1980. My favorite Roger Moore character. As good a thriller as you can get, non-stop, fast-paced action to the end. People may think, it's only a movie, but men like Ffolkes actually existed, helping to keep England safe, and it's rather frightening to think they don't make them like that anymore, to continue protecting things. Single-minded, incorruptible, certain of the right way, decisive and loyal. Men like that are not allowed to take part in anything in the modern, P.C. correct socialist world of Britain today. Oh, Anthony Perkins. I think It’s ironic in this movie that he wants only men and no women on his crew. I have a young friend who’s husband would leave her alone to take care of their 2 young boys for 4 months at a time to serve time on a submarine for the US Navy. She had no idea what was going on until a nurse called her and told her that she she needed to be tested for the HIV virus. Fortunately she tested negative. Consequently she divorced that husband about 10 years ago and last year married another man. She and both her boys are very happy for her.
It is a great movie. I never liked Roger Moore. But there is some great actors in this movie, like the guy who was the phyco in Phyco and the guy who played chief inspector Wexford
Many mistakes in the filming, but I guess one may call it, "a good English comedy", with the unusual sense of tacit humour and the message that modern men prefer cats from women and the converse of that too, all the result of equality.
Fascinating - interesting plot, though still a few points unexplained. Almost a comedy in spots - and verging on a local amateur production. Roger has never been one of my favourite actors - too stiff and limited; though, the madness of his slightly unhinged character did give him a chance to extend beyond his busy eye crunches and eyebrow gymnastics - but those techniques are so firmly entrenched in his skill set that they were given full reign as if on steroids at times. Worth watching - if nothing better is on offer. Sadly we don't see right to the end and the credits are totally missing. This means that ads for further viewing options are thrown up over the last few scenes - shame!
What's really idiotic is that they made a terrible casting choice - the lady on the train frowning at ffolkes' smoking is the great Angela Thorne, who has twice done flawless versions of Margaret Thatcher, first in Sir Roger Moore's own James Bond Movie, 'For Your Eyes Only', and then in the epically funny comedy 'Anyone for Dennis' which is floating around on TH-cam. Why they cast her as other than the PM escapes all possible comprehension !
> The actual title of the movie is ffolks -- as the man tells the PM -- two small f's. I don't know where "North Sea Hijack" came from or why someone thought it was better than "ffolks."
