I went to high school with Keith Green. I was a shy intense artist, and he had a sweet humourous way of bringing me out of my shell. Keith was the quentessencial "mother nature's son" kinda guy. He came into the world to share his beautiful gifts…be a best friend - and a true brother to everyone ❤️

Wow! I played Keith’s music sophomore year in college when I first heard of him. It’s been a long twisting road, but whenever I feel alone? I remember this song. It always brings tears of comfort.
It’s amazing that you knew him at that age. He’s truly an artist who lived his faith through his work and turning down commercial success. ❤

I grew up listening to Keith Green, still remember when he was killed in a plane crash in 1982, so sad, he had an amazing ministry in his short 28 years. His music is so powerful and still lives on today. Please listen to more of his music. He was a terrific song writer not afraid of telling the truth.

Keith was given a record deal at 11 years old.. already written 40 songs and expected to be as big as Elton John.. it was expected he would be a Rock Star .. he was that gifted.. and so young..
Keith was stopped in his tracks.. and God changed him . . Keith went looking for the truth and found Jesus Christ.. Keith and his story is amazing.. his outreach to everybody and anybody on the street in need of food, shelter, clothing, he gave to everyone him and his wife.. rented houses for these people.. they all worked like a family.. even raising food for the growing number of people in need in Los Angeles.. later they moved to a large ranch taking everyone with them. All learning and growing together..living and with many outreaches.. Keith was not going to sell his albumns either.. he asked to be released from his recording contract so he could give his albumns away or recieve donations to help his outreach to all who had a need..
    Really amazing..
His death was sudden and shocking.. it was five years after this song.. God told Keith he was bringing him home soon..
    He did

Keith Green was one of the first Christian artists I really loved when I was in high school. I remember when he and some of his children died in a plane crash. It was so sad. He had so many beautiful songs. The Lord is my Shepherd, Draw Me, Make My Life a Prayer to You, Your Love Broke Through...….Thank you so much for this.

I still listen to Keith faithfully. Song to my parents was the first song by him I was ever introduced to. As of the publishing of the book of his life, “No Compromise”, by his wife Melody, in 2008? I don’t believe his parents ever have surrendered to the Gospel. Sad sad.

Grew up listening to Keith Green, what an amazing gospel singer, he searched the worlds religions before committing to Christ along with his wife. He was tragically killed in a plane crash at the age of 29. He was a very passionate Christian but could be quite socially awkward. He is amazing both lyrically and musically

Keith Green was literally a little piece of Heaven on Earth. His way of singing was truly heartfelt. I mean when he sang it he really believed what he sang and his life was a reflection of his music too. He music now is actually helping me with my walk with Christ and that's what his mission was to draw people to God and draw closer

I was privileged to train and serve at Last Days Ministries for 4 years...still serving in full time ministry (with YWAM) to this day...in my 32nd year. Keith Green and his wife Melody; Bob Ayala...and all of the other beloved, precious brothers and sisters I was privileged to live and serve alongside...what a legacy and what a blessing--worth FAR more than all the $ or other material things I could have obtained if I’d chosen the “normal” road!

Wow...That was impactful. Think I will have to delve into yesteryear and listen to some of the Christian songs of that era. Today’s music seems to not even be close to comparison in lyrical content. Something to be said for the 70s-80s singer songwriters.

Check out Larry Norman and Randy Stonehill. They were close friends with Keith Green and their music is on the same level lyrically and musically, although each has their own style. I also like Bob Dylan's gospel albums from around that period of mid to late 70's and yes he also hung out with all of those guys. Larry Norman used to lead a Bible study associated with a church in LA called Vineyard Church I think.

Matthew 6:26-34 New King James Version (NKJV)
26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one [a]cubit to his [b]stature?
28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not [c]arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Barbara A. Colon Keith Green’s music is timeless and was, and still is, a wake up call to the church. In the few short years he made music after he became a Christian he turned the Christian world on its head with his music and very pointed and challenging lyrics. He died in 1982 in a plane crash but his music still comes fresh every time I listen to it.

So funny that you mentioned the "Elton John vibe"... My parents became Christians in the mid-70s, around the time I was born. They refused to listen to any "secular music", including Elton John. And in their minds, Keith Green sounded too much like EJ, so they wouldn't allow his music in our home. I didn't discover Keith's music until the early '90s. I'm a piano player and worship leader, and I still am enthralled by Keith's music...

    • @recker71
      @recker71 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I was so glad when MRM brought up the "Elton John" vibe. I felt that vibe, too, from some of Keith's other songs. One song in particular is "You Put This Love in My Heart." /watch?v=8j4EP5g7i6c It has a curiously similar vibe as "Don't go Breaking My Heart" by EJ. However, I don't want to give the impression that either one ripped off the other. Their songs are unique to themselves and carry different messages.

    Blessed and Beautiful Music!
While you are on this channel watching Christian Music Videos, please find & watch documentaries on Keith Green's Life.
    You Will Be Blest !!
"I would have to say, if it wasn't for the loving & giving heart of Keith Green, I probably would not have become a believer and remained "the course" even through today. I led my brother to the Lord and he and I have led nearly 25 members of our extended family to Christ. I even have two boys who have become full-time ministers of the Gospel of Christ. (Keith would be proud)
I have studied under many significant ministries, leaders, preachers, churches, in several denominations, but, sad to say, I have had to renounce many their influences from my life for many of them have fallen away from Christ Himself and His solid and simple teachings.
Keith Green was that prophet that had caused myself and many to be single-focused in my walk with Christ and to seek to be planted in quality soil in order to produce fruit."

Can’t say that I am a huge Rich Mullins fan or that I am a very good Christian. But my dad exposed me to a lot of different Christian music over the years. Nothing Is Beyond You is a song that can almost always bring tears to my eyes. The lyrics speak of a God that is so much greater than you or I can understand. If only the church truly desired such a God. Perhaps our world would be a very different place.
