I am sure many of us outside of Russia would do what many of you Russians have done leaving Russia. I think you did the right thing leaving. However, Russians need to solve the huge problem your country has. As it looks now, Ukraine is doing the very hard work that may lead to your freedom and ability to go home if you choose.

bro I'm not russian, I'm american, but what you're saying is incredibly condescending. It's like telling jews fleeing the mustache man's country in 1939 to go home and fix it. There is nothing to solve in russia. It's over. There is no reason for good people to ever stay there. Only outside forces will fix the problem now, and as we see with north korea it might take 100 years.

Dear Konstantin. In Norway we always have had good relationship with open borders between our countries. After 24.02.2022 everything changed. The Putin regime sent spies with drones near by special military installations, and we had terrorattemt at oil installasjons. And they sent waves of immigrants from Afrikan countries to the open border just like they did against Finland. The Putin regime destroyed the possibility of open borders. • @raraavis7782
      @raraavis7782 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

Yes. It's an unsolvable problem. Let's take it all as a lesson about what happens, if we don't fight for freedom and democracy in our various countries, right when things *start* to go bad. Konstantin said it himself once. He bitterly regrets having sat back and just watched the current powers take absolute control in his country. By the time things become so unbearable that leaving is the only option (unless you're cut out to become a martyr), there's nothing you can do anymore, usually. And then you pay the price of becoming a refugee - if you're lucky enough to have the option and means to leave at all.
Let's all just hope, that Putin and his cronies are too distracted by their other problems and their current location remains safe for them. They're lucky, to have found a 'safe haven' of sorts, where they have a community and a way to survive for the time being.
Because asking countries Russia is actively hostile towards, to take them in... that's not gonna work, for the time being. We're all paying a heavy price for helping them sort out this mess in any case. Western democracies *are* under constant attack atm. Russia, China, most of the Muslim world... they're all trying to undermine us and weaken us and get us to fight among ourselves.
Ultimately, it will cause more harm than good, if we let our concern for individuals in need overrule our concern for keeping the very system that allows our way of life in the first place intact.

According to Dmytro Pletenchuk, head of the Center for Strategic Communications of the Southern Defense Forces, a fire broke out on the Russian large anti-submarine ship Admiral Levchenko in the Barents Sea.
He noted that the “struggle for survival” continues on board.
According to Pletenchuk, the cause of the fire is the inability of the Russians to independently maintain the ship's engines manufactured in Mykolaiv.
"Ten years were not enough to solve this problem. One of the installations caught fire,” he added.
The spokesman for the Southern Operational Command also noted that the ship's crew consisted of several hundred sailors.
It is worth noting that the Admiral Levchenko was launched in 1985. It has been serving in the Russian Northern Fleet since 1989.

Imagine what the USA would be like today if, during the War of Independence, a few million of those who fought for the liberation of their country had fled the British.
Throughout the history of nations, there are undeniable facts... the great regime changes have always happened from within these nations, changes that were carried out by generations who decided to pay with blood the price of freedom, their freedom, the freedom of their children and future generations. They paid the price of freedom with death.
During these changes, running away would definitely have been the easier decision. Staying, fighting and dying for liberation, yes, that was true courage, and yes, that was the difficult decision.
Changes in Russia can only happen from within the country and will never be possible if those who want change continue to run away... for me that is not courage, it is cowardice.
I leave you with a question: do these people, those who flee, have the right to demand freedom, when they fled the fight for that freedom?

Students in the U.S.A. demonstrating against the actions of the Israeli government do not align them with Hamas or other malign players (Iran) n this conflict. The actions of the IDF as well as the actions of successive Israeli governments over the decades in their intentions and treatment of the Palestinian people need to be examined and these actions have been lost by and large over the years on western media. Of course players like Iran will take advantage of every opportunity to support their narrative, but that should not detract from drawing attention to the actions of the Israeli government/s.

I am now 77. I have lived most of my life in US but have lived in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia for 6-12 months, each working and living in middle class neighbor hoods with local people each time. I was at an American University during the Viet Nam War.. Many students protested and marched. They were not un American or pro communist. They were against genocide and senseless horrible wars. I do not think they care what anyone in Iran thinks or says. They are tired of looking at photos of dead babies. Israel has now killed over 1000 civilians for each Israel citizen who was attacked, murdered or kidnapped.. I think that should take care of any eye for an eye crap. I am not a politician or able to work miracles. If Israel wishes to fight against people who are fighting against them fine. They have no reason to continue to murder people just because they live in Palestine. The US is wrong to support the Israel Government if they choose to continue this uncontrolled and unfocused genocide. About 1 percent of the people I was in University with are still somewhat radical. The rest are teachers Dr's layer's and doing all the everyday jobs that need to be done. I personally know people in their adult years who have taken their children to Viet Nam to see what a beautiful country it is and visit with the people and visit the sites of the most horrific events, There are also alumni who have gone to Europe and visited former concentration camps and visited cemeteries and memorial both allied and German. I believe the order was not to let Russian people in at all, but they have to live somewhere else while applying for asylum and getting their paper work first. Since thousands of Russians who left are well educated with good skills and anti dictator feelings I hope most will eventually be admitted. I think this order is based on the current US political climate not just anti Russian with a very broad brush.

