    Your openness is so appealing, and you can see that in how people respond to it. That's the best thing about reaction videos in general, but then you add this incredible combination of musical knowledge and preternatural inexperience with popular music... your channel is solid gold.

      The copyright detection stuff doesn't like it when audio that has already been uploaded to TH-cam (in this case AC/DC own upload of the son), appears unaltered in chunk longer than... I think it's 15 seconds.... so basically, if you chop it up, or even just talk over the music, or modify the audio sufficiently you don't make the thing wake up in the first place.
      It's annoying but a system one can deal with.

      @@cobusvanderlinde6871 Nice try, but this is about AC/DC. This doesn't happen to any of her other videos, whether they are Queen, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, or even Metallica. Whatever AC/DC was about at the beginning, now they are just money grubbers. They refused to make individual songs available on streaming services for the longest time, just to force people to buy their whole albums so they could get people to pay for songs they don't want. They only put them up when they realized hardly anyone was buying records anymore. AC/DC: Australians Clamoring & / Digging for Cash.

    AC/DC is my teen years during the 80's, every Australian knew them and their songs. In the 70's - 80's you had the Australia pub scene where all bands cut their teeth to make a living, you had to be good and AC/DC were one of those bands, people went pub to pub following them.

      It's all audio clip recognition AI bots. Some labels feed the trollbots with more detailed source material "signatures" and run more bots simultaneously. It's never the actual band that cares, but following the label will find the more censored content, because they have a "robot army" of DMCA claim form letter generators. And it's also not even humans or "TH-cam" really other than it can be automated and enforced by robots with no ability to judge fair use or other things. They just listen for matches and send form letters.

    Thanks Amie and Vlad for persevering with this one through the maze of You Tube copyright nanny's - glad (and slightly surprised) that you liked it as much as you did. AC/DC are raw, sweat soaked, blue collar, blues based, high voltage rock, and nearly a genre unto themselves. Most of their compositions are relatively simple, and best experienced live (although the albums are very good too), but having said that, AC/DC do simple better than just about anyone else, and that makes them broadly appealing, hence their success. They are a band that don't take themselves too seriously, and make music that is fun to play, and listen to, because, it's supposed to be entertainment after all. Even though the members are now in their '70's, they are still touring, and providing one of rocks best "fun nights out". Cheers!

    An interesting feature of guitar riff that plays from the opening second to the end of the song is that it’s a feature of the guitars tuning. Each of the melody notes in the pattern is alternated with the note the string is tuned to open (B). His fingers are just moving up and down the B string, and by alternating with the open note it makes the pattern sound much more difficult to play than it actually is, some you only have to finger every other note.

  • @mortmortmort8908
    @mortmortmort8908 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You're absolutely right about the rapid fingerwork. The music video for this song shows Angus Young playing the intro with hammer-ons but you can tell just by listening to the studio version, he picks every note. I have met at least one guitarist that I told that to and they were blown away and couldn't believe how hard it was to play it properly.
    People dunk on the simplicity of the guitars of AC/DC and Ringo Starr's drums for The Beatles but in reality it's really hard to maintain it as consistently as they have. They're legends for a reason.

    Another big (huge) band that is now a part of your journey. I am thrilled that you enjoyed this so much. I actually thought you might like them, since how I have noticed that you like a lot of hard rock songs. So when people are trying to determine what the difference is between hard rock and metal, I think we need to ask ourselves, "Does Amy like it?" If she does it is probably hard rock.😉 AC/DC are often identified as the closest representation of pure rock/hard rock, which I agree with. They have a strong Chuck Berry influence, so the term the term "rock n roll" also applies. Particularly with their lead guitarist Angus Young, who is heavily influenced by Chuck. You should also hear some of their earlier Bon Scott era songs, now that you have heard Brian Johnson as the lead singer. Either way, they still always have that same iconic AC/DC sound. Great reaction and observations.

      @@LeeKennison You might be right actually. I haven't thought about that, but now when you mentioned it, yes, I think that, out of all metal bands and songs Amy has listened to, Rammstein is the one she liked the most. And I have to admit that it makes me feel really good and proud. 🥰 But also I am aware that there is a lot of songs that she probably wouldn't like, simply because of the topic of them and how they have been performed live or especially in official videos. I don't know... Still, there is more than a half of their songs that I think she would appreciate.
      But Rammstein aside, I am curious to see if she will find another metal band that she'll like. Maybe after being more exposed to heavier sound. Just curious. I actually don't care about metal or genres at all anymore, it's just something that lingers in my mind sometimes.

    The “lightning” part is a classic electric guitar effect consisting on rubbing the pick against the length of the string (is there a specific name for it..?), widely used in heavy rock. I don’t know who first used it either but Pete Townsend of The Who for instance used it profusely since the mid/late 60’s.

      It’s called a pick scrape. You use the edge of the pick and scrape it hard along the length of the E and A string from the bridge towards the neck. Sounds really good if you then continue the scrape with a slide (glissando) down towards the headstock and end on a massive power chord.

