  • Assalamualaikum wr. wb.
    Greetings for all of us,
Dear, Director General of Information Application of Ministry of Communication and Information RI
What we respect, Chairman of PANDI
What we respect, Head of Paniradya Pati, Heads of the DIY and Regency / City Cultural Services
What we respect, the invited guests, especially the Javanese cultural observers.
The drafting of a Javanese-English Dictionary by Stuart Robson and Singgih Wibisono in 2002 which contains more than 25,000 words with example sentences, may be used as a reference.
According to Michael Krauss, a linguist from the Alaska Native Language Center, the resilience of regional languages is lived out by written tradition, its use in education, and its role as a supporter of regional culture.
    Ladies and gentlemen,
IN this Digital era, if a script does not exist in digital form, it is considered does not exist at all. If there is one, it is considered a non-living script, because there are no more supporters. Just like the ancient Egyptian script, hieroglyphs. Its not too late for the Indonesian script to enter the digital era, because 25 years ago, Javanese script was already registered in Unicode.
We were only a few months late from Thailand, but ahead of Burma. In fact, Javanese script have already built-in on smartphones. Therefore, we can set it up to write messages on various platforms, for example on WhatsApp and so on. But all of these do not yet have their own digital platform based on the Nusantara script. So, in the digital world, the Nusantara script is still considered a hieroglyph.
Therefore, PANDI's initiative to "knit Indonesia" in the form of assigning separate domain names for Nusantara characters should be supported. That way, along with the dot-id domain name for Indonesian, there will also be a domain name representing Indonesian characters, including Javanese script. The requirement is that each domain name must be registered to ICANN, as the manager of world domain names. ICANN only agrees if it believes that the script is really alive and has active cultural supporters. To that end, ICANN needs to see if there is a website based on living Nusantara characters.
One of the most effective and fast ways is to create a website creation competition for each Indonesian script. This contest also serves to test whether there really is an active cultural supporter for each of these characters. Where tonight we have witnessed the winner of the competition.
So far PANDI has collaborated with the Yogyakarta Palace for Javanese script, Udayana University for Balinese script, Pajajaran University for Sundanese script, PB NU for the Pegon Arabic script used in pesantren, and most recently with the Lontaraq Nusantara Aksara Foundation for Lontaraq script.
This moment is an opportunity to show the world that we exist, our culture is alive, our characters are empowered.
With such hopes, while being grateful, with the words of Bismillahhirahmannirahim,I declare that this Javanese script Digitalisation, officially launched.
Finally, may God Almighty be pleased to bestow His blessings and mercy, so that the Javanese language and scripts can live on, because they are truly enriched by their speakers who seem to rise again from their long sleep, and make them an active users.
That is all and thank you.
    Wassalamualaikum wr. wb.
