Actually bert never sang it. He wrote it for Donovan and the song only appears on Donovan's second album " fairy tale " and very different from my version
@@pierrelebras6211 That explains all Pierre. Many Thanks, and thank you for all the new material you have been posting recently. It is much appreciated.
In his otherwise excellent Bert bio Dazzling Stranger, Colin Harper sheds no real light on the nature of Bert & Don's relationship; Bert is quoted to the effect that Don's "people" would sometimes come around the infamous apartment where Bert & John held court in the early 60s "looking for songs".
He wrote this song for Donovan and it only appears on an early Donovan's album l don't remember which one Bert never recorded it himself and of course l quite transformed it all the best. Pierre
Hi Pierre, I've been enjoying your interpretations of Bert's works for some time now....but it just occurred to me ; did you ever learn any(very) early Roy Harper ? I'm thinking songs like 'My friend','Blackpool' and 'Black clouds' ,all very 'Bert' ! Just a thought.
Hello max. I have a couple of Roy Harper's albums but never really cared for him very much but I'll listen closely anyway. Maybe my tastes will widen as l get older but I've got so much music in my head it's hard to make place for more but good songs pop up now and then so why not
@@pierrelebras6211 Hi Pierre ! About half of 'Sophisticated beggar' could easily pass for B.Jansch-Roy was obviously listening closely . I do know that 'My friend' is tuned to EBEFBE(open E minor) if that's any help.
Mesmerizing
That's one song I've never heard in my life before.

Found it it's on Donovan's second album " Fairy tale " not much to do with my version so you'll make your own point of view
@@pierrelebras6211 thanks, you provided enough material for at least 2 months this round.