So it is true what we know all along , Sinwar is using civilians (women , children , elderly) as human shield and to mobilize world public opinion . Isn't this disgusting ? A sick minded radical islamist is intentionally exposing own people to war dangers calling own criminal act as other genocide caused by attacking nation (Israel. All sides involved in "Cease fire and hostilities" agree on proposed terms , including Fatah and Hamas political leader Hanniya .... except Hamas Gaza armed wing leader Sinwar.
I am old enough (b.1950) and am listening all my life about about Arafat , Fatah , Gaza , Israel , West bank , . This is a never-ending story. As Yousef (son of one of Hamas founders) said in an interview: If there were no Israel and Jews , the Arabic tribes from the area would fight and kill each until extermination.

What's so tragic for Russians is that there is no need for what is happening there in Russia.. they have the means and resources for all Russians to live a good life in the country - but a small group of gangsters run the country and choose to make war, who force the people to go to war in other countries and die therefore what? But there comes a point where it stops being productive, and I think that was reached at "sigh.... use some brain power".
...but in the off chance that you'd like a serious discussion: No, relying on asylum seekers was not a prominent tactic neither for the Kgb nor Stasi; this simply isn't supported by historical evidence. They used a bunch of methods, but mainly: diplomatic cover, academic exchanges, recruitment of locals, and things like the Illegals program. And today I don't even think the you need as many boots on the ground as a lot of info is gatherable through cyber espionage.
Furthermore, doing so would be in breach of article 3 of the 1951 Refugee Convention: "The Contracting States shall apply the provisions of this Convention to refugees without discrimination as to race, religion, or country of origin."
as well as article 33: "No Contracting State shall expel or return ('refouler') a refugee in any manner whatsoever to the frontiers of territories where his life or freedom would be threatened on account of his race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion."
So not only is it historically wrong ...but enforcing it is most likely also legally wrong. Not to mention ethically wrong as it would hurt vastly more innocent people (but that's ultimately a subjective topic).

Maybe part of the US govt's rationale, regardless of its unfairness/inapplicability to the typical immigrant from the six countries in question, is due to fears of certain individuals from Russia etc. potentially engaging in espionage? I've read that this has been a concern with refugees from Russia entering certain European, particularly Nordic countries. Nevertheless, it must be incredibly frustrating concerning the generally ironic and painful consequences of such a move, which punishes the many for the potential transgressions of a few.

My great grandparents moved from Russia to the United States in 1924. I have a Russian family name but my mom's family is French and German. Despite this, when people here learn that my last name is Russoff they seem to think I'm pro Russian. It's rather infuriating but you can thank Uncle Puty for all this.

The majority of students protest right or wrong, and nor "for Iran". They protested gor CHANGE in Iran, after the girl was killed by the headscarf police. Now they protest for palestinian people & against israeli overreach. NOT for islamism.
Sure, it is difficult, especially with islamism & Hamas, to always have a clear boundary, but so it is if you side with Israel - where do you want to protect persons? (And are israeli lives more worth protecting, than palestinian lives!?) Where do you protest against antisemitism? Where do you actually endorse colonialism, racism & displacement?
It's just really difficult & Khamenei is misusing the protests for his propaganda.

It may be true (I hope not), but the Washington Examiner is very biased and the New York Post is nearly a tabloid (not as bad as the National Enquirer, but close). In my opinion, the story of the USA refusing Russians at the border is the biggest of today's reports. This makes absolutely no sense to me. Russians who have left their home county in opposition to the attack on Ukraine deserve asylum in the US.
I thought the Georgia and Armenia stories were also very important.

American here. I wish my country's immigration system wasn't so screwed up. It shouldn't take 10 years to process asylum seekers. We had a chance to pass legislation to fix this but of course the radicals messed that up. I continue to pray that my fellow citizens will do the right thing in the November elections and bring back normalcy and compassion to my country. We need quality immigrants to bring their skills and talents here and help us continue to grow our economy. I don't know why so many American's fear immigrants. We have so many jobs here and not enough people available to work. This country was built by immigrants. So many people from so many places have come here over hundreds of years. The English, Irish, Germans, Italians, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Indians, Koreans, and so many more including from Africa, South America, Europe, Asia and so many other places. Where else in the world, can people experience so much variety of culture and the food? We have so many choices. It's so stupid that some American's are so hostile towards immigrants. It's not all of us Americans, I can assure you. I have worked with so many immigrants over the years and I learn so much from them. I hope that someday that people will see through the propaganda, stop the wars and return to peace and to reason. I hope you can return to your country someday or find a new permanent country where you can find peace, happiness, prosperity and safety. It's so sad what is happening.

I disagree we have to many people here we cant save the world. The illegals get free everything while the taxpayer keeps paying more. The biggest problem is foreign country's buy our land and sell it back to us at a profit creating a massive homeless problem and neglect of the elderly, veterans and lower class. We are at a disadvantage to every other country who enforce laws and prohibit property ownership.

You've been here for many years and have a known history of being friendly to America. My elder brother, a fairly high up in the Department of State, agrees. Konstantin, that is not the process. What you do is to get to Mexico, or any other safe country where you can access a US consulate and apply there. In fact, general asylum rules state that you should stay in the first safe country you come to and apply there. This is not just a US thing.
Just a funny story about refugees. It was during the Cold War. I was driving to a friend's new house in the Virginia suburbs of Washington, DC (the town of my birth) and I stopped to get gas. I wasn't familiar with the area, so I asked a guy working there for directions. He was just standing there reading a book. His response was, I have no idea, I am just a refugee.
One of the problems with the people from the countries you mention is security. Frankly, the fear is that Russia will sneak spies in among the refugees. Also, Russia and the other countries who support it are at war with a country the US supports. This cannot be forgotten.
That said, I think that Russians should be allowed to apply for asylum. But applying doesn't mean that you will get it.
