@@d-family5843 since your in middle school I personally would try and stick to athleisure clothing, and stuff like that. You can still make some really nice outfits and outdress almost everyone around without look like your tryharding.
Seriously underated thing to do, change small thing about your outfit. Mix match shoelaces (tastefully). If you can sew, maybe sew in some patches into some of the things you wear less. These are things that make you look different. I think that help you look better, and if I'm wrong, there's no need to do that.

Or a silver clasp bracelet, if it's a rope bracelet wear a rope chain is my PERSONAL rule but u could do whatever. Watch, if you want to start simple wear a stainless steel band watch with a white dial. As I believe it's more diverse than any color dial. Casio makes great affordable options. If you want to be a little more different and want to wear a black later band watch, wear a black leather belt, same goes for brown too. Rings, could start with one but in my opinion 2 is the max Necklace/chain but if not allowed wear a shorter one under your polo and leave a little unbuttoned to show your chain Color code your shoes with tie is something I've seen. If your tie is light green wear a shoe with small light green accents. A tie bar also helps, if you're wearing silver jewelry wear a silver tie bar Glasses, if you wear prescription glasses get ones that match your personal style AND face shape I can't stress that enough. If you don't wear prescription glasses get a pair of blue light glasses Aaron already mentioned a lot of these, so just experiment a little with each A rule of thumb is match your metals, if you want to mix them go for it. Not really, you can just do basics, nobody cares so just doing more than a hoodie or t-shirt, and jeans or sweat pants is more than most guys. For fall mayb a sweatshirt without a hood or a flannel. Mayb a necklace. That stuff.

How do you get an 18 y/o to try diff styles when ALL he wears is black or gray sweats/shorts, Nike/Adidas/black concert tshirts & Iowa Hawkeyes hoodie even on dates. If he has to dress up & it’s 20 degrees outside, he will go without a jacket even tho he has a nice brand new soft black leather Levi’s jacket. He graduates in May but dresses like he’s in junior high. As his mom I realize I don’t know anything but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know he dresses like a slob, for lack of s better word. I don’t understand why he won’t try new styles & look like he put forth a little effort & has pride in his appearance. He is good looking (not bc im his mom), is on the wrestling team, gets good grades but he lacks in the fashion dept. Any suggestions on how to get my baby to start looking like a young man?
