my father bought me this EXACT bike when i was 10 almost 11 back during the summer of 1990. It was new but obviously a year left over. I rode this bike until i was 16 and got my first truck and got my dl. I couldnt of ever had asked for a better bike. It ran like an absolute champ and i loved it so. I grew up in a very rural part of Arkansas. My dad was a otr trucker and my step mom was usually at home with my baby sister. needless to say I would ride this bike for miles and miles all over the county to all the best fishing holes and to all of the swimming spots and of course to my friends homes everyday where we would meet up and ride until the sunset. They all had ATVs or atc's at the time and so of course the only guy with a dirt bike they always wanted to ride mine. This bike was only 50cc but on a flat surface and on a paved Road in wouldn't have a problem going 70 mile per hour. after a few years I ended up taking the baffle out of the exhaust and jetted the carburetor which added a few more top end mph and added a little torque. I took fairly good care of it. Kept the oil level full and almost strictly used Yamalube for the crank case. I think i went through 3 back tires and one new one and put about 20k on the bike. Then sold it to my younger cousin and by the time he got it it needed a new clutch and so that was changed and he rode it for another 5 years. It was a fantastic motorcycle and I went into a Time Warp watching this little video. I couldnt of had a better enduro beginners bike. thanks for it and what a mighty fine motorcycle you've got.

This was the first bike I ever bought new and my parents let me get it out of savings. I was pretty young, around 10. I remember my dad and I rode double with it up a mountain rode once and that temp gauge was climbing up and fast! Of course I was young and dumb and sold it....wish I still had it as that would have been an amazing restoration project.

Your bike seems very nice, beautiful and well preserved. It was one of my father’s old bike( he has plenty of old school bikes still kept in very good condition, like floretta and a Sachs zundapp )and he gave it to me when I turned 16 even though I had been learning to drive it before I got my lisence. I still keep it in perfect condition and I will alwaysdo. This bike means so much to me. Countless memories and rides. I also had to find a safer place to keep it since some gypsy tried to steal it one day.

My Dt 50 runs 75kmh it is fast but it’s acceleration is not even as half as good as yours. What should I do? The Motor is ok I think it is one of the nozzles. Or the small pin, which is connected to the accelerator cable. It isn’t tight. It can wabble around. Sry for my language..😅🤘🏼👍🏼

its a DT50LC or DT50MX? lc models are faster if they arent limited, they can go almost 95kmh or 100kmh with some minor changes.

@@leanmiranda5 I had the exact same bike in this video in 1989-1990 from new. I put 12,000 miles on it in 1 year.
The exhaust needs to be decoked when the bike starts to slow down a bit.
      Warning - Dangerous:
I used to use a bucket of water and some caustic soda crystals to decoke mine. You need to be very careful about caustic soda crystals because it's very powerful chemical. You must start with water in the bucket first, about a half full bucket. Cold water. It must be cold. Because as you add the soda crystals they heat the water. If you start with more water then you will have boiling caustic soda water Which will pull the grease from any part of your skin it touches. It's really dangerous. Cold water. Slowly add a few crystals at a time and stir the water each time you add the crystals. Wear gloves, safety goggles, long sleeves etc no skin visible at all. If you're under 18 reading this please don't do it. Talk to an adult about how to do it or bring it to a garage.
I think it's two engine bolts and one or two mount bolts. Undo those and remove the exhaust. I would seal off one of the end of the exhaust with a rubber glove and some elastic bands. And the other end I would pour in the caustic soda mix. I would leave it standing against the wall for 30 minutes. Then I would pour the dirty mixture away, carefully. Then then I would run cold clean water through the exhaust a few times shaking it about to make sure all of the caustic soda was removed.
Then I would refit the exhaust and the bike will be back to top speed.
Apparently as the two stroke is burning the oil particles get stuck to the inside the exhaust near the engine and eventually they make this whole smaller and smaller. It's smaller the whole gets the less exhaust gas that goes through and the slower the bike goes.
But yours could be slow for any number of reason. My bike was brand new and running into condition.

