  • Bjørn has been working on this model since winter to get it ready for Warbird weekend here at the local flying club. Today he decided to take the maiden and called me up to get it on video. The model was bought used but im not sure if it has been flown before. During flight and the last turn the horisontal rudder came loose and there was nothing he could do. You can see the flutter in the slow motion clips. The last clip was slowed down to about 25% with optical flow.. it looks bad but you can really see the flutter.
    Pilot: Bjørn
    Behind Camera: Bengt
    Camera: Panasonic GH5
    Edited in Premiere pro with some color grading.
    Greetings from Elna & Bengt. Stay safe.

    What a shame! It sounded wicked! Maybe the horn came loose; it did two high(er) speed passes without flutter before the crash... good reason to order e new one!

    can you say flutter?

  • @paulybabe7
    @paulybabe7 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's exactly what happened to mine but not servo failure, it is a poor design around the tailboom/tailplane area, and a lot of turbulence over the tailplane from the rear prop, I used to fly mine as a slope soarer before I flew it with the engines ( super tigre 45's ), and it was awesome, and then one flight with power and it was gone.

      that wasn't servo failure at all.... that was aerodynamic flutter due to too much throttle.... pilot error

    Wow. Freaking bummer about your airplane man. Sorry. I'll tell you though, that's the most gnarly RC plane crash I've ever seen. That was a fantastic crash. Lot of work time and money down the drain though. What you should have done was leave the plane crash just as it lies then start doing time lapse. Pull One Wing back over to the fuselage with the wing attached and attached to the fuselage and then you'll have a phoenix. Use all miniature figures and miniature equipment that you build and do a Flight of the Phoenix, LOL. You know kind of like claymotion claymation

    • @bjrnmbye8335
      @bjrnmbye8335 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dick
      I'm not sure of the angle of the engines, but I think they were straight mounted.
      With glow engines they rotate in different directions, so I do not think any offset is needed.
      CG: Difficult to find manual online, but after a while I found that it was recommended to 10 cm. behind L.E, so then
      I had to add 150g. weight in front, so total weight was about 8 kg.
      Noticed immediately after takeoff that it was a bit heavy in the nose, so had to adjust a lot of up-trim.
      After adjusting the trim, it seemed very stable and easy to maneuver, almost so I was looking forward to landing it. :-)

      Hope you get more flight time with yours than I got.
      Get the maiden on film!
      Good luck!
