Walking tour of Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow

Carl Zha walked with Tour Guide Ksenia to visit Cathedral of Christ the Savior in #Moscow.
The Cathedral of Christ the Savior was blown up in Soviet time. Stalin wanted to build a tall building "Palace of the Soviets" in its place. But Nazi invasion of Soviet Union interrupted construction. After the Great Patriotic War, effort redirected to build 8 skyscrapers to commemorate 800 year founding of Moscow.
Khrushchev then proceeded to build the world's largest swimming pool named Moskva on site and opened it to public.
In 1990, Effort to reconstruct The Cathedral of Christ the Savior began. Restored The Cathedral of Christ the Savior was completed in 2000 and consecrated.
