Ayo bro loved ur breakdown of the custrom keyboard hobby as fellow Singaporean recently getting into the rabbit hole myself! Tht being said I hv to comment: many custom keyboard hobby discord grps, like SG MK discord grp(idk abt others im only talking from my experience) are rlly toxic. Idk why but everytime i ask how is switch like on diff keyboards i get things like "i lost so many braincells reading ur question; u know its subjective right?" Like to me its jsut wtf, im only asking abt their experiences with diff keyboard switches...and even when i ask wht stabs u recommend they give one liners as if im stupid. maybe im being a bit too sensitive but shouldnt the mechanical keyboard hobby be abt curiosity and exploring? why then this need for elitism and such arrogant behavior....
Honestly im disappointed as of now how toxic custom keyboard hobbyists can be, esp online when the simplest and most innocent of questions get flamed . And the worst part is when i talked to other keyboard enthusaists from other groups and in other countries they nvr responded in the toxic manner that the Sg kb grps showed to me. But what do you think?

It’s most likely those internet trolling, 10 to early twenties age group that’s that way. The few I’ve met in person were really nice! So far VIA has only been trouble while using a keychron q1. Certain buttons not working no longer being able to toggle light etc.
I see. Well, I haven't tried using VIA on keychron myself, so I can't say. Good to know!
@@benfromsg Well I should add some things. My layout is Iso de (standard german). I bought the (as they call it) second rendition of the barebones knob version. Out of the box it had some keys not working and the layout as Iso-UK or US. I managed to flash another bios on to it eventually working only with my mouse for the time being. Now I have some problems with the FN key not working which is a problem that would be even worse depending on the form factor of the keyboard.

I purchased many.... If you are talking about the ones from the two studios that I have my eyes on, they are the Werk One from werk technica and the ASP from geistmaschine

IDK, I actually feel there is much more innovation happening in the ergo split keyb subcommunity & custom EC space. This TKL / 60% / mono 40% mainstream way doesn't provided any real innovation other than new designs for cases.
Definitely agree, it’s just that ergo and split keebs appeal to an even smaller niche of people within the community. I for one don’t really like them, not because of looks or functionality, I actually like how it looks. But because I tried a couple and really can’t adapt to it after forced myself to use them for a couple of weeks of daily use. So, I haven’t been keeping up with that segment of the community and aren’t really well versed to make a video about them.
That said, if you could point me to a couple of content creators or projects or boards that feature ergo and splits, I’d be more than happy to dive into researching them!