    One of my favorite AC/DC songs is Hells Bells, the way it starts and builds, and incorporates bells, is just so interesting and auditorially pleasing. AC/DC is one of those bands that you know why they are popular, they are just so easy to listen to. Every song is a banger. And that strong powerful sound is present in every song.

    I am so glad you have started to do some AC/DC. This was a great starter song. I love the Brian Johnson era, but I enjoy Bon Scott even more. I really hope you all do The Jack, or Nightcrawler, soon, as I think it would be a really good show of how different this band can be. Though really any of the big songs from Bon Scott's era would be great. As usual a wonderful channel.

    I love your reactions Amy. I'm an AcDc/Heavy Metal fan since 1983. I first saw them live in Dublin on that tour in 91 or 92, they played for 2 and a half hours and it was magic. Best gig I was ever at and I've seen them many times since. Coming from a classical perspective your descriptions are brilliant. From Ireland. What is wrong with TH-cam for god's sake it ruins your video! What is wrong with them?

    Kings of the Aussie garage bands. They always drive the beat to make the rhythm seem like it's running ahead, it becomes infectious. This song always reminds me of watching a storm coming across the ocean (I live in new Zealand... We get a lot of that)

    This song is the best first song in a gig ever. It builds so well and when the drums start the beat, the crowd literally explodes. And the crowd explosion is quite far away in minutes compared to your normal rock/pop songs.

    OK, so here's what I'm gonna do (let me know if this is just crazy). I am gonna download this video, and put in my video editor, and every time "TH-cam didn't like this part of the video" message comes up, I'm just going to cut that out, and then render the video. That way I can watch it uncut LOL. Normally I wouldn't go through this much work, but Amy's review & analysis of popular rock/metal songs are priceless.

    AC/DC vocalists on official studio & live albums:
    * 1975 ...1979 *Bon Scott*
    * 1980 ... mid-80s *Brian Johnson* with vocals quite similar to his work in Geordie (70's)
    * Mid-80s onwards *Brian Johnson* with his "lost voice".
    Guns n' Roses vocalist *Axl Rose* was vocalist for the last two legs of the 2015-2016 Tour, due to Brian Johnson's hearing problems.
    Bon Scott died 1980, which is the reason for the next albums cover being black. And starting with an actual church bell.
    _Dave Evans_ sings in one single "Can I Sit Next to You, Girl" (1974) . _Denis Loughlin_ occasionally substituted him during the early shows.

    In Romania , in two separate cities, the music you play is censored 2 seconds an image who says "TH-cam don't like this music so we cut, cut,cut " then two seconds of music. And so on.
    On other channels "AC/DC - Thunderstruck" plays without any problem. So I think is an attack to your channel.
    Love your channel, have listened all 44 posts for "Pink Floyd - The Wall" You are marvelous!

And not only was it not touched by YT Big Brother, the contributor didn't even insert pauses in it. Which I understand you usually have to do for your video to stay up. Here in Australia just the guitar riff of Thunderstruck is often played before major sporting events. ACDC had a previous incarnation in the 70s with a different singer, Bon Scott, who tragically passed from alcoholism in about 1980. Brian Johnson left his band, Geordie, and became the ACDC front man. Making ACDC a band who got better from a new lead singer. If you want to go back to the Bon Scott era, I suggest "A long way to the top if you want to rock and roll" which uses an unusual musical instrument, at least for hard rock.

    Compared to all others reactions where all I hear is "Wow. What is this? How come I've never heard of this? etc etc" - I have to say I really like how you analyze and break down your thoughts on different bands and styles of music (absolutely loved all your Dire Straits and Queen reactions). I guess coming from a classical musician, there is a real study and appreciation of musical and lyrical art breakdown. Without meaning to disparage the others I feel like you are miles ahead of the game.

    Lots of people recommending songs by the late great Bon Scott, I’d throw in “It”s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘n Roll),” perhaps the only rock song in rotation that features a bagpipe/guitar duel. Brian Johnson’s voice has become iconic since with plenty of great tracks to check out, off the top of my head “You Shook Me All Night Long,” “Back in Black,” and “Let There Be Rock.” There are many, many more.
    Also, damn it TH-cam, why do you have to keep ruining our fun? Chill, dawg.

    One of the most famous aspects of AC/DC's music is the unusual "screechy" singing (or however you care to describe it). After original singer Bon Scott unfortunately passed away, they came back with the Back in Black album with Brian Johnson as the new singer; his singing/voice sounded remarkably similar to Scott's (I personally think both are very good). Another thing the band is famous for is lead guitarist Angus Young's energetic stage antics. He would do the duckwalk, get down and spin around on the ground, climb up on the singer's shoulders, etc. all while still playing like a champ!

    They're one of the only bands i can think of that never really altered their sound, "much".They didn't feel the need to go all progressive and/or soft with a bunch of ballads. You could always count on them to just have fun and rock you. Angus Young is one of the most animated lead guitarists ever, fun to watch him hop across the stage or march in place, all while constantly head-banging the entire time. I think he's in his 60's and still does it.