But isn´t this a 125? Or is it parts from the 125? Well there is some of them here, but not many. And they are surely not in this condition. I had an Honda MT5 this spring but it was very much in need of repair so I had to sell it. But I lost money on the deal. Besides I am too old for this, I am over 40. In Sweden you are considered to be a loser if you drive this kind of vehicle and you have passed 35...

You NEVER to old to ride a nice moped. All the elder and even also younger Dutch guys, even much older than me, and I am over 50 and still ride my 1987 dt50mx, are riding their precious restored Yamaha's zündapps keidlers, honda's etc etc and much older (also many dutch brands) mopeds, all kinds of brands, or old or modern moped scooters ...
We don't care what anybody else is thinking, you should do what you like ! It's our and their hobby and could be expensive too, to restore a moped more beautifull than it ever was or could be ! Especially those beautifull ''special painted'' airbrushed Zündapps Kreidlers etc etc, or just original factory colors. Serious effort time an money it takes to restore and maintain all kinds of mopeds, just as any other motorised vehicle.
It's a serious hobby of many over here, and in counties around the Netherlands have them and ride them and it's booming !
People are in awe when elder dudes or sometimes girls too, ride their oldtimer mopeds filled with pride of there motorised horses, in groups of sometimes 10, 20, 50 , 100 or more. Just the same as oldtimer cars.
And the most of them seeing those mopeds are thinking, ''beautifull'', 'gosh wish i still had mine, '' because most of them rode them for years, or had a moped just like it !
Hell even a very good moped shop from Tiel, Holland even migrated many years ago to Sweden, because in Sweden even more people ride these mopeds and demands where high over there . Perhaps you know them, www.50cc.eu
All those other knackerbröt people 😉😁(no offence meant) over there in Sweden should change their attitude and think whatever they like and you should NOT be concerned what they may think or not, as long as you have the pleasure having and riding thoses bikes.
It's a motorized vehicle, hardly diffrent from the bigger motor bikes. it's a means of transportation, it's fun , etc etc. And its fairly cheap to ride, with less effort and nogger and faster range than a normal bicycle.
Kids or other people often say nice motor, while it is just a moped. The don't know the diffrence... it all looks cool and has a motor an needs fuel.
So what. Just buy what you can and like or get a motor driverlicence.
We do not considder ourselves a looser when riding mopeds, nor does anybody else.
Why bother what some other may think.
You do not need a expensive Ferrari or Tesla to be cool and drive and be happy ?!!!

This is not a 125, it's a 49cc classed as a 50 cc. Why would you suggest it to 125 when there is Google and you could easily look up Yamaha DT50LC? :-)
The version that Yamaha brought to the UK and Europe was a much weaker version than which it brought to America. What you're seeing is the American market Yamaha DT50LC. This was a liquid cooled 6 gear, 50cc, capable of 50-55 miles per hour.
I had one in the UK from a specialist importer and he only charged £100 more than the rubbish European version. I had put a £100 deposit on a Honda MTX50 or MT50 BX or whatever it was called. And it was nowhere near as good as this DT50LC. I cancelled that order and bought the Yamaha DT50LC instead.
The European version was only capable of 30 to 35 miles per hour and had four gears and was an air cooled lower performance motor. The American version had a six-speed, water called, 50 to 55 mph motor, with much more stylish look and better parts.
The American DT50LC was capable of genuine 50 miles per hour, I sometimes saw 55 approximately on the clock. The red line starts at 10,000 and it would get to that.
What I found strange about it, since I grew up in the UK, was that you couldn't turn the lights off. I could only choose between high or low beam. There was no off on lights button.
The bike I had was imported new from California. It even came with L.A. licence plate 128989 :-)

@@Google_Does_Evil_Now Thank you for your answer! I thought it look so big and powerful so I assumed it could be 125. Now I know how it really is.
