Thank you for these concise, informative tutorials! I've had my Realistic for about 8 months now and after messing about for a bit I come back and revisit these videos and always gain a deeper understanding of the possibilities this synth has to offer. Much appreciated!!!
@AutomaticGainsay cool! thanks, good to know. I'm considering buying one for my first moog, but I cant imagine getting a moog and not being able to do pitch bends and modulations for those funky basslines. thx
@@mikemeengs5720 About 20 yrs ago I believe it was around the 300 dollar range.I had no idea what attack and release was then all I did was turn it on and pressed a few keys and wondered what the hell those knobs/switches were all about lol 😆🤖📡
Are you going to release a video for the JX-3P? I really hope so, because I'd love to see what you can do with it. I own a JX-8P which is more or less the same synth with a few added features.
@dfpratt04 well, unless it has a built in digital sample and hold, which I don't think it has, you'll hear the frequency of the note slowly falling down, as the sample and hold capacitor slowly discharges
Hi, Is there any way to do pitch bends on this? I know there's no wheels, but I've read you can do modulations with the sliders instead. Just wondering if you can do the same thing the sliders for pitch bends? Thx
Great review, thanks for posting...:-)) Any idea how successful this synth actually was?, ie, how many units were finally sold? It really was a wolf in sheep's clothing this synth, wasn't it?
Yeah and it's also just a toy like every other Keyboard Radio Shack sold back in the day which is why it's so limited compared to a real Moog. People pay all that money only to realize they just brought a vintage sub par synth (because it was made to be sold for cheap). I'd be happy to find one for 100 bucks or less but above that nah.
I was happy to see my synth in a video, but the amount of jargon was unbearable. I heard sound from the device along with a whole bunch of blah, blah, blah, wah, wah, wah overlapping it..... Sorry Dude, you started in english, but quickly went into techno-geek gibberish.
DUDE! Ive been watching 20 minutes of your videos on this radio shack synthesizer and you still haven't went through all the buttons or told me all of the features of the synth. HURRY UP next time. damn!

@jgk381 You can do pitch bends with the pitch control knobs in the upper left!
Thank you so much for watching, and I'm glad I could help!
Wow a six part series on this, awesome.
Awesome videos about this little synth!

you've got me sold on this moog ( realistic )
Awesome I can hardly wait
Remember Radio shack having this .I putzed around with it and wanted one.🤖📡
Me too...'80 or so!
Can you remember the price back then?

cool moog filter......
Can you make a video on that Yamaha? Is it a cs-60? awesome synth
Marc - when did you get a CS-80 that I see underneath the MG-1? MAN... first a 2600 and now a CS-80.... jeeeez man :-)
@AutomaticGainsay
ya haha
i just wanted to know becuz my old one had some but broke XD
but the features r rly nice

It really was a wolf in sheep's clothing this synth, wasn't it?
@docfraktal Thanks! I love the messages from the synth. Especially "We want women"
funny this is the cheapest moog mono the mini being the most expensive mono yet the only two that have three oscillators
i cant find parts 3-6?
@docfraktal Wow that made my year!
Hi!
Does this have different instrument sounds already built-in?
No presets except the polyphonic 'organ' sound. You have to have a basic understanding of synthesis to get the most out of it.
What kind of watch is that? Is that a Nooka?
is there anyway to control the sustain and decay on this ?
No. Unless you watch the video.
Solos and various...
@AutomaticGainsay do you need to learn piano first to play this????
Reminds of a C64.
it's a real shame this synth has the price of a shiny new minibrute nowadays

i mean i sold one for 850, and another for 730.. that was 2 weeks ago, and a month ago.
No portamento? :'(
Yes, it does - the 'keyboard glide' setting is portamento.
May I work for you and play keyboard all day?

You have had a unique experience.
He's actually explaining things rather clearly and somewhat simply.
@docfraktal hahaha, "we want women" lolololol
