Agree , would be nice to get the strategy used here to get that chip as a suspect ? oscilloscope testing could not always work if the chip is no told to "move" in that case ? - was it completely "dead as a parrot" (so easy to check) ? - or subtle "nand" issues from one gate ? please told us ;-) --> you should bring also a apprentice : i have so much things to share !!
The XPander is one of my alltime favorite Synths if not my favorite. Its sounding so warm and deep fat analog with its endless modulation possibilities.
Yeah, it's not boring to actually see you find the problem. This is like watching a cooking video but just showing the ingredients and then cut to the finished meal. But still a good video. Thanks!
Great video! I'm watching this because I had to repair another Xpander today; the fault on mine was a broken trace on the ENV_X button, nothing complicated. Love your channel, greetings from México.
Shame you did not show all "the boring scope stuff" ...i would of loved to have watched that !! (seriously) ... great vid though as always ...thanks again ...
Great video!! really, but I miss the troubleshooting section. Would have been interesting. However, I have a Matrix 12 here with exact the same symptoms. I had first to repair the power supply. But now I know how to go on. Let's see if I find the fault and what fault....
Thanks for the video! I'm curious about your probing technique. I don't see you connect a ground lead from your oscilloscope probe to the board. What forms the ground connection?
I really wanted to see the whole oscilloscope "boring" part up to the NAND... you can learn a lot of things from a video like this!
totally agree, informative video but missed out the best bit where you can learn the most from.

bit over my head but these are very relaxing to watch
Great vid, good to see an xpander/matrix series in your vid lineup! Thanks!

thank you
Why do I keep watching these vid's when I should be (trying to) repair my own synths???
because you get some useful informations out of it :-)
LFOSyncToo.
And he makes all look so easy :-)
@@Bishka100 Ain`t that the truth !! :-)
Fascinating, thank you for this inter esting Video. Love it so much. You are really the best on tracking down synth problems.
Thanks soo much :)

hi did you manage to sort it our ?

The synth and the scope are plugged in on the same circuit and share a common earth ground.
I was also wondering....
Very interesting video from the user point of view, thanks. If you can fix them, maybe you can even build them from scratch too :)
well, you can :D
