    I have been playing poker for about 30 years now. I don’t know how many times I have told people, “ there’s no need to throw your cards around, just turn them over right in front of you on the felt”. Tossing accomplishes nothing. Hard lesson learned. If you’re folding them it’s fine to toss them towards the dealer so that he doesn’t have to reach for them. But if you’re not folding just turn them over right where they are.

    Would love to see a little note on-screen on the hands you fold that are seemingly playable, so like " there was a 3 bet to me" so I folded this here.

      Pretty sure they’re hands that either mucked or the playable ones he raised and the table folded. I like that he shows a lot of hands that he goes through and there’s not much action. I was thinking the same thing though like suited KQ or pocket 9’s. I was like what the heck happened but if you raise to 17 and everyone Folds you can’t include that in vlog plus I’m sure he doesn’t make notes on hands like that so making a note would be time consuming and to take notes on every hand is impossible while in the moment playing.

    STAY - I would take a break and go for a walk and do some stretching to clear my mind. After 10-15 minutes I would return to the table as long as I could focus and forget about the insane mistake. I mucked KK once vs QJss thinking my opponent made a flush but I read the board wrong (the pot was $500+ so it hurt me a lot more than this one hurt you).

    I think that's still a chop, your hole cards didn't matter since you're both playing the board. Id have called the floor over for a ruling there.

  • @joeyp3094
    @joeyp3094 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I sit in the end seats when possible and will always toss my cards close to the board so opponents can see what I have quickly. Only once did they bounce the wrong way and the dealer was nice enough to let me flip them back up because he knew I wasn't mucking. I'm more careful now and toss them lower but nothing annoys me more than someone at the other end of the table flipping them over 1 inch from his chip stack.

  • @Hawksforever99

    QJo on a K high board that turns a gutter... Yeah I think you can continue the story... He's gonna continue a large% of the time with what I'd guess was either a hearts draw or weak pair/pocket pair... But when you go 3 streets on him like that and he misses his draw or doesn't improve that weak holding, it's a pretty easy fold for him and of course, you might've even been bluffing with the best hand.

  • @andrewalaskiewicz38

    Play!!!
    However, that’s awful! I’m glad you included this because it made me feel a little better because I’ve done something similar before when a person announced they had Q high flush when there was a flush on the board of QJ764 All spades and I had AQ and the guy had QJ. But I mucked too when they announced what they had and when he showed, the table was in awe that I folded a chop. So it happens to the best of us and I’m glad I only lost 70-80 in the hand but still a terrible learning experience to never muck before the other person shows and you’re 100% sure you’re beat. So it happens to the best of us. Keep the videos coming and thanks for including that because I believe most people wouldn’t include such a terrible play and it shows that you’re real and I appreciate that. Thank you and I hope that you’re not beating yourself up too bad. Enjoy the rest of your day and stay safe. Peace brotha! Let me know if you’re ever coming to Florida so I can come play with you!

    Love hearing your thought process on ranges with your position in each hand. I agree that position, and range of hand is an overlooked issue. Problem is alot of lower stakes players don't understand the process, and will stick around too long and just suck out on you. I know that's where making money is at, I've just experienced a lot of the bad suck outs lately.
    Also, as others have pointed out, your pot sizing is off. If you rake in a pot that totals say $50 to the flop, and bet $25 and no one calls, the pot is still only $50 not $75. The bet is never part of the pot until it is called by somebody. The rake comes off of the pot, not bets at most casinos. Just an FYI .
    Keep plugging away, and good luck with future sessions.

    • @andrewalaskiewicz38
      @andrewalaskiewicz38 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Position and range is probably the most important thing about poker so if someone isn’t aware of that then they need to learn ASAP before they play again or they will continue to be a losing poker player. At lower stakes 3 and 4 betting is also so rare unless you run into AA KK QQ or AK for the most part. So for people who are newer to the game and are playing 1-2NL study up on positioning and ranges and try 3 betting more and if you get 3 bet think about those 4 hands and if you can get two pair you’re likely to scoop in a massive pot because in lower stakes most people won’t fold pocket kings on a board like J9754. So playing hands like 9-7 suited could get you a massive pot and is easy to fold if you don’t hit the flop.

    You should always be results oriented. If you won the hand then you played it correctly. If you lost the hand then you played it wrong. Poker is as simple as that.

    • @andrewalaskiewicz38
      @andrewalaskiewicz38 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree to a certain extent. If you have Aces and a guy shoves pre flop on you there’s no way you’re going to fold that and if you do you shouldn’t be playing in the first place but if you end up losing that hand does that mean you played it wrong?

    • @Studgunners
      @Studgunners 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andrewalaskiewicz38 Yes! Remember, you should ALWAYS be results oriented. If you used perfect tactics in war yet still lost the war and possibly even your life, should you be happy that your tactics were +EV?

    • @andrewalaskiewicz38
      @andrewalaskiewicz38 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Studgunners we are going to probably have to agree to disagree on this. I said I agreed with you to a certain extent but there’s certain aspects where I believe that your logic is incorrect. In poker you can’t say you played a hand wrong when a player shoves and you call with the nuts and unfortunately they hit a one outter on you on the River. How would you think that is playing the hand wrong? Wouldn’t wrong be folding the nuts on the turn to an all in bet by the opponent? I do comprehend what you’re saying in regards to results oriented saying that if you win the hand you played it correctly and if you lose than you played it wrong. I understand what you’re trying to say, but I’m some cases you’re incorrect. Like the example I mentioned. You can play the hand perfectly and you get unlucky on the River once the action is finished by the turn and you have the nuts. If you believe that is incorrect than I’m not sure why this conversation is happening unless you’re just trying to intentionally troll people. I also don’t know how or why you’re trying to equate this to war. In war if you design something that will blow the world up and you manage to shoot yourself up to space and you survive but everyone else dies, you technically won the war because you’re the last person standing but did you really win if everything and everyone else dies?? I’m so confused by your logic in this. Also in regards to the example I mentioned, I think if you ask 100 people that play poker if they have pocket Aces. And the flop is AhAdKh turn is 2c and your opponent shoves. I’d say 100 people would make the call. If the River is the 10h and your opponent turns over JQ of hearts than by your logic you played the hand wrong. Just because you lost the hand doesn’t mean you played it wrong.

  • @jolaz69
    @jolaz69 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’ve misread the board twice that I can think of. Both times were in 3/6 limit. First time I was heads up with this guy and he was betting the whole way and I was calling with AQ ace high. He tabled his hand after betting the river. I showed him my hand and then mucked. Thought he had a pair but he had weaker ace high.
    The next time was totally gross because it was multi way $200 pot and I was all in on the turn after it was capped. I had a double gut shot straight draw with a flush draw. I remember thinking I wanted a heart and when it didn’t come I thought I lost. But the river completed my straight which I didn’t realize until after I mucked my hand.
    All I want to say is if you play long enough you’re going to do a bone headed thing.

    Mucking and folding are two different things and the dealer should know better.
    You didn't FOLD because you paid the bet and your cards didn't touch the MUCK so your hand is LIVE, therefore this was the dealer's FAULT 1) by not giving you time to realize your action and 2) by not reading your opponent's hand out loud as PLAYING THE BOARD to keep the game fair.
