20 years ago, my 3rd grade teacher would play George Winston's music while we worked on our assignments. I thought it was the most beautiful piano music I've ever heard, and I'm still a fan to this day.
I listened to him when I was a really small child, less than 10 years old, because my mom had some of his cassettes. He captured me then and now I'm 40 and I play piano in a band. I would not be performing if not for this man.
Without getting into it, George Winston is an extraordinarily generous person. I was very involved with Windham Hill at one point, and I had a personal experience with him, something he did to help, which was truly amazing. I don't want to say what it was because its personal to him and being a very humble person I know he would not want it known publicly. He is far more than he appears in this interview.
+David Evans His music speaks to my soul, somehow. I have to believe someone who can generate such beauty in music has an equally generous soul. I'm happy he added so much to your life.
There are very few of which you can say "X is a national treasure," but George Winston is one - the real thing. I have seen him perform numerous times. He is so very humble in person. He seems utterly unaware of how good he is, and how much his music means to others.
Just came back from hearing Mr. Winston live in St. Petersburg, FL last night 11/22/15. He played the Piece that starts this concert last night. It was... Breathtaking. I sometimes wonder if this quiet genius knows what an impact his music has had on the lives of so many. His Autumn and Forest CDs are part of the soundtrack of my subconscious. His December album is, quite simply THE soundtrack of the Holiday Season for my family. His Pachelbel Canon is probably my wife's most favorite recording ever. While we did not hear that track last night, we will cherish the memories for a long time, and hope he comes back to Tampa Bay soon. He is so humble. In years to come, it will be HIS technique that other will strive to master....
I started listening to George in 1985 when I got a FREE Windham Hill sampler with my first CD player - I've never looked back and have a majority of his albums. My all time track is Longing Love.
Colors/Dance (the opener) is my favorite George Winston piece to fool around with. The greatest revelation from the video, for me. was at his hand posture --- the sustain pedal covers up how staccato, almost percussive his playing is on this piece.
Wow, I'd only heard the CD version of Carol of the Bells, and this has blown me away. What a wonderful way to spend a holiday evening. Thank you, Mr. Winston.
Been listening to his music for over 20 years and finally see his face for the first time. What a humble Genius! Thank you for giving peace and tranquility to my life.
How could 10 people possibly give this/George Winston a thumbs down?? Would absoutely love/gladly welcome some type of explanation of why? #GEORGEWINSTON #PURETALENT #AMAZING #AMAZINGTIMESTEN
It's awesome to hear him play his own music live because then you know it's not just typing notes into the computer and letting it do all the work. I can now listen to his album and know he can actually play it. Colors was amazing. Can't believe the piano is capable of those cool sounds. That's what I call talent :)
Hace años lo vi en un par de ocasiones en directo en el Palau de la Musica de Barcelona. Para mí es un genio del piano y del valor del silencio, clave en la música. Es mi preferido y tengo la mayoría de sus CD's (comprados)
That adaptation of Carol Of The Bells is two hands doing the work of four! The Steinway folks are thinking: "I didn't know our instrument could make those sounds!"
Colors/Dance, from Autumn. His first album and the first piece on it. There are some new harmonies on this version of it compared to the original (but even knowing that, the original still blows me away, 27 years since I first heard it).
Like hearing and watching but am highly annoyed when people cough and sneeze in the background. It's like people just cough and sneeze when they get somewhere quiet!

An amazing musician, and a superlative human being.

He does a great job on "Colors / Dance"!
Beautiful
Excelente compositor, excelentes recuerdos y excelente música. Gracias por este regalo. Saludos desde Venezuela.
Wow loved the interview. That's why I use wood chips in my garden.

mi piace molto il controllo del suono di quest'artista straordinario. Dal vivo i brani sono stettacolari ...
His playing is mesmerizing. He's said it before, that God creates the weather and seasons, and he writes the musical score.
Un artista creativo e trascinante,, la sua ispirazione melodica e poetica fanno breccia nel cuore del mondo...
+Maurizio Setti Vero!
For over 25 years, I have compared all other pianists to GW. None of them have that certain QUALITY that GW has.
Jesus Christ that first piece. Unbelievable
I love George Winston.
Could you please make a list of the tracks being played?
Cheers.
44:55 George goes off on a philosophical tangent, off a question about his hobbies. WIN!!
Vaya pasada de versión de Colors/ Dance, espectacular
Fantastic arrangement from original works!(˶′◡‵˶)
How is George making those string plucking sounds when he reaches inside the piano?
Truly a blessed man
I hope he knows Yahweh
Can someone please please tell me which "song" he is playing around 4:16 - 5:20?

Colors-Dance from his Autumn album (first track). Love it!. itunes.apple.com/us/album/autumn-20th-anniversary-edition/id420701400
