What about RV parking while working there? Is this an option or even possible? Could one boondock in the parking lot? Are the dorm showers in the room or community showers in the dormitory?
I’m starting this summer, and it seems like you do get to chose your roommate if you’re going out there with them. Like I’m going out with my cousin, and they said we’ll mostly like get a room together, and if we don’t, we can request a change. Idk if things have changed a lot since this video, but that’s how it is now.
Yes, so that's how it was when I was there too, but I went solo. I ended up loving my roommate so I never had to request a change! I had some friends that clashed with theirs so they ended up switching roommates a few weeks into the season.
Hi! You said you were able to choose to arrive in June? That’d be great!- Everything I’ve read says that it has to be April-October. I guess after I apply I can tell them that’s when I’m available? Hopefully they’d still accept me even though I’m not available the whole 6 months
Hi! I believe they should. It may depend on what their applicants look like this year and if they are at a lack of employees. It doesn't hurt to apply and request the dates you need!
Same!! I wish, but I don't think I'll ever be in the situation again where I can just get up & leave home for a few months! I've visited a ton since I left, since that's as close as I can get!
Hi, according to the Yellowstone website, camping is limited to 14 days between July 1 and Labor day. It is limited to 30 days the rest of the year. Hope this helps!
To anyone seeing this -- I am super new to the idea of working seasonally and your videos have helped me a lot so far. My only question would be is it possible to do this type of work and also finish getting my degree online? I will be a junior in college this fall, but I wanted to travel and do school at the same time. Because this is costly, I figured I could work as well, but school needs to be my priority. Do they accommodate for college students?
I've seen them work in the kitchen, as well as in the guest services departments! I'm sure you could apply and they would give you some different options. (:
Do any of the surrounding towns have good wifi? I was offered a position in Yellowstone but I'm taking an online course that lasts 28 weeks and have to watch a few hours worth of video once a week
There are coffee shops in all of the surrounding towns, and I'm fairly certain they do have wifi! Sometimes you can also load videos with the dorm wifi, it just depends on the day.
Hi! I have a couple questions: do they have like roommate matching or something similar? Also- If someone comes to visit you, could they possibly stay in your dorm with you? or would they have to stay in a hotel/airbnb/camp/etc.?
Hi, I just watched a video on columbine, and it's good to see old familiar scenes agai, but I realized that this dorm is new and the old dorm I am familiar with, had to have burned during the big fire.did it?,and did old faithfull lodge by the employee rec hall survive?,nice seeing you again
I have the same question.. I am 20 and will be working at Yellowstone this summer but have no idea what the social situation will be like with drinking, smoking, days off, etc
Do they have any jobs that utilize trades (mechanical skills) I have experience with mechanical, light electrical, and carpentry. Was hoping I could make a bit extra there utilizing my skills and tools
I’m a minor (17), Is this possible for me? Will I get a roof over my head and food? should try to get a friend to come or would I be ok? will there be other people my age or will everyone be older ?
You have to be 18 to work there. However, I got hired when I was 17 and turned 18 by the time I had to start work. There is a lot of younger people who work there.
Hi! I do not know if you will see this comment but I wanted to ask you if they give you extra hours? I am going with work and travel and I need to make a good amount of money to pay back the agency and to travel a little at the end of the summer. I would like to work like 10 hours a day... 6 days a week😅
Thank you for making this video Carolyn! Question for you or anyone who sees this, if I wanted to apply for cook job but don’t have specific work experience or any degree or anything for being a cook would they be willing to hire me if they were in need for a cook or am I gonna have to apply for what I’m suitable for(cleaning and maintenance maybe hospitality if they have entry level type stuff) 26 years old working custodial and “light maintenance” jobs plus pt for a library no drugs no history and would work whole season I want to do other type of jobs just wondering if I stand out to them and if they’re willing to chance a job for me that I have no experience in would love and appreciate feedback! Nick
You can start in kitchen crew. I was a cook after being hired in general kitchen crew and telling them I took cooking classes back in high school. I’d say there’s a chance! especially if you are a hard and dedicated worker
i'm 18 and graduating my senior year in May, i was wondering if should i wait until graduation time to apply or can i still get the job if i apply before i graduate?
You can accept a position with them before you graduate, so I'd go ahead and apply! I applied in early January, graduated in May, and started working in the park in July!

Hi! I'm super late, but you can sign up for health insurance through Xanterra.
Cool! Thanks!

She mentioned it around 5:20 in the video

When you went with your cousin, how did the both of you go about applying? Did you just apply separately and both get the job, or something else?
Love the wpi shirt 💕 I’m from Worcester 👍🏽
Is there anywhere in the park to work out and exercise?
I start in April thanks 4 the free game lol
Carolyn, enjoying your channel. Do you know if we work in a park if we can stay in our camper instead of dorm?
I believe you can!

Gosh I miss Yellowstone lol. Will you ever go back?
Same!! I wish, but I don't think I'll ever be in the situation again where I can just get up & leave home for a few months! I've visited a ton since I left, since that's as close as I can get!
How many days can people go camping for in yellow stone national park?

Also I love these videos even though I'm 2 years late! They are super helpful and are answering most of my questions
What kind of job do they offer for older folks, i'm retired.
I've seen them work in the kitchen, as well as in the guest services departments! I'm sure you could apply and they would give you some different options. (:

hi! idk if you’ll see this but do they have gyms nearby?
Most locations within the park have basic gyms!
@@CasuallyCarolyn thank u!!

What the oldest employee in the dorm? What's the average age of employees in the not under 21 dorm?
Hi! I knew fellow employees that ranged from 21-40s and 50s! There was even a couple in their 60s that worked in Canyon village when I was there.
I'm 41 and about to do this!
it did not cost me anything to ride on the bus to places like Livingston,or the tetons, this was in 1980.1981
Are you allowed to bring a dog?
WPI that reminds me of growing up in Worcester. Do you know if we came to seasonal work in an RV could we stay/camp for a discount for exchange?
Do you know if servers made tips? If they did, did they get to keep it all?

sorry, also how did you feel about safety especially as a girl going there by yourself?
Did you go to WPI? I’m considering working at YNP this summer and I am currently a freshman at WPI! I would love to chat with you about YNP and WPI :)

How early do you apply for the summer jobs in NF?
I applied for my job in January, but you can still apply at this moment!
Hi just came accross you vid let me ask how long was your contract im thinking of applying but i dont want to work for just 4 month
Do you think it would be bad for me to have a drink at the pub if I’m 20? As long as I’m not in the dorm? or could I get fired for that.
I have the same question.. I am 20 and will be working at Yellowstone this summer but have no idea what the social situation will be like with drinking, smoking, days off, etc
Do they have any jobs that utilize trades (mechanical skills)
I have experience with mechanical, light electrical, and carpentry. Was hoping I could make a bit extra there utilizing my skills and tools
When I looked into it I found that Xanterra requires the covid shots.
Do you just have one job to sustain your lifestyle?
Hey, back when I worked at Yellowstone, I did!
I’m a minor (17), Is this possible for me? Will I get a roof over my head and food? should try to get a friend to come or would I be ok? will there be other people my age or will everyone be older ?
well if you go this summer season I can be your friend :)

I would just let them know about your situation and see if they would be able to schedule you more before you begin working there!
