    Great video for the new comer, simple instructions. I love my FT991A for portable medium power (40 watts out ).
    Great idea using a matched resonant multi band wire antenna. I do the same. All of my RF connections, once I leave the radio, are all BNC and I like using RG 174 or RG 316. The lighter I can make my load the happier I am.
    I've seen hams use RG 213, heavy antenna wire and 1/4 rope for low power portable. Way too heavy and hard to work with.
    I really enjoyed the video and look forward to seeing more.

    Hi Tracy, love the video. I would like to take my FT-991A out for portable. I am shopping for a battery and I would assume it would be a good idea if I had one of those volt meters. I am concerned about getting the connections correct between the volt meter and battery and the volt meter and the FT-991A. Right now my FT-991A has the connectors that slip on to a screw to be tightened down. Can one buy the right connectors? Thank you again for the great video.

    • @OutdoorsOnTheAir
      @OutdoorsOnTheAir  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for your comment! Invest in some Powerpole connectors and a good Powerpole crimper. Leave the terminals attached to the battery, then just plug the power cable in when ready to operate. Since the Powerpoles can't be plugged in with the polarity reversed, you'll be all set.

      @@OutdoorsOnTheAir Isn't that a bit low for a transceiver up to 100W? I then assume maximum power of 100W at SSB/AM and FM 160 - 6 meter band. With a 100% efficiency you still arrive at: I=U/R I=12/100*2=24 Ampere. At least as far as I have learned (I'm still learning :-) 73 NL14114 Jan

    Hi Tracy, Quick question. I heard that 991A can operate in digital mode on HF. Is it possible for you to make some QSOs on 80m in C4FM and SSB for comparison? Do you think using digital modes on HF is useful at all? Do you think it will be a thing in the future? Thanks, Jonasz SP2JW, 73!

    • @OutdoorsOnTheAir
      @OutdoorsOnTheAir  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jonasz, I've never used C4FM. I have spoken with hams who have used it on HF and they were very impressed with it's performance. I won't be able to make a video showing C4FM in action on HF as I have sold the 991A. More to come on that in a future video. 73 from VE3TWM!
