    Great stories Lloyd and both helpful and entertaining mate! We share some many very similar travel screw ups, so nice to know I am not alone! On a bike riding from the mountains outside of Chang Mai in Thailand and came across a guy lying in the middle of a highway road with his bike 10 meters up the road. We stop to help, wave down traffic from the middle of the road, I picked up a piece of plastic from the road near him, my partner quickly removed his bike from the road and I eventually woke him from being semi unconscious and got him to the side of the road. No English and he was really hurt. A BMW pulls up and they talk with the man. They talk for 5 minutes and the hurt guy seems to be getting angry and looking at us. It was then I realised he was blaming us for knocking him off his bike. No english. Police soon arrive and for 45 minutes still no English, we are looking like spending our first night in a Thai prison. My partner who was angry for being blamed and scared pulled the arm of a police office to our bike showing no scratches or damage. Then it clicked. The piece of plastic I picked up wasn’t from his bike but the car that had actually hit him. I grabbed my lonely planet book on Thailand and went to the word “car” in the translation index (yes this was life before the internet) and showed him the piece of plastic and pointed to the word. Police officer 1 talks to police office 2 and then the guy that was hurt! First English words were “sorry you can go now” Chang Mai in under 20 mins with flights booked within the next 2 hours back to Bangkok! Sorry had to share!

      Wow! That is an insane story, and I have heard similar, unfortunately in Thailand and Bali when an accident occurs it’s often the tourist that gets the blame even if it not there fault, going to be buying a dashcam for our car when we get one for sure

    Wow that last story was so scary. I’m so glad your mother is ok. That could have easily turned into something else. Thank you for sharing. I am interested in the Vasco. It’s expensive though. Not in my budget, but maybe a Black Friday thing? Anyway I’m so glad you made this video. Super informative. I hope Mandy is up and feeling better soon. Love to you both, and of course you are in my prayers. ❤😊

    Wow what a video! It’s crazy because when you mentioned a few of these stories I was like “oh yeaaaa! I remember that! Ooo I remember this!” The story of booking the hotels and it not existing and then having to sit in another hotel for hours on end, was absolutely wild and I felt awful for you guys. And of course, the last story, that’s absolutely insane and scary and rather sad with the security. They literally did the opposite of what they should’ve done, supposed to kick them out and they literally let them in like…were they expecting you guys to host tea and crumpets in the middle of the night?🤦🏽‍♂️ Glad everyone is ok but wow oh wow!

    In Bangkok Thailand there is a clinic that specializes in tropical diseases and have vaccines for a long list of diseases including Dengue Fever: Thai Travel Clinic. Highly recommended. Not expensive. Anyone traveling extensively in the tropics should visit and get protected. I also got Rabies vaccine there.

      Hi Jim, is the Dengue Fever vaccine effective? And is the reason for the Rabies vaccine to protect in case for dog or monkey bites? I am not from the area and want to learn as much as possible.

    If you do a US tour again start in may. June and july are to hot in most states. Im in Michigan. To me may is perfect. Still some 40 degree nights and maybe a couple of 50s during the day. Its june 12th. We just had a few beautifully cool days, didnt need heat . Just perfect really. But monday its gonna hit 90's. So out west would definitely be to hot. Excited for the baby. Im a fairly new subscriber and seeing your clips of earlier videos look fun. Gonna go back and start watching.

    Lloyd, PLEASE never leave your valuables in your room when you exit it.
    If you do not have a safe, take your valuables with you, which includes all your filming gear etc. or send Mandy out to get whatever and you stay behind to supervise the work men, please.
    Or, you really should both stay with workmen when they do what they do in where you will be staying, PLEASE.

    I'm thinking these guys acted this way because so many tourists just skip out after a negative event. I know, because I know 3 people who have skipped away from terrible situations they caused. These people think it's a funny story. But it's devastating for the local who is injured. 😢

    • @LloydandMandy
      @LloydandMandy  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We understand that they didn’t trust us, which is why we didn’t name and shame them, honestly if we showed the texts we received this video would probably be taken down due to the vile language and threats.

    • @Mr.DJones
      @Mr.DJones 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agree. Just maybe, one of their friends was hurt recently and the tourists split on them. What would you do in the same circumstances? And BTW, it is always easy to say one thing when it hasn't happened. :)

  • @elsienorback7689
    @elsienorback7689 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Honestly, I think you are lucky that they didn’t take anything of value from your room. I would never allow anyone in the room without you present. Hotel workers all have a generic password to get into your safe as well. They showed us that’s the case in Bali..

    Just thought I should speak up about accidents in Bali but it apple's to a lot of Asia in general. First I want to make clear I think your experience was terrible. In Indonesia the rule is that no matter what any accident is the fault of the foreigner. As if you were not there ( ie visiting thier country) the accident would not happen) you are also very lucky the police were not called as it probably would of been far worse your brother would of found himself detained way more out of pocket and worse. I also think expecting a Balinese grab driver to come up with money to fix arm and support him and his family whilst in recovery may have contributed to the desperate behaviour. When an average wage is around a $150 a month your asking to trust that you would pay nearly a year's wages might be an ask for anyone. However maybe someone else could of paid the bill and your family could of sorted it with your brother. Understanding these places that your travel and choose to live in are not Australia or Western society is vital.
