    Epic enclosure! I really appreciate how much work this was, not only to make the enclosure but to capture the whole process on video. The podcast is great too and I can honestly say that it's inspired me to invest in making each of my snake enclosures the best... rather than pursuing the goal of owning every snake species I'm interested in. Very cool content and admirable ethics behind it all. Keep it up. I'm a fan!

    My giant day gecko is the same way with being so calm to lick food off my finger and purring. To me moving on the other side of the room and she bolts

    Looking awesome Dillon. As everything grows in and it becomes denser she'll love it even more. The lighting system looks amazing too! I have been trying to set my timers up so that they allow for the natural sunlight to gradually get brighter and then switch on around 9ish and go off at 6pm so it's not so sudden of a change.
    Nice selection of plants too. Just waiting to get my hands on some golden pothos to finish planting the bio active set up for my JCP and will starting putting a video together for that.
    Also, subs seem to be going up more and more recently, So glad to see that!

    • @AnimalsatHomePodcast
      @AnimalsatHomePodcast  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Harvey! I’m happy with the way it turned out as well. Definitely looking forward to the plants growing in thicker. What have you been using for timers to create a sunset? I tried to find timers that would slowly ramp on and ramp off and I couldn’t find anything.
      Yes I’m definitely happy to see the subscribers are starting to flow in!

      Well it is very much a temporary thing atm and I am hoping to figure out a way to better implement light cycles. I just got some very dim LEDs to try and simulate dawn and dusk which I switch on manually around half an hour before the main lights switch on. It's the closest I can get atm and while it a quick fix I am sure it has to be better than bright lights just blasting on straight away..Mariah Healey also told me the dim warm white LEDs are also better when checking on animals at night.
      Anyway, when my budget allows, I plan to keep improving the lighting in all the enclosures whenever I can.

    Awesome probably the best natural system enclosure ive seen... great job setting this up man. Almost got a day gecko today but didn't realize how much they required so i didnt go through with it. I dont have time with my job to care for one. They are awesome tho.

      Thanks, Brad! I appreciate that! And glad to hear that you decided against getting one, sounds like you are one of the rare conscientious keepers out there. Hopefully in the future when you have more time you can get one, because they are fantastic!

      @@AnimalsatHomePodcast yeah hopefully. They are cool lil guys to look at. ive had quite a few lizards and reptile's growing up an have learnt from my mistakes unfortunately. So i didn't want to get something that I don't have time to care for properly. PetSmart had a very good looking male for $30. I almost got it then watched afew videos on them including your awesome set up an knew i wouldn't be able to house one atm lol sux, but it is what it is.

    What do I use to clean the glass walls on the inside of my gecko's cage?

  • @speedymadr6

    Hi Dillon, Great enclosure! I have just set up my Grandis enclosure using an exo terra 45 x 45 x 90 with shadedweller and jungle dawn. Currently I am not using a daytime bulb as the heat from the lights is giving me a basking area of 31 C. Do you feel a daytime lamp is vital for these animals? I realise they provide very good IR A & B but I fear if I add a further heat source the bulb would just be fully dimmed. Thanks

    • @AnimalsatHomePodcast
      @AnimalsatHomePodcast  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Dave, Thanks for watching the video! It's a good question... I have noticed my gecko basking under her jungle dawn more often than her halogen! The jungle Dawn surely throws off a good amount of IRA and probably IRB (or else we wouldn't feel the heat coming off it). I would say, as long as your temps are good you probably don't need an additional heat bulb. I would, however, consider bumping up to a strong UVB (a t5 6% would be great)

    • @speedymadr6
      @speedymadr6 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AnimalsatHomePodcast thanks for the reply. I have noticed the same with the jungle Dawn and I have a tall piece of Cork that runs almost to the top and he sits underneath it a fair bit. Temp is about 30 to 31 c underneath which is perfect. I wanted to run a 6% but they are too long for the 45cm width which is why I went for the shadedweller. I have a nice horizontal bamboo running underneath but would like to check UV reading with a solar meter.
      I won't stress too much that I don't have a halogen / daytime bulb 👍

    • @AnimalsatHomePodcast
      @AnimalsatHomePodcast  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, probably worth checking the UVI when you get a chance. If the perch close enough to the bulb, it should work fine!

    How are you planning to change the soil and clean the Vivarium?? Or are you just letting it be. I know it is a vivarium, so it is self cleaning itself but shouldnt you change it after a while?? Nice enclosure btw. Looks lit

    • @AnimalsatHomePodcast
      @AnimalsatHomePodcast  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No need to change the soil in a viv. Eventually there may be a need to add additional substrate but the clean up crew takes care of any cleaning needed!

    The bulkhead was way too bulky. You could've sawed off some of that very excessive length. It seemed too large overall to my novice eye.
