than it is at lower speeds (near the edge of the SOI), so the total delta-v to depart Earth from low orbit to Jupiter is actually considerably lower than getting into a high circular orbit, and departing from there.
      This is also why the burn is done in two parts - that way, the burn is done while the vehicle is travelling the fastest speed, maximizing efficiency.

    • @patrikcath1025
      @patrikcath1025 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TDChannelKSP Actually yeah I didn't take Oberth Effect into account.
      My thinking was that you would need much less fuel to actually get from Earth orbit to Pluto, even though it would take more fuel to get things to said Earth orbit in the first place. You would need (probably) need less dV to leave Earth's sphere of influence when you're already very far away from it, meaning smaller fuel tanks and fewer engines.
      Actually thinking about it, I wonder if it would have been possible to send the ship sections to high earth orbit unfueled, and then shuttle in fuel mined and refined on the Moon while waiting for the transfer window.
      Still an incredibly impressive mission even if I have no idea whether it was 100% optimised and I feel like my computer would have exploded if I tried that lmao.
