Creepshow was published in 1982, Cycle of the Werewolf in 1983. Wrightson also did illustrations for Stephen King's The Stand: The Complete & Uncut Edition, published in 1990.
I have been a fan of Creepshow the movie since I was 5 or 6. Wished for a real comic to exist, and had no idea one did until I went to the Moondog's grand closing sale in Chicago (like 1992-93ish. Copped it for 25 cents, along with many other amazing books that expanded my 14-15-year-old brain. Only other copy I saw what in Ciro Nieli's (TMNT 2012) Office.
Fluffy isn’t a werewolf. However agreed, werewolves are a tough genre to get right but “Stray Bullets” David Lapham did a great werewolf series for Avatar Press called “Ferals” abt 10 years ago. Love the show!!!!
I used to look at this when I would go to Walden bookstore at the mall back in the 80s, but I just purchased my copy a month ago. So glad you reviewed it.
This comic was masterfully done...as an extra bonus they should have inserted mail order ads for cheap gag ripoffs....like that voodoo doll the kid used.
I remember avoiding Creepy magazines as a child. I saw this in the shelf as a tween in a bookstore in Hollywood. (B. Dalton? I don't remember) but I was drawn to it.
Never saw this book in any comic book shop growing up.(80's/90's). Other Bernie collections were easy to come across; I would always stop and thumb through them before getting my stack.
Hell yeah. I loved this thing when I was a kid, lost that copy long ago. There's a new edition that has really lousy reproduction, find the original printings if you can. As far as I know, Wrightson worked with King for Creepshow, and did illustrations for Cycle of the Werewolf, The Stand expanded edition, and The Dark Tower V: Wolves of the Calla.
"Care equals scare." -Stephen King. EC were arguably comeuppance tales. And those are fun. But King knows real horror happens when bad things happen to good people--like in the real world, sadly. Love this channel...and your guys' talent. Keep it all up
i was aware of this comic and the movie. Because I'm old. I don't remember seeing it in comic stores. I think i saw it in bookstores. I could be wrong, it was so long ago.
I guess Bernie had an insane deadline for this thing. Like 30 days or something. Maybe less. Stephen king wanted Graham Ingels supposedly, but he had turned his back on horror. I think I read this in an interview. Anyway I love Bernie!

“Meteor shit!”
Easily in my top five favorite films from my childhood.
Took me YEARS to find a copy. My Dad lived in Maine and found a first print at a local bookstore. What a great comic.

Love the show!!!!
"The Crate" terrified me as a kid. It was easily the goriest segment of the bunch.
I always liked how this was the same size format as the EC Classics reprints in the 80s so fit in well with them.
literally orderd this on saturday and its coming today haha

I remember seeing this in the bookstores in the malls of the 80s. Along with Elquest and Maus.
Never saw it at the comic shop but the local Waldenbooks had the same copy of it in stock for years until probably the early to mid-90s.
I'm one of those who never knew this existed. Oddly enough, I do remember the cover. Thanks for the walk-through!

My throw blanket and pillow (from Creepy Company) are Creepshow themed! I credit this book for getting me interested in horror.

I saw Cycle of the Werewolf in the same store, but I'm not sure which came first.
I remember the Frogs story from digests. Was it in Plop?
interesting fact: though Bernie Wrightson did the adaptation, Ron Frenz did the art that appeared in the movie itself.
My favorite video so far about my favorite movie with art from my favorite artist. Ive always wanted this comic but couldnt find it.
Cycle of the Werewolf came out in 1985.
Read that years ago at the Haverhill Public Library. In fact, I read that long before I saw the film. Bonnie bought a new edition of that last year.
When he stirred the orange juice with the vodka bottle I lost my shit when I was a little kid. Lol
I've probably owned 3 copies of this over my life, thus far. Gifts, etc. My LCS carried it along with oversized editions, magazines.
Bought this in the bookstore when it came out. Thanks for this.
I hope they have Ed Harris dancing in that comic. That was GHOULISH! :)
Oh man, the naked Leslie Nielsen line cracked me up

The crate is about a Tasmanian Devil not a werewolf

I wasn't aware of this comic! SO DOPE. I'm confused though. Did the film or comic come first?

This is still available at my Barnes and noble
New to me fellas! Great one!
Did you know that was Stephen King's son in the movie in the beginning
Had this when I was 13 and it was stolen from me when I was in middle school. Just got it back when they reprinted a couple of years ago...
I guess Bernie had an insane deadline for this thing. Like 30 days or something. Maybe less. Stephen king wanted Graham Ingels supposedly, but he had turned his back on horror. I think I read this in an interview. Anyway I love Bernie!
So good. One of my favorite horror movies. I have the comic too, which is fantastic. Great review guys.
Mister Pratt? Got any BUGS in there?!🤤
I still have my first printing
One of my favorites!
I got the creepshow book 📖. 😀👍
