- This is video tour of the Batu Caves (Tamil: பத்து மலை) and Ramayana Caves in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Batu Caves are one of Kuala Lumpur´s Top Attractions to visit. This video includes a tour of the Ramayana Caves and Batu Caves (the main cavern with the colorful steps to climb). Watch out for information about this Hindi Temple area and entrance fees.
Wiki writes about the Batu Caves in Kuala Lumpur, "Batu Caves (Tamil: பத்து மலை) is a limestone hill that has a series of caves and cave temples in Gombak, Selangor, Malaysia. It takes its name from the Sungai Batu (Stone River), which flows past the hill. It is the tenth (பத்து - Pathu in Tamil) limestone hill from Ampang. Batu Caves is also the name of a nearby village.
The cave is one of the most popular Tamil shrines outside India, and is dedicated to Lord Murugan (Tamil God Murugan Tamil: தமிழ் கடவுள் முருகன்). It is the focal point of Hindu festival of Thaipusam in Malaysia..."

Batu Caves is also one of my favourite tourist destination, if you like the idea of combining religious sites and nature, there is also a temple called Chin Swee temple at Genting Highlands. I went there and the scenery is awesome, just imagine a chinese temple on top of the cloud and covered with forest. I heard Borneo (east malaysia) is also another amazing destination to visit, hopefully I can visit there next time.

Is there any entrance fee for the dark cave ?
The gentleman with the belly is likely Ravana, king of Sri Lanka during Lord Rama's reign. The northern Indians call him a demon, the southern Indians and Lankans call him a great king. Depends which story you follow, I guess, and where your loyalties lie.
It's also possible that he may be Kumbhkarana, a demon who loved feasting and hibernating. Mythology says he was not to be disturbed, else he reigned havoc on everyone and being very strong, only someone like Lord Rama could defeat him with Divine Powers!

A lot of North Indians like me who know mythology don't consider Ravana as a demon. We know he was a great king and a highly knowledgeable brahman. In fact before burning the effigy of Ravana we touch the feet of Ravana's effigy to be blessed with his wisdom. He is considered as a "demon" just because he kidnapped Lord Ram's wife and on lighter note it's never a good idea to do that.

I was in KL for 4 days and came here on sunday jan20. It was too crowded and didnt get to see anything. I wish it was as quiet as the day you visit it.

did you manage to take the dark cave tour? (dark cave tour which is adjacent to the batu caves shows you the interior of this 1000 years old caves but it costs $30MYR per person.)

Two corrections however.
Firstly, it is Hindu Temple and Hindu religion not Hindi. Hindi is a language.
Secondly, the large green fruits you showed are Jackfruits not Durians. Durians have spiky thornlike outer surface. I am not sure if Durians are allowed in the area, as Durians have a very strong pungent odour.

Indian ethnic in Malaysia actually do not speak Hindi, most of them speak Tamil and a fraction of them are of Sikh descendants.

They should have left the caves with its natural wonder ... I see a lot of graffiti and cements and signs inside the caves .. oh well ...
The colors all around that beautiful complex remind me a bit of the Mexican culture. We use different colors such as these in some of our homes, churches/missions and restaurants. It is a bit sad that some people don't respect areas of importance to the cultures that support them. All that graffiti on the walls of the cave shows disrespect. It isn't necessary to leave your initials somewhere to prove you were there. Be like Maro and take pictures!!!!
The colors really are amazing and really compliment the area both inside and outside the caves. Last time we visited the stairs had not yet been painted and you can really see the difference. We also wish that people would refrain from graffiti at tourist attractions, we do not "get it".
