I cracked a rib when I was a teenager and didn't know until the next day when breathing too hard made it feel like I was being stabbed in the heart and exhaling too much did the same thing. I’ve broken a lot of bones in my day, 13 to be exact, along with my friends (skateboarding) but I never broke a rib, I had tough friend that said breaking a rib is very painful, and it’s painful for days and days, to weeks and weeks. So that would be miserable! Kinda like tailbone, just can’t get comfortable.
I managed to fracture a rib through oddly contorting my chest muscles causing an odd pull which fractured the rib. Doc couldn’t quite figure out how I did it or could I. But holy cow did it hurt and hurt well on for a few days. Was nagging for a few more weeks. Seriously sucked and all I could do for it was take drugs for it.
As a correctional officer, thank you, Judge Simpson. There was NO equipment he could have worn. His ballistic vest might have lightened the blow a little but could have stopped him from getting in as much due to the bulk of it.

Yeah. I’m a RN and it’s not that hard to break a rib. People with pneumonia, bronchitis, in minor car wrecks or even having a minor fall break ribs all the time. It kinda just depends on your bone density, really. If you’re on birth control, that tends to affect your bone density and makes you more prone to fractures. Lots of variables, there.
If I ever visit Michigan, I think I’d like to attend Judge Simpson’s trials in person (as a spectator of course, not as a defendant). He’s the best. 😊 I dont think I’ll ever visit Michigan though. LOL😂

I found an old trial that Judge Manning was in as an attorney in family law. If you look up Wimbush sentencing part 1 and go to the last few minutes. She appears and speaks briefly.
Right! The officers sent to his home apparently just did a wellness check instead of picking him up. Not okay to let him skip all penalties for his non compliance.

He was discharged the same night as he didn’t qualify, and more than likely changed his tune once he realized that he wasn’t just gonna get a pity party, he was gonna get locked in a hospital where he absolutely would be miserable. So when he got to the ER he completely went back on all his threats, acted like a normal person, and they let him go. He apparently went back the next day and was placed onto an antidepressant of some sort. He never had a full psych evaluation, which if he was really intent on self harm, delusional or psychotic when he was originally sent to the ER, he would have gotten. Especially since the COURT sent officers to get him. That didn’t happen Bc he’s not mentally ill. He’s manipulative. And he likes his drugs and alcohol too much. And attention. I think he was drunk/impaired during his diatribe and came off as “normal” in court bc he is now tethered and can’t act up. If he was placed onto an antidepressant there’s no way in mellowed him out in 8 days. They take an average of 4- 6 weeks to reach effective levels for a patient to really be able to tell if they’re helping or not. Idk. Just something about that dude rubs me the wrong way. I’ve lost 2 friends to suicide. One by hanging. One by shotgun. Nobody saw it coming with either one and they both left young children behind, including a newborn. Both were men and their children left behind were girls that needed their dad. It’s not a topic to be taken lightly and ultimately the judge did the right thing. You don’t want that on your conscience if you’re wrong about the person bluffing…but it’s also seriously screwed up to use threats of self harm as a manipulation tactic to stay out of jail/avoid repercussions for your poor decisions. Either way. I hope the guy gets his stuff together.
I had a coworker who ended up needing surgery from an injury that began as a hyper-extended thumb after a confused 98yo dementia patient got ahold of the coworker's one hand with both of their's (patient) . Patient passed away a few weeks later, it took my co-worker over 6 months dealing with workman's comp to get the needed medical treatment.
Think each assault on a CO has its own case. The case involving the CO’s dislocated thumb was continued because Jeremy wants to review the CO’s medical records (presumably, to glean compromising info. about the CO).
Be funny if ole Jeremy waited all that time only to be told the er nurse looked at it, popped it back into place, gave him an ice pack, and sent him home.

Brinttany is up, we had a petite red headed Brittany next door! She passed out from drugs while stopped at a red light. She had a her young baby in a car seat in the back, drugs and a gun in her purse. She lost her baby and spent some time in jail.
